It seems like it has been awhile since we’ve given stuff away here on the site, so thanks to Harmonix, we’ve recently fallen in to a nice little cache of DLC codes for the Xbox 360 from the past year that we want to help give out. We’ll try to giveaway a different DLC pack each Friday until our stash runs out. First up is the Billy Joel Piano Challenge pack from last March. The songs included are…

If this is something that you want to try and win, entry is simple. All you have to do is post a comment below that includes your favorite Rock Band song that has a keys/piano chart. Standard rules apply: one entry per household only, Xbox 360 only, codes are redeemable worldwide (as far as I know). Please include a valid email address (or Twitter account if you don’t want to take off your tin foil hat) with each entry so we can contact the winners.

We’ll let this run through the weekend so everyone has a chance to enter and randomly choose a winner sometime on Monday afternoon (Central time). And since we ALSO have a number of 160 MSP codes, we’ll even randomly give out a “consolation gift” to one entrant, as well!

Originally released on November 20, 2007, Rock Band has endeared itself to millions of people as more then just a simple video game, but a phenomenon. What started out as a game with 58 songs available on disc has blossomed into a massive catalog of well over 3,000 songs, downloaded over 100 million times. The game allowed a group of people with no formal musical background an opportunity to interactively experience some of their favorite music.

Four years of weekly DLC additions to an established franchise is nothing short of impressive, and to help celebrate their own birthday, Rock Band is giving away DLC of some of their best selling packs to a hundred lucky winners (88 separate tracks in total for each winner)! If you’re a fan of the site here, you may have some (or all) of the tracks that are being given away, but if not, this is a great opportunity to try to beef up your library. Full details and official rules are available on the RockBand.com forums.

So we’ve reached yet again another milestone with the Rock Band DLC library. With the addition of this week’s Yes DLC, we have now surpassed 3,000 unique songs playable in Rock Band! Three THOUSAND. That really is a ridiculous amount. While Rock Band will assuredly never catch the quantity of music available via digital retailers like iTunes, 3,000 songs has to be enough to surely establish the franchise as a more than just a “video game,” and something more like an institution.

Similar to how we had performed in the past (and probably will do shortly again in the future), Harmonix pulled together a short list of facts about the current Rock Band library. There have been 193 weeks of consistent DLC, starting on November 20th, 2007. 1,264 of the 3,000 song library came to us courtesy of RBN since the doors opened on March, 4 2010. The 3,000 songs represent the works of more than 900 bands and span 27 different genres. And more than 100 million songs have been sold through the Rock Band Music Store!

And Rock Band is celebrating this milestone by giving away 3,000 Xbox 360 OR Playstation 3 tracks to 30 lucky fans who will each win 100 songs of their choice. For a chance to win, enter in one of three ways:

• Enter on Twitter: Follow @RockBand on Twitter and post a tweet with the hashtag #RB3000.
• Enter on Facebook: Visit Rock Band‘s Facebook page and enter the giveaway posted on the page.

Hello to all the old and new RockBandAide (and Soundgarden DLC) fans! The folks at @Harmonix and @RockBand have been on quite the tear lately, giving away today’s newly released Soundgarden DLC last week, before you could buy it, as well as today, again via Twitter. Well, they are gracious enough to allow me to help spread some of the wealth. Fresh from Microsoft, Harmonix has bequeathed us with TWENTY-FIVE codes for today’s “Celebrating Soundgarden on Tour 2011” 6-pack to giveaway for the Xbox 360.

@RockBand will be doing a good job of choosing people randomly via the #SoundgardenDLC hashtag, but I wanted to support the people that visit the site (by all means, please follow @RockBandAide on Twitter, too). So in an effort to both “fairly” give out the codes and to change up the #SoundgardenDLC giveaway a little bit, we’ll give out the remaining codes later tonight randomly to people who post below in the comments.

BEFORE YOU POST… here’s a couple things to remember:

1. Enter your favorite Soundgarden song in the comments below, along with a valid email address (in the MAIL field… not the comment itself) to send the code to. It doesn’t have to be one of the songs currently released as DLC, but it does have to be a Soundgarden song.
2. One entry per household. Every time there’s a giveaway, people conveniently forgot this rule and void themselves. The reason behind this is that if you and your little brother both enter, only one of you can use DLC anyway. Why double up on DLC purchases anyway? Unless you’re made of money. In which case, just buy the DLC, Mr. Moneybags.
3. Free stuff rules. Soundgarden DEFINITELY rules. So by definition free Soundgarden DLC rules so hard. If the site is rushed by people and momentarily knocked offline while you are submitting your entry, check back in five or ten minutes to see if your entry went through.
4. I will choose winners randomly after 8:00 PM (central) tonight, and email the codes to them. This will give EVERYONE time to enter, regardless of being at school (in the summer?), work, or play in the next 8 hours, but still let your weekend be a little more awesome with some Soundgarden DLC!

And yes, to the best of my knowledge, these codes are redeemed worldwide.
