Rock Band 3 Pre-Order Promotions & Exclusive Items
Now that we know when the game is coming out (October 26th… pending official announcement from Harmonix), let’s take a look at some of the pre-order promos that retailers are running. These are the only ones I’ve been able to find so far, but if you know of any more, send them my way and I’ll update.
- Amazon – $10 video game credit AND a token for a free in-game guitar (white, above)
- Best Buy – Reward Zone members get 500 bonus points, everyone gets the in-game Ovation D-2010 guitar (red, above)
- Gamestop – Three free DLC songs ($5.97 value)
- Wal-Mart – $10 gift card
I’ll also re-publish this post once we get closer to the release date, as well.
Note: Play it safe and confirm that the promotion is applicable to your console when placing the pre-order.

I used my $20 AZ game credit to apply to my RB3 pre-order already, and now I have at least another $10 coming back

Actually, I wouldn’t be so sure of that. I had a $20 Amazon game credit, used it to buy something that had a $10 game credit on it, and wasn’t eligible since I’d just received a game credit.
The Amazon one isn’t for the bundle though, just the game on its own. Lame.
Has it been confirmed that the three free DLC will be for the US as well? Thought it was only mentioned for Canada.

Okay, thanks. I’m at work, so I’m blocked – heh, that’s why I asked. Also, these haven’t been suggested as exclusive DLC, just free pre-order stuff similar to what they did with The Beatles?

True those songs will be to buy at lanch in the RB store.
yeah it is also for the us as the gamestop website updated with the 3 songs as well
Should probably note that the GameStop pre-order only applies to 360 and PS3, not Wii

Similarly, the Amazon Pre-Order for Wii doesn’t have the $10 Game Credit, only only the DLC Guitar.
Is this release date just for the US? Or is it for Europe as well?

Yes! That and New Order!
I feel as sad the guy in the Trident Layers commercial! Us Wii users get jobbed again.
Yay burning down the house is gonna be awesome.
Don’t see any of these promotions all that exciting.. oh well I’ll just wait
Yay, Wii users get less preorder goodies. Gives me more incentive to wait until Christmas for it.

*fewer, not less.
I has good grammar!
Those three months wont go quick enough. I wonder if any ebay resellers will be able to scam any of these deals. I need to import mine from the US to keep my DLC.
I have to admit that I’m a little annoyed that blue monday and burning down the house aren’t just in the game to begin with. Two awesome, awesome songs.
Hey, it’s official!

Exclusive bonuses, ya bother me. Not that I’ll DIE if I don’t have this Amazon guitar, but still.
Bah US only stores FTL.. want some offers available world wide.. :/
Even though Gamestop gets a lot of hate, I’m keeping my preorder there. Songs are more fun than extra in-game guitars.
NOTE to RockBandAide: I believe that in order to get the 500 bonus points at Best Buy, you also need to be in the Reward Zone Gamers Club (which is free to join).

Yup, that’s why I had the Reward Zone caveat on the post.

I only mention it because you have to sign up for the Gamers Club separately, or at least I did.

You’ll have to look around, but I’m assuming yes: http://store.gameshark.net/Rock_Band_3_Wireless_Keyboard_and_Software_Bundle_For_Xbox_360/4774/260

Oh cheers mate
I have my pre-order in at gamestop and I can’t wait for my free down… oh yeah, thats right… NO FREE DLC FOR ME!
Do you HAVE to download all 3 songs as a free promo pack? Or will they be availible individually?

Don’t see how either way would be a problem. You can rate songs low and they’ll rarely if ever show up in random setlists.
But probably together.
Need to know 2 things here…
1) Will the GameStop three be available for anybody to purchase in the market? If so, that deal is the weakest link (least valuable by $4). If not… it’s the only deal on the table.
2) Will the $10 deals apply to the keyboard+disc bundle, or just the disc? Because the cost of the bundle is already $10 less than the cost of the two together, so if I buy RB3 for $60 and they take $10 off the cost of the $80 keyboard, I still pay $130, or the cost of the bundle — so why bother with making it two purchases? If you get the $10 credit for the bundle, that takes it down to $120, and that’s nice. Well, it’s still $130, but then we turn around and buy a 1600MSP card and get that for $10.
Also, are the in-game guitars for your avatar or for your RB3 character? Because I’m the vocalist and my wife is the drummer. We care not for stringed axes in this humble home.
Most our games in canada are 59.99 but some games who wanna milk it for all they can get put up a price of 69.99.
I like Gamestop’s bonus best. Sure it’s not worth as much as the $10 gift cards and credits and stuff, but to make use of those gift cards, you’re going to have to buy something else. With Gamestop I’m able to just download my songs and not have to spend more money to get my bonus. Not to mention we don’t know how long of a wait everyone else will have on the bonus songs.

KEWB, unless you can use that $10 gift card to get the 1600 Microsoft Points card ($20) from Amazon. Essentially your $10 gift card would get you 800 Microsoft Points, and considering RB songs are 150 Microsoft Points, you get 5 songs this way.
This is I-F you can use the $10 gift card to buy the MS Points card…
