Audio Interview with RBN Artist: Rusty Cooley

When it comes down to it, there are two types of people that play games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. The first type of people play it because it’s fun and they like the music. That’s the categ0ry I fall in. If there’s a song I like that comes out as DLC, I’m going to buy, no matter the difficulty of the charts. I have a feeling the majority of people that play these games fall into this first category, however casual they may be. The second group is the die-hards, many of whom check out this site, and are constantly on the lookout for the next DLC track that is going to challenge their ever-increasing plastic guitar playing dexterity. It is rare that an artist comes along with music that fits into both categories, but I recently had a chance to speak to one.

Thanks to Trav and Dylan, I had a chance to chat with Rusty Cooley recently over Skype, who has been recognized by Guitar One magazine as one of the ten fastest shredders in the world. If you want something that’s going to challenge him, wait until you see what he has coming to the Rock Band Network! Listen to our hour-plus long conversation with Rusty, who tells us about himself, his music, his love for Dethklok, and his enthusiasm about Rock Band.

Thank you very much, Rusty! For more info about Rusty Cooley, check out his official site and his YouTube channel. He will have a number of songs coming to the Rock Band Network in the future, including “The Butcher,” “Under the Influence,” “The Duel,” and more! Directly below is a playlist of some of these songs, followed by a video from his YouTube channel of him in action.

Damn my PS3. I’ll have to wait an eternity for just one of these songs.

  • Kirksplosion says:

    Great interview. Grandpa’s guitars, hahaha.

  • Trav says:

I just want to mention that Rusty Cooley was passed along safely to RockGamer Studios, and will not be handled by Freen in Green for a multitude of real-life issues that came up recently. Don’t worry, though, they’ll handle it just as well, or better!
