RhythmReplay.com: Rhythm Gaming Peripheral Secondary Market
We’ve been working on this for awhile, and it looks like we can finally spill the beans on a new site we’ve created for the rhythm gaming community.
As I’m sure many of you are well aware, it’s become much harder to get your hands on new gaming peripherals for your favorite rhythm game. Since the last new Rock Band and Guitar Hero titles have been released, shelf space at local big box retailers has dwindled for new peripherals, and it seems like online retailers have been shouldering much of the responsibility for satisfying your hardware requirements.
But one of the problems we have seen, and has been becoming increasingly worse over the last few months, is that some online retailers have completely run out of stock on specific instruments. While we can’t help out with creating stock for new hardware, we can help match up people that may be able to satisfy each others’ rhythm gaming needs. Since places like Gamestop won’t even buy back used peripherals, we figured that because there is a still a high enough demand in the community for rhythm gaming peripherals, we would set up a site for fans of the rhythm gaming community to buy and sell their gently used peripherals to each other.
We urge you to head on over and check out the site. If it looks like something you and your friends would like, please spread the word! If you have any spare instruments lying around that you would like to get rid of, or are trying to find a replacement for a broken instrument, definitely try out the site. If you have any feedback on what could be improved or changed, hit up the Contact page.

My son works for a used record/CD/video game store. He says the reason they don’t take used peripherals is because they are almost always broken. Not like 10%, but like 95% of the time.
I haven’t checked the site out, but that would be my major concern purchasing a piece of used rock band equipment.

Definitely a big concern, and we’re hoping to keep that exposure low by “keeping it in the community.”
Sent a message about the wired RB2 drums. I didn’t even know there was such a thing but I’d dig having them. I don’t need wireless drums – my kit never moves so I’d rather have the added reliability of a wire…

I saw that too and was like, whaaat?
And the timestamps seem a little off. I think my only issue is that it might be a little tricky to meet up local people unless it really takes off. I just know I’d have little desire to pay for shipping.
I’ve had pretty good luck with Craigslist so far, but finding some of the “better” items like an ION drumset is pretty rare.

The timestamps were off for the peripherals I put on there, because I actually put them on there waaaaay back then. I’ve been making many smaller details to the site and the functionality, as well as getting feedback from a few people, since that time. Timestamps for new items posted will be accurate (someone has already added something new).
Craigslist is kinda the de facto service to use. I can’t say anything bad about it. I just think that if someone has something more rare or higher value among the rhythm gaming community (like the IONs, or a RB3 Fender Squier for example), it may get more attention from a focused community than Craigslist.
No worries if it doesn’t work. Just trying to bring fans together that have similar needs!

Good deal. I hope it takes off. If I happen to see an ION set go up at a reasonable price, I’d probably grab it up.

Craigslist has been very good to me! I host Rock Band nights here in Vegas and have been looking for a second and third mic for harmony, i found a “Pro” mic licensed by rock band (the $40 one) for $5. And the following day i got the best deal ever! I was looking for the 3rd mic, and i came across a great package. 1 mic, 1 keyboard, 1 RB3 guitar and 1 RB3 wireless drums, all together for $40! I only needed the mic, but i figured, hey why not? Cant hurt to have extra instruments.
Hell i payed $75 for the keyboard alone, this was a steal. I almost felt like i was robbing the people..lol But everything was pretty much new, tested and working perfectly!
Its hit and miss, and you have to check every day, but once in a while, it pays off.
As for ION’s i see them on craigslist all the time, just buy what ever set looks good, they are not always for the system you use, but you can buy a module for your system pretty cheap now.

I’d imagine that Vegas has a much more robust craigslist (probably than anywhere else in the US, given the gambling), much more than my part of the country. I have a phone app constantly looking over the local craigslist for an ION set, but the one that I found posted in the last 4 months, the seller backed out and decided he didn’t want to sell it anymore.
On the other hand, I picked up a practically new RB2 set for $5 last year.

Well i wouldnt say its for the gambling, the housing market here is terrible, and people are selling stuff left and right to make ends meet, and with that comes stuff like video games for cheap. We have a few used video game stores here, and one in fact has a brand new set of RB2 box set for 360 still in the original box. it was crazy seeing that..lol
Now my next venture is to get a pro guitar, 2 would be nice. I think ill take my extra keyboard and mod it, i already started to mod my other guitars.
Fantastic idea!
Just hit up Toys R Us, if you have an X-box, they got copies of Band Hero Full band set coming out of the nose. If you have a Wii or PS3, good luck, those sold out like 2 years ago.

GH drums suck
Great website!
Would it be interesting to have a way to also post what we want to buy, instead of only searching through the available stuff?

Great idea, thought of the same thing. I’d love to pick up some RB2 or newer drums to finally try out pro drums, still have RB1 drums so I can’t get the cymbals, but Im not into drumming enough to want to spend a lot of money on them. I’ll definitely keep an eye on this site for a good deal.

Yes. I originally had that in mind, but it looks like that functionality got left behind somehow. I’ll see if I can build that back in. Thanks for the feedback!
Good idea. I just got a some extra mics and another drum set from a co worker(barely used), and I have no use for a 3rd drumset and 5th mic. Will check out the site later tonight
think I will stick with ebay. Substantially more exposure. but yeah, good luck?

Thanks?
One thing I noticed, your search field allows words of 4 letters or longer. I play on the Wii., so the first thing I typed in was Wii, which didn’t work. I’d LOVE to get a wii Hofner bass, but it would be nice to search wii instuments for the tiny minority of us that play on that system.

Oooh… good catch. I’ll see if I can add that in. Thanks for the feedback!
I seriously have had major problems trying to find RB3 drums pro. I even bid for a used one as high as $195 but some other dude bid mad high.

California, I’d pay shipping though…
This sounds great.
Theoretically, how much would a dusty GHWT guitar with a broken strum bar sell for?

No idea. What you can do is put a ball park estimate, and accept the best offer.
