Rush’s 2112 DLC Coming Soon? [UPDATED]

I’m not able to corroborate this rumor, so take this with a huge grain of salt, but Guillaume recently sent us the above picture, taken earlier today from the French Xbox 360 Rock Band store.
There are a number of things that don’t make sense in the above picture (DLC doesn’t come out on Fridays, no individual track titles listed, album artwork missing) so unfortunately my gut tells me this probably isn’t happening, but if it is… I think a lot of people are going to be happy.
UPDATE 1: RockBand.com user “joerockbandplay” saw the same thing, and captured the image below:

UPDATE 2: With the DLC announcement for 12/13 which brought three Rush tracks, this statement was also on the official announcement:
These three tracks are just the tip of the iceberg for Rush fans; we’ll have even more exciting Rush/Rock Band news before the year’s out, so stay tuned!

What if there was a date typo? Jan 4 instead of Dec 4? 2112 the first week of 2012 sounds pretty right to me.

Le Rush Vingt et un douze?
L’hâte Vingt et un douze?
DLC doesn’t have the artist displayed like that in the store. Look at all the others in the screenshot.
Hasn’t the french store shown info early before? I regularly try the URL trick to see if any 2112 is coming, and its still not working (but that doesn’t mean its not).
2112 and Rush in general are among my favorite bands of all time, and the sheer epicness of an UNSPLIT version of 2112 in RB would simply be amazing. I’m not going to get my hopes up too much, but it is about time we got another Rush album, and we do know that both the song 2112 and their music in general IS available to put into these games.
Personally, I’m still hoping for Rock Band RUSH, with their entire discography. But I know its not coming, and if it does its not in the works now.
It could however be displaying a pack called “Rush 2112″ and that might include the song in 7 parts. If it was accidentally uploaded then that could explain the date and lack of art.
i hope not, i’d want it in all it’s 20 minute glory
I wouldn’t be surprised if a rush pack is released on TUESDAY 20/12/2012, a day before 21/12…2012.
I’m lying. I probably would be.
Did something happen to the “Permanent Waves” masters?
Wondering why we haven’t seen “Freewill” or “Spirit of the Radio” yet.

The live version of Spirit in GH5 was fantastic – if we got a version of Freewill from the same tour I would be deliriously happy.
I hope this turns out to be true and not a fake. BTW, there is a 2nd picture someone posted in the RB thread.

If it’s released in one piece, I wonder how they would price it.
OsagaTheGreat Reply:

Probably $2. It’s still only 1 song. I’m curious how they’d price a 2112 pack

One song or not, I don’t think it would be the least bit unreasonable for Harmonix to charge an extra dollar for it. It’s, what, 22 minutes long?
Whizzer Reply:

They charge the same for ‘Thank You Boys’, which is only one minute, and not very complex.
They even charge the same for ‘Master/Slave’ which is a hidden track on Ten.

And, by the way, it’s case IN point.
OsagaTheGreat Reply:
December 4th, 2011 at 10:40 am
I don’t think an extra dollar would be unreasonable for 2112 either. It’d be more likely that they’d charge extra by releasing it as a RUSH 2112 7-Pack.
“And, by the way, it’s case IN point.”
Whoops! My mistake!

Splitting 2112 (the song) into seven separate pieces of DLC would produce a fan-made shitstorm the likes of which Harmonix has never encountered before.

It could be a Ozzy Pack sort of thing as in the 7 parts are available individually but if you buy the pack at a severe discount ($4) you get the song as 1 part plus a Pro upgrade
This isn’t unheard of. People bought Average White Band ahead of schedule. And there was that one woman who’s song “Nirvana” randomly appeared along side thw DLC pack for the week.

I’m Canadian and couldn’t give a flying fig about Rush. 2112 was one of the main reasons I didn’t buy Warriors of Rock. At least with this DLC, I can avoid it altogether.

Heck, I would sacrifice a baby goat in order to get “Sowing Season [Yeah]” by Brand New from GH5. I think that’s probably unlikely, which is probably good for the hypothetical goat.
The lack of track names could mean that they’re doing what they did with the Abbey Road medley, making the parts only available in the pack and including a 20-minute track of the full song.

Could very well be true. My only problem with this is that I can see “2112″ eating up an entire week’s slot of DLC.

Interesting theory here, but it’s possible with 2112 HMX could force you to buy full album instead of pick individual songs, kinda like they did with some of the songs off Abbey Road, in order to get them you had to buy the whole album.

yeah absolutely like the only way that this album should be experience is in its entirety. That’s why even GH put the full album in the game instead of a few songs, because 1 or 2 songs by themselves makes no sense. So if they did do it like that, I’d have no problem.
smacd Reply:
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:29 am
GH didn’t put the entire album in, they only put in the entire A side of the album, the 2112 suite. There are several other songs other than 2112 on the B side.
Xanadu Reply:

They also cut it up into pieces and frankensteined the most iconic parts. If this is true, I will happily throw that terrible game away.
smacd Reply:
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:33 pm
I agree. They butchered it, which is why I never bothered with that last GH game. It would have been better on RB3 with the keys anyway. I trust Harmonix to do the song justice should this be true.
how many times have these “Rumors” been true? Pretty often, I say this is coming sometime soon
After seeing two months of less than desirable (for me) DLC, I hope it happens. Would get it as soon as it becomes available.

I should have elaborated more (because I also prefer the Different Stages version of 2112). I didn’t want that hybrid crap that Guitar Hero pulled. Overture and Temples were horrendous.
REALLY hope this is true, Rush plus Queen would make December the best month of DLC all year. It would be awesome to have 2112 as one giant song, but I think it’s more likely they’d break it up. Not into 7 pieces like GH, that was a terrible idea. But the song definitely has some natural breaking points they could use. Something like what they did with Abbey Road would be sweet; make them available separately, but if you buy the whole pack, you get an extra file with all of the songs as one. I guess we’ll see though…
jfh2112 Reply:
December 3rd, 2011 at 5:12 am
But 2112 *is* seven movements. That’s why GH has it split up that way.
But yeah, I definitely agree, we should be able to play it straight through as one song.
Holy fucking shit 2112 to rockband PLEASE yes. I HATE how guitar hero threw mad money at artits and took so many amazing things away like 2112 and metallica.
Also I pray the 2112 song would be in a full version. If there was any way to ruin the song it was the way GH did it by splitting it all up as different songs. I want the full 20 min song in 1 piece. And La villa Strangiato pro mode while were at it. Then a few more metallica songs and my life would be complete.

RB fan boy here
It’s so strange to me that it’s listed as Rush 2112
but I want this to be true so hard!
Mixed feelings: More Rush is always good, but an entire album of music that I’ll probably have to drop down to medium (on drums) to play comes with a certain amount of frustration.
If this was released as a 20 minute song, just think of the insane amount of points that may be possible on any instrument. Possibly 1 million+ on guitar.

There are a TON of chords in the first two sections alone, and a few badass guitar solos with tons of notes in the fourth and final sections. 1M would be easy if you can handle expert.
If true, I hope they handle this like they did the Abbey Road Medley.

I can only wonder where the time limit is. I know of two much longer songs I would certainly like to have, and while they are unlikely to ever come to the game, considering the current DLC trends, I would hate for technology to prevent them from coming, or delivering them in a less then ideal way.
Croq Reply:
December 6th, 2011 at 9:47 am
I really wish that they had offered We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions to also be playable as a non-stop track, or just have put them out as a single track all-together. Whenever you hear it on the radio, 99% of the time, that’s how they play it. Pre-RB3, you could put the songs right after each other and play them like that (much longer break than on the album, but you could do it). But now, you have to go through that song rating screen in between.
If this is true, it will be the first dlc I will be very excited about in a long time.
I really don’t like Rush at all but I’m glad to see the news (or rumor) is making others happy at least.
Im guessing itll be a 1200 pt pack and if you buy it you get the whole thing as a single track as well as the seperate parts.

This is practically a confirmation as far as i’m concerned!
The RBN songs listed for December 3rd in the second pic (“Cheesy Pop Song”, “March Into Hell”, etc.) had pages on the Rock Band website, but they were pulled and now give a 404 error. All have passed Peer Review, but will not come out officially until Thursday. So there was definitely some kind of glitch where pending songs appeared in the store and on the website before official release.
