More DLC Coming From The Who on February 7th!
Ever since I heard the announcement that The Who were playing the half time show at the Super Bowl, I was wondering if Rock Band would be trying to leverage the appearance, based on their history with the band, as well as some on-again, off-again rumors of a The Who: Rock Band.
Well it looks like eagle eyed RockBand.com forum goer b70x7n was able to not only find a commercial teaser on VH1 Classic today of some post Super Bowl DLC, but was also cool enough to grab a few screen grabs from the commercial and post them.
No details yet on what the songs may be (could be the medley that Pete Townshend was talking about for all we know), but as soon as I find out additional details, you’ll know where to find them!
[Thanks to @toymachinesh for the heads up!]
The Who: Rock Band – Sooner Than We Thought?
Just caught wind of this posting over at HMV.com, the large UK music/video/game retailer, for a listing of The Who: Rock Band (look quick, I’m sure it’ll be pulled down quickly down already, but you can still see it in the search bar if you type in any combo of who, rock, and band). No release date, but it’s listed as Coming Soon. Not sure what they know that many of us do not, but to be this brazen to put an item listing up for an as yet unconfirmed item is pretty shocking. I mean, we already know that Roger Daltrey has been talking about it, but are we going to see this soon? My gut is telling me that this will be similar to the AC/DC Live pack, especially considering The Who tracks that have already been released, as opposed to a more Beatles: Rock Band approach.
UPDATE: Received quick word back from John Drake in PR at Harmonix to the question “Was this just inadvertently confirmed.” His response: “Nope.”
What say you? Are we going to be seeing The Who: Rock Band… and possibly fairly soon?
The Who: Rock Band in Development?

According to The Who’s lead singer Roger Daltrey, this is in the works:
Q:The Beatles are the latest band to be featured in a video game, “The Beatles: Rock Band.”
A:The game, yeah, yeah, they’re going to be doing a Who one next year. There is one planned. (The idea) is fabulous. Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful. In my opinion, music is our last true great freedom. They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can’t stop us singing and making music.
I think The Beatles: Rock Band was a great idea. I believe they were one of the only bands with both an engaging, storied, and near legendary background, as well as have a robust enough catalog to fill an entire game with memorable, quality songs. There have been rumors of Queen, U2, and Green Day-specific Rock Band games, and I don’t want to see Rock Band echo what has happened with the Guitar Hero franchise (see IGN’s brutal review of GH:Van Halen here).
Thoughts?
