Is the Pearl Jam Live Project Coming as DLC?

For those who may not have originally heard, or need a refresher, Rock Band officially announced back in 2009 that they were teaming up with Rhapsody to let Pearl Jam fans choose the best versions of their songs to be featured in a forthcoming Rock Band project. However, the announcement came during the height of the rhythm gaming trend, and the genre has cooled off significantly since then.
Since that time, the question has been asked to Harmonix several times about whether this was still going to happen or not. While I had just recently told someone on Formspring that chances were good that it was no longer happening, it appears that I may have spoken too soon.
Over at RockBand.com, several people have discovered a number of links to RockBand.com for placeholders for live versions of Pearl Jam songs via the “url guessing game,” where people take advantage of RockBand.com’s naming conventions to guess imminent DLC releases, typically with remarkably reliable results. So far, the following live Pearl Jam songs have been found.
- Animal (Live)
- Better Man (Live)
- Black (Live)
- Brain of J. (Live)
- Breakerfall (Live)
- Comatose (Live)
- Crazy Mary (Live)
- Daughter (Live)
- Do the Evolution (Live)
- Even Flow (Live)
- The Fixer (Live)
- Got Some (Live)
- Green Disease (Live)
- Hail, Hail (Live)
- I Am Mine (Live)
- In My Tree (Live)
- Life Wasted (Live)
- Love Boat Captain (Live)
- Low Light (Live)
- Marker in the Sand (Live)
- Porch (Live)
- Red Mosquito (Live)
- Rockin’ in the Free World (Live)
- Severed Hand (Live)
- Spin the Black Circle (Live)
- Who You Are (Live)
- World Wide Suicide (Live)
- Yellow Ledbetter (Live)
- You Are (Live)
UPDATE: The URL’s linked to above all 404 out now that the cat is out of the bag. To those who didn’t check out the links in time, this is one example of what the pages looked like (Thanks Andrew!):

NOTE: The playlist contains the studio versions of the songs, as there is no telling which live version may be included as rumored DLC.
Incubus 5-pack Coming in August? [UPDATE: 3-pack]

Steve Rennie, manager of alternative rock band Incubus, was asked about the possibility of future DLC on Twitter last night, and his response was pretty specific, listing the five songs that are probably coming to the game sometime in August. These five would join the sole Incubus song Dig, included on the LEGO Rock Band disc. While there is no indication of what songs may include Pro-Guitar/Bass features, as you can see in the pic above (Rennie’s actual tweet is here), the songs include:
- Adolescents
- Megalomaniac
- Pardon Me
- Stellar
- Wish You Were Here
UPDATE: @HMXHenry posted the following response over on the RockBand.com forums:
Confirmed, but only partially.
There will be an Incubus 3 pack coming in August, and it will include Adolescents, Pardon Me and Wish You Were Here. Not sure where those other two tracks came from (we may be talking with them about licensing them) but they’re not part of the pack in August and they’re not on the DLC spreadsheet in the near future.

Another Round of URL “Hacking” Finds Heart, More DLC

It’s been just over a month since a number of people went searching through the RockBand.com artist URL pages looking for future artist DLC. With the exception of EMF, all of the artists uncovered have arrived as Pro Guitar/Bass DLC, so don’t be surprised if Unbelievable appears in the Pro Guitar/Bass DLC announcement this Friday.
While this “hack” only works for artists that currently have no DLC, the latest round has uncovered only two gems so far (expect updates if more are found). While Heart has made a number of appearances in Guitar Hero titles, this find may signal the band’s first appearance in the Rock Band franchise. Here are the bands found thus far:

Puddle of Mudd DLC Rumor Becomes Less “Blurry”

Not too long ago, we learned through some URL magic over at RockBand.com that Puddle of Mudd may be making their way into Rock Band in the not too distant future. And according to a recent interview with Puddle of Mudd guitarist Paul Phillips, we can indeed expect to see the band soon in game.
On Matty P’s Radio Happy Hour, Paul Phillips talked a lot about the current state of the music industry, and commented on how many bands are looking into alternative revenue sources, particularly in avenues such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero. When pressed about whether the recent rumor was true, he confirmed that Puddle of Mudd is definitely coming, but that the songs arriving on the platform are still in limbo, citing that publishers have a bigger impact on this decision than the artist.
It’s a great listen, and I highly suggest you check out the entire podcast and interview here, particularly Paul’s comments regarding Rock Band (starting at about 68 minutes in).
Official Site URL “Hack” Hints at Poison, Live, A-Ha, more DLC?

The “old” URL hacking technique over at RockBand.com seems to have occurred again, this time with select industrious individuals dropping in the names of some well known artists and finding some interesting placeholders. Many have done this in the past, and the results don’t stay up for long, but this technique is fairly successful at uncovering future DLC offerings. It worked back in September of last year, uncovering Bob Marley, My Chemical Romance, and Doobie Brothers DLC, and again in March, with Foo Fighters, Fleetwood Mac, and more.
This time, this was what was uncovered, along with the link to the placeholder artist page at RockBand.com:
If you find any more, include them below in the comments, and be sure to stop back as I update this post!

Roy Orbison DLC Coming April 26th

Big thanks to Troy for giving us the heads up on this! According to a few sites including guitar maker Gibson.com and music news site AntiMusic.com comes word that we will be seeing a three pack of Roy Orbison tracks dropping as DLC next week in a pack called the “Roy Orbison: 75th Birthday Pack.” The pack will include the following songs (no word yet on which songs may include Pro-Guitar/Bass features):
- Blue Bayou
- Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream)
- Only the Lonely (Know the Way I Feel)
The DLC appears to coincide with the release of Roy Orbison: The Monument Singles Collection, a 2 CD/1 DVD set of Roy’s digitally remastered music.
Still not official until Harmonix confirms tomorrow, but this looks pretty certain to be (hopefully part of) Friday’s DLC announcement.
