Rock Band 3 Arriving 10/31 with a $130 Keyboard Bundle?

According to website Gamervision.com, an internal document sent from a source (who has allegedly been accurate in the past) inside of Gamestop lists Rock Band 3 releasing on Sunday, October 31, 2010. No word on what console(s) this may be.

The same source also mentions that the keyboard bundle for Rock Band 3 will set gamers back $129.99. No mention on if this bundle includes more than just a keyboard and the game.

Let’s keep this in the rumor column for now, but the date at least can’t be too far off.

In other news, my birthday is October 30, 2010.  Just sayin’.

No Love for the Cool Keyboard Player?!

Thought I’d throw this out there before everyone takes off to enjoy their weekend. This is comedian Steve Byrne (who I got a picture with and snubbed an oddly put-off Vince Vaughn at a comedy festival) talking about the hierarchy of rock bands. Anyone care to guess where the keyboard player comes in?

Harmonix Confirms Keyboard Support for Rock Band 3

Here’s a nice little Friday afternoon surprise for everyone. If the Rock Band 3 teaser screen at the end of the Green Day: Rock Band demo wasn’t enough, @HMXThrasher confirmed on the RockBand.com Forums this afternoon that Rock Band 3 will indeed include keyboard support. No further details yet, so we’ll have to sit tight for all the goodness at E3 in a few weeks.

Rock Band to Include Keytar, “Pro” Mode?

Image from Ars Technica

Tech site Ars Technica seems to have gotten a few bits of insider information about Rock Band 3. According to their “Mole,” Rock Band 3′s keyboard peripheral is more of a keytar, and less of a keyboard. They went on to explain that not only has Mad Catz has taken over the hardware production for Rock Band, but also the distribution, so expect to see different bundles released when Rock Band 3 comes out. There will also be exclusive bundles to certain retailers. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised to see an “upgrade bundle,” that would feature only the new peripherals unique to Rock Band 3.

Harmonix will continue to focus on the software, which Ars Technica goes on to tease a “pro mode” according to their source, potentially teaching a more realistic way to play actual instruments.

No evidence for anything of this, so let’s keep it in the rumor column until we get more official details at E3.

Are These the New Rock Band 3 Features?

Less than three weeks away from Rock Band 3 being officially unveiled to the world at E3, and the buzz seems to get bigger each day. Yesterday saw the release of the Green Day: Rock Band demo, with a special tease at the end of the possibility of a new keyboard peripheral being added to the next franchise installment.

A Harmonix patent recently dug up on Google talks about a number of features that currently don’t exist in any Rock Band title. Let me preface by saying first that while the features outlined in the document may be more patent squatting than anything else, it is interesting to see what other ideas Harmonix has been tossing around behind the scenes. It is also important to note that this patent was filed 6/16/08, and issued on 12/1/09, so these very well may be features that never made it into the final Rock Band 2 product.

Green Day Demo Teases Rock Band 3 Keyboard

First of all, it appears that a Green Day: Rock Band demo was released this morning on Xbox Live (download link) with full offline band play (including harmonies) for two songs: “Welcome to Paradise” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” but that’s not the big news…

Apparently there’s a splash screen at the end of the two song demo that shows the four Rock Band instrument icons, with the addition of a new instrument icon with what appears to be a keyboard!

More details to follow…

[Thanks, Shagrath!]
