Buy One, Get TWO Rhythm Games Deal Friday at Gamestop

Outside of Rock Band, I still play a lot of video games. I don’t have the time I used to have to play, so I’m constantly sitting on a queue of deals that I randomly pick up. And in my aversion to clutter, when I finish a game I know I’m not going to play again or for a long while, I try to get rid of them via Amazon Trade-In or Glyde while they still have some value. If I ever get nostalgic for a game I’ve played in the past, I can always head over to Gamestop to pick it up again on the cheap. So to happen upon a deal like this, I’m probably going to pick up several titles I haven’t played for awhile.
For members of Gamestop’s “PowerUp Rewards” program, on Friday December 16th ONLY, they are featuring a promo titled “Buy Any 1 Pre-Owned Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, Band Hero, or Rock Band game, and Get 2 FREE!” (Offer valid in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam only.)
This is a KILLER deal for achievement whores, fanboys, and basically anyone else that wants to get in on some CHEAP rhythm gaming fun. The titles subject to the promotion, along with prices (Xbox 360, specifically), are listed below:

Don’t Tase Me, Bro!
I could have told you this, but it doesn’t look like GameStop, PCP, and Rock Band 3 mix. Apparently, a man under the influence on PCP at a Maryland GameStop was playing Rock Band with various pieces of merchandise strewn about the store. Two officers entered the store and tried to calm the man down, but apparently rock answers to no one, as the man responded by shouting profanity, throwing the guitar at the window, and knocking everything off store displays. After a third officer arrived on the scene, they decided they had enough and ended the potentially dangerous situation with the dreaded taser.
You can check out a brief moment from the altercation on the video below.

Rock Band 3 Canadian Gamestop Pre-Order DLC Promotion
How does it feel… to treat me like you do, Gamestop? Looks like Gamestop will be having another pre-order promo with Rock Band 3. On the Canadian Gamestop page for Rock Band 3, there was a little tidbit at the bottom. Pre-order from them, and you’ll receive a voucher to download three songs:
- Talking Heads – Burning Down the House
- Deftones – My Own Summer
- New Order – Blue Monday
Oh, and before anyone freaks out about the price, that’s in Canadian dollars, which is what they normally pay for new retail games. Crazy Canucks!

Official Green Day: Rock Band Price/Release Date
A press release just went out (and it looks like a post on the forums, as well) that the official release date will indeed be June 8th, 2010. The game will have a simultaneous release across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The price for Xbox 360 and PS3 will be $59.99 and $49.99 for the Wii.
There is also a $69.99 version coming out for the Xbox 360 and PS3 (in the US and Canada only) that includes “special packaging, export, and six Green Day DLC tracks.”
The game will include over 100 collectible images, similar to the Beatles: Rock Band, as well as more than 40 minutes of rare and unreleased video from interviews, outtakes, and performances.
The game will ship with 47 tracks (and some tracks may contain more than one song… see the previous post below). As announced here earlier, all 47 are fully exportable into other Rock Band, Rock Band 2, and Rock Band 3 (which in theory means that all other Rock Band DLC will be supported in Rock Band 3).
Also of note is the fact that the six Green Day DLC tracks already available can be played in Green Day: Rock Band with added vocal harmonies, unique performance visuals, and exclusive archival material.
Green Day: Rock Band is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB, which means those dirty words will probably be edited out.
UPDATE: @HMXHenry reached out to me to let me know this VERY tantalizing tidbit: If you pre-order the game from GameStop, it comes with a FREE code to export the songs on launch day into Rock Band! If you’re going to get the non-special version, it seems like a no brainer to get it from GameStop!
Green Day: Rock Band Coming June 1st for $59.99?
There’s been no official word out of Harmonix about the official release day for Green Day: Rock Band, but video game retailer Gamestop may have spilled the beans on when we can expect this on our next gen consoles. Right now, Gamestop is listing Green Day: Rock Band releasing on Tuesday, June 1st. I know Gamestop has inadvertently done this before, but sometimes they’re aren’t always right. This would make sense, however. It would be the perfect time for the game to come out, with all kids being home from school for the summer (which is arguably their target demo for this game). Gamestop is also listing the price at $59.99 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, and $49.99 for the Wii.
Does any of this info (particularly the price) change your purchasing decisions?

Salem and Rios (Army of Two) Play Rock Band
Found this over at Destructoid yesterday. Never played Army of Two, so I honestly barely know who these characters are, nor do I usually shop at GameStop. But I’m guessing at least one of you out there will get a kick out of this… right?
