Buy One, Get TWO Rhythm Games Deal Friday at Gamestop

Outside of Rock Band, I still play a lot of video games. I don’t have the time I used to have to play, so I’m constantly sitting on a queue of deals that I randomly pick up. And in my aversion to clutter, when I finish a game I know I’m not going to play again or for a long while, I try to get rid of them via Amazon Trade-In or Glyde while they still have some value. If I ever get nostalgic for a game I’ve played in the past, I can always head over to Gamestop to pick it up again on the cheap. So to happen upon a deal like this, I’m probably going to pick up several titles I haven’t played for awhile.
For members of Gamestop’s “PowerUp Rewards” program, on Friday December 16th ONLY, they are featuring a promo titled “Buy Any 1 Pre-Owned Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, Band Hero, or Rock Band game, and Get 2 FREE!” (Offer valid in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam only.)
This is a KILLER deal for achievement whores, fanboys, and basically anyone else that wants to get in on some CHEAP rhythm gaming fun. The titles subject to the promotion, along with prices (Xbox 360, specifically), are listed below:
- Rock Band – $2.99

Toys”R”Us Puts Rock Band 3 on Sale at $10
Have you ever looked at the clearance bins at Toys”R”Us? They are an abysmal wasteland full of Wii shovelware, Playstation 2 titles you’ve never heard of, and failed SEGA games. Now, however, it seems as though there might be something worth your time in those very bins; a diamond in the rough, if you will.
Okay, so we’re not so sure if Rock Band 3 is reallyphysically in the “clearance bins,” but at this price it might as well be. Toys”R”Us currently has Rock Band 3 available for $10. If you think about it, this is truly an insane deal. Has any game that garnered such critical and fan acclaim been available at this price less than a year after release?
The game is currently sold out online, but you can order it for in-store pickup, which should secure the $10 price point, given your local store’s availability. We’re not telling you that you’re insane to not take Toys”R”Us up on this deal, but if you don’t have Rock Band 3 yet, you have a Toys”R”Us near you, and you still won’t get it with this sale, why are you on this site?
You can view the Playstation 3 versionhere and the Wii version here. For some reason the Xbox 360 version wasn’t listed on the website.
Great Rock Band 3 Deals Now Available!

When Rock Band 3 came out last October, it was a critical success, scoring a 93 on Metacritic, which was good enough to place in the Top 5 of all games released in 2010. Unfortunately, critical successes don’t always translate into stellar sales, and as I’m sure all of you are aware now, rhythm gaming isn’t the cash cow it used to be. Now, going on close to 6 months out from release date, there are some pretty remarkable prices for both the games and the peripherals to be had. In fact, Harmonix has recently announced that Rock Band 3′s new retail price is only $19.99! If for some reason you haven’t picked it up (WHAT?!), there’s no reason to hold out now!
Amazon:
- Rock Band 3 (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii) – $19.33-$19.96
- Rock Band 3 (Nintendo DS) – $6.49
GameShark (MadCatz):
- 10% off select Rock Band products at GameShark and FREE shipping with code “SPRING11″
- Buy a Rock Band 2 Double Single Cymbal Expansion Kit and get a FREE Single Cymbal Expansion Kit – $29.99
- Rock Band 3 Wireless Fender Wooden Stratocaster Replica – Candy Apple Red Metallic Finish for Xbox 360 - $99.99
- Rock Band 3 Wireless Fender Wooden Stratocaster Replica – Sunburst for Xbox 360 - $99.99
OK, Let’s Act Civilized…
Now, I’m a sucker for a good deal, Rock Band or otherwise, but let’s slow down a little bit here, people. On Black Friday, Wal-Mart was selling the original Rock Band bundle for $50. That’s a pretty good deal, but still not good enough to coax me out of a nice slumber and into the cold Midwest weather. That and I already own 4 different bundles for 2 consoles. But check out this scene someone was able to record of the melee that ensued once the masses were unleashed upon the Rock Band goodness. And… GO!
FYI, if any of these people asked me nicely, I would have given them my older Rock Band instruments.

Play Rock Band, Win DLC at Old Navy
Old Navy is the place to be next week for all your Rock Band needs! The FREE Lego Rock Band deal was confirmed this morning on their promotional website: Gobblepalooza.com (oh, I get it…). I’ve included the official details below on helping you score a free copy, too.
But in addition to the Lego Rock Band deal, it also appears that select stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day. And these stores will have Rock Band setup for you and your family to come down and play! That could be pretty fun… if you have a cool family, that is. Not enough incentive to get you down there? OK. Old Navy will also be handing out scratch-off game pieces with one grand prize (per store) of a $200 Old Navy gift card, but two out of every seven pieces will have codes for FREE DLC!
I also found this as an interesting note in the official rules for the free DLC promotion: “Chance of winning does not increase with skill at Rock Band.“ Dammit!
Official FREE Lego Rock Band details:
Prior to store opening on Friday, November 27th in the US (Saturday, November 28 in Canada excluding Quebec), customers will form a line outside the store, and a store associate(s) will pass out one wristband per person aged 16 or older, starting with the front of the line while supplies last. There are an extremely limited amount of available wristbands per store which will be distributed on a first come first served basis and Old Navy can not quarantee that all customes in line will receive a wristband. Wristbands correspond to console platforms (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii), so customers must choose their preferred console from the available wristbands. Old Navy cannot guarantee that your preferred console platform will be available. Subject to availability, wristbands are good for one Lego Rock Band video game in the platform listed on the wristband (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii) with a qualifying purchase of $20 or more, and must be surrendered after purchase. Limit on Lego Rock Band game per person, family or household. Qualifying purchases exclude Gift Cards and applicable taxes. Store hours may vary by location. Check your local store for details. No rainchecks.
The Deals Just Keep On Coming
After seeing another few good deals this afternoon, I think I’m going to post a permanent page under the menu at the top listing all the currently available Rock Band related deals currently available out there, epsecially as we continue to get closer to Black Friday and the holiday season.
The first I noticed was that the Beatles: Rock Band Value Edition (which includes the Rock Band 1 instruments and the Beatles: Rock Band game) is now marked down $40 to the $99.99 at Amazon. That’s a great deal, but not something I would recommend to a fan of the franchise. This would be a must-buy deal for someone that’s a bigger fan of the Beatles and wants to play Rock Band, but doesn’t want to sink a lot of money into playing it. Although it’s more expensive, I would recommend the $99 Rock Band 2 bundle and the standalone Beatles: Rock Band game instead.
The second comes courtesy of RBDLC.com. They noted that starting this weekend, it appears that all of the Rock Band track packs (Classic Rock, Country, Metal, etc.) for all the consoles will be marked down to $19.99 at Best Buy. If you don’t yet have either the Country or Metal track packs, this is a pretty good deal! This is in edition to the $19.99 Rock Band 2 stand-alone disc and the $99.99 Rock Band 2 bundles that Best Buy also is starting this weekend.
I’ll be posting the Deals page soon, that way I don’t have to continue posting good deals as separate pages here.
