Friday DLC Giveaway: Billy Joel Piano Challenge Pack

It seems like it has been awhile since we’ve given stuff away here on the site, so thanks to Harmonix, we’ve recently fallen in to a nice little cache of DLC codes for the Xbox 360 from the past year that we want to help give out. We’ll try to giveaway a different DLC pack each Friday until our stash runs out. First up is the Billy Joel Piano Challenge pack from last March. The songs included are…

  • I Go to Extremes
  • Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway)
  • My Life
  • Prelude/Angry Young Man *
  • Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
  • She’s Always a Woman
* Pro-Guitar/Bass chart availability for $.99.

If this is something that you want to try and win, entry is simple. All you have to do is post a comment below that includes your favorite Rock Band song that has a keys/piano chart. Standard rules apply: one entry per household only, Xbox 360 only, codes are redeemable worldwide (as far as I know). Please include a valid email address (or Twitter account if you don’t want to take off your tin foil hat) with each entry so we can contact the winners.

We’ll let this run through the weekend so everyone has a chance to enter and randomly choose a winner sometime on Monday afternoon (Central time). And since we ALSO have a number of 160 MSP codes, we’ll even randomly give out a “consolation gift” to one entrant, as well!

Good luck!

UPDATE: The contest is now over. Congratulations to Simon for winning the Billy Joel DLC, and Evan for winning the 160 MSP code! Another DLC contest coming on Friday!

Win a RB3 Squier, LOTS More in Latest RBN Contest!

As big fans of Rock Band here on the site, we’re also big fans of contests, so a contest giving away Rock Band gear and more is something that’s definitely going to grab a lot of attention. And the prize for the winner of this is going to be very happy indeed!

RBN authors That Authoring Group (aka TAG) are hosting a contest called the TAG “Endless Setlist,” which features THIRTY of their songs in one massive play list… and you can already probably see where this is going. No one said it was going to be easy! But that’s the bad news. The good news is that the winner will be randomly selected from the Rock Band 3 leaderboards as anyone who has competed the entire setlist on any instrument, so  there’s no need to FC 30 songs in a row.

It gets better, too. Winners of the contest will get the following treasure trove of prizes (this is unbelievable):

  • Entire Trews discography, signed by the band, which includes:
    • House Of Ill Fame CD
    • Den Of Thieves CD
    • No Time For Later CD
    • Acoustic – Friends & Total Strangers CD
    • Acoustic – Friends & Total Strangers DVD
    • Hope & Ruin CD
    • Hope & Ruin Vinyl
  • Signed copy of Rishloo’s Feathergun album
  • Signed Rishloo poster
  • Limited edition very RARE signed Halcyon Way poster
  • Copies of the following CDs:
    • Halcyon Way’s Building the Tower and Indoctrination
    • CYNIC’s Traced in Air
    • THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN’s Option Paralysis
    • SEPTICFLESH Communion
  • Drum sticks and drum tape
  • T-shirts from Fender, Martin, Vic Firth, and other brands
  • Cooler with an iPod dock
  • Bunch of RB stickers (instrument icons and John Dee artwork), pins, wristbands, a RBN tote bag
  • Signed copy of Rock Band 3 for the Xbox 360
  • 3200 MS points

And the pièce de résistance, one FENDER PRO GUITAR and a MIDI ADAPTER for the Xbox 360!

Don’t wait to enter this contest! You have less than THREE DAYS. As of publishing, you have 39 other people to compete with, so the odds are still pretty good for getting the motherlode of Rock Band prize packs! Good luck!

Win a 250gb Xbox 360 by Playing Gladhander’s “Bad Things”

RBN artist Gladhander is throwing a very cool promotion where you have a chance to win a 250gb Xbox 360, as well as some cool swag from the band. You can watch the brief video from the band below explaining the promotion below, but basically, they want to see you and your band actually performing their song Bad Things in a decorated room and in costume, as well as your final score of the song.

And while you need an Xbox 360 to enter, you can win a 250gb Xbox 360, so it may be an upgrade for many. If not, it never hurts to have a spare, I guess.

You can enter the contest via Facebook, and the contest runs through October 27th.

Play Winter Crescent and Enter to Win MSP, Albums

Today, Greek progressive metal band Winter Crescent releases their first song on the Rock Band Network, Battle of Egos Part I. It is available in standard and 2x Bass Pedal versions for 80 Microsoft Points each, and will be joined in the near future by the rest of the songs on their Battle of Egos album.

This song is pretty challenging, and the band hopes to have it available for PS3 users to enjoy. In fact, the band would love nothing more than to have their music on PS3. To do that, it must sell well on Xbox (at least, we know that helps somewhat). So to encourage sales and bring attention to their songs, the band is holding a series of promotions for people brave enough to tackle this song on Expert and capture it on video! So as an incentive for picking up the song and giving it a shot, here are the contests they are sponsoring:

  • Microsoft Points Contest! Five people will receive 3 codes for 160 MSP each (total 480 MSP per winner). The codes will go to the first person to submit a video of themselves getting 100% on Expert for each of the following instruments: Guitar, Bass, Drums, 2x Bass Pedal Drums, Solo Vocals. Either version of the song can be used, except for Drums in which you’ll need the specific version to compete. Only one entry per instrument. The band hopes you’ll use the codes to check out their future offerings on the Rock Band Network, which will each be 80 MSP.
  • Battle of Egos Album Contest! Nine people will receive a free hard copy of the Battle of Egos album (ARV $10 each). To win, you must be one of the first nine people to submit a video of yourself scoring 95% or higher on any instrument on Expert (or 90% on the 2x Bass Pedal drum chart on Expert).
  • Grand Prize Contest! The very first person to get 100% on every single instrument (Harmony not required, either standard or 2x Bass Pedal is fine for drums) in the song (known as a “One-Man-Band Full Combo” or OMBFC) will receive an advance promotional copy of Winter Crescent’s brand new upcoming studio album, which is currently in production will also be coming to Rock Band Network in its entirety! This special copy will be signed by all five members of Winter Crescent as proof that it is the very first print of the album! In addition, for being such a beast, you will also get a copy of the Battle of Egos album and 3 codes for 160 MSP each! (NOTE: New album is not yet completed. Winner will be sent the new album as soon as it is finished and printed.)

So how do you enter? Purchase either Battle of Egos Part I or Battle of Egos Part I (2x Bass Pedal) by Winter Crescent, record a video of yourself playing the song on any instrument (or on all instruments if entering the Grand Prize contest) and upload it to YouTube. Email the link to your YouTube video along with your name and mailing address (required if you enter either the Battle of Egos album contest or the Grand Prize contest) to contest@charttoppersauthoring.com. The first entry received will be the first one counted. Each entrant can only enter one of the three contests, can only submit one entry, and must declare which contest will be entered if the video qualifies for multiple contests.

The band hopes you will spread the word about the songs so PS3 players can enjoy them too, and that you will check out the entire album on Rock Band Network! Good luck to you all, and happy shredding!

RBN Contest Benefits Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

I love seeing stuff like this. We’ve featured a number posts on the site in the past highlighting specific Rock Band Network songs whose authors donate sale proceeds to charity, and I never tire of seeing the Rock Band community help others.

Rock Band Network authors Fairwood Studios and Chart Toppers Authoring have both released songs by country music artist Kylie D. Hart. First was Firehouse Bar, followed by Leave Me Be. Now the two authors have teamed up and are sponsoring a contest called “The Good Hard Luck Contest” to help out the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

If you purchase and play one (or both) of the songs, and send a screenshot of your results screen to @fairwoodstudios or @ChartToppers, you will be entered into a random drawing for several prizes, including lots of 800 Microsoft Points and Kylie D. Hart albums!

And if that’s too difficult, you can also enter by retweeting either Fairwood Studio’s or Chart Topper’s message regarding the contest.  Make sure to be following each of them on Twitter, as well.

Good luck! You have until May 31st to enter.

For more information, head over here for official contest rules.
