Upcoming changes to Rivals Mode detailed

rockbandrivals-2

Harmonix just posted a peek at some upcoming changes to Rock Band Rivals over at the official blog. It looks like we will be seeing some major structural changes to the way that Rivals Mode works. Here’s a quick breakdown of the changes that can be expected in the coming weeks:

  • Seasons – Rivals Mode will now operate on a system of ever-rotating seasonal play, with each season lasting 8 full weeks. This will encourage crews to move up the ranks from Bronze to Bloodstone in that period before the season ends and resets. The blog post hints that there will be some rewards for reaching higher tiers in a season, but they have yet to be detailed.
  • Demotions have been demoted – It will no longer be possible for crews to be demoted. Josh’s blog post states that this is to keep the focus of Rivals Mode on the feeling of being promoted instead of the fear of being demoted.
  • Season 0 – The existing system will count as ‘Season 0’- your progress on this current system will result in some rewards (that have not yet been announced) before Season 1 officially starts.

There are also incoming fixes for several exploits, including the calibration exploits that have been a nuisance for players at the Diamond and Bloodstone levels. Because this will cause some of the top scores on the leaderboards to be unreachable after the fix, Harmonix is looking for community input on leaderboard wipes and have posed three viable options on the blog. Check out the post and provide your feedback on any of the official channels if you like any of the ideas or think you have a better one.

All in all, these changes are exciting. Will this help keep your Rivals buzz going? Let us know in the comments below!
