Rock Band 3 Keys Peripheral Packaging
While nothing too exciting, some may find the packaging for the Rock Band 3 Keys peripheral interesting. Already perfectly holiday-colored for your end of the year wishlist, as well!
And if you haven’t pre-ordered already, what are you waiting for?! There’s only… 38 days left!

Living in a smaller European country sucks, when your hobby is video gaming :/

I’d be really interested in knowing where you found it as i’m a fellow dane who’s been searching furiously for the new peripherals.

That’s going to be the problem here too.. even if that box is written in French I expect to have a hell getting it.

Surely Amazon.fr can help you out?

Although it says it won’t ship until November 30, which is crap.

Kind of boring boxes, but that green really kicks you in the face. Now what do the ones packaged with the game look like? Not that it really matters….

I dunno, when I pre-ordered it, either I wasn’t paying attention correctly, or I’m right, but it said RB3 + Keyboard. So, I’m under the impression that I’m getting the game with the keyboard separate. Or I’m just stupid.
I’m still getting it either way, so… =D
If anyone’s interested in just the keyboard by itself. Buy.com has it for $73 to pre-order.
Right I get…
360 = Green
Wii = White
But why is the PS3 not black?

All PS3 boxes have a little red tag on them with the PS3 logo, so it’s not a completely crazy choice.

Also the Greatest Hits selection of games come in a Red case as well. I am really surprised that Sony didnt embrace their Blu-Ray cases and take on the Blue color.

I think part of the reason they go with red is the controller number indicator lights on each console’s controller, 360′s “ring of light” is green, Wii’s “1, 2, 3, 4″ is blue and the PS3′s “1, 2, 3, 4″ is red so I think that’s why the PS3′s keyboard packaging is red, basically Nintendo stole the blue color, as silly as that sounds, from Sony for this generation of “team colors”. If you remember, last gen the Gamecube was synonymous with purple (at least it seemed like Nintendo pushed it as it’s main console color) and the PS2′s logo was all about the blue (and obviously Xbox has always been associated with green). The consoles being white and black seem to jump around too much for one company to use them as their “team colors”, the fact that the Wii uses white instead of blue for their packaging really annoys me though.

Also, if you go to the US Playstation site, you can see the PS3 page is pretty much red, white and black. Even though the website has changed since the PS3 launch, it’s still always been red. So, I think they did that on purpose.

The RB2 bundles/instrument packaging used the same color scheme to differentiate between PS3 and 360. Granted it wasn’t as obvious as this, on the sides of the boxes and such there was green on the 360 packaging and red on the PS3 packaging.
Really sucks that it doesn’t come with a stand
What does the packaging for that look like?

You can probably pick up a keyboard stand at any music or pawn shop for cheaper than the 25 bucks.. but then again maybe not. The ones at my pawn shop are about 25 euros… but I got my mic stand for only 15!

Did they come out and say that standard Keyboad stands will work with this?

It’s not a very technical bit of gear. it’s legs with two struts to lay your keyboard across. it’s kind of a universal thing.
For what it’s worth, Buy.com is currently selling these for $72.99 shipped (sales tax is added if you’re in CA, MA, NY, or TN).
Well it has French on it.. that’s a good sign.. right right? Not likely.. when I went to reserve it they didn’t even know the game I was talking about.. they were like “which Guitar Hero?” (always the problem here)
And when I tried to mention that I’d like to reserve the pro guitar as well when it came out they were like “they have a guitar with REAL strings?!” the only game they know that does that in France is Power Gig.. watch them try to throw that crap at me.. >.>

On American-originating products, the French language on packaging is meant for French speaking Canadians, so it can easily be sold everywhere north of the border.
Sorixas Reply:

So, is that the Canadian packaging, or the American one? I thought that American packaging had to have Spanish on it. (Me = “ignorant” Canadian.)
Antwon Reply:

Nah, American packaging doesn’t have to have Spanish on it. Many products do, but that’s for marketing reasons rather than legal ones.
So in the absence of other data, either this is (a) the Canadian packaging or (b) they’re just using one packaging for both Canada and the U.S. combined, for simplicity’s sake. (I’d blithely guess the latter myself, but whatever.)

I recall most Rock Ban hardware packaging containing English and French.
I say that because I totally recognized some of those French words in that font.

The same way everybody else does. Play Rock Band 2 if you like. If that makes you desire RB3 too much, try sleeping as much as possible. Or just have fun some other way. Time flies when you’re having fun!

eff that, use the Cartman method and have someone help you freeze yourself and unfreeze you on release day.
Is anyone else wondering who the market for this is on October 26th? Is there that many people out there on launch day going to buy the disc only and then 3 hours into playing it realize they want the keyboard and go back to the store and get it? I mean I just can’t figure out who’s dumb enough not to buy the keyboard and game bundle when the game first comes out, the keyboard isn’t compatible with anything else besides the Rock band 3 software other than using it as a MIDI instrument. I mean it’s a different situation than the drums/guitar mic bundles because some people didn’t want all of the instruments and there was a market for getting the game and instruments separately. I’m just surprised this isn’t like RB2′s launch with a month of waiting time between the bundles and the separate controllers and discs. Does anyone else share my confusion or am I alone in my insanity?

you are alone in your insanity, my good sir. they said that they were not going to do bundles other than the keyboard + game. yes, the amount of items being sold is a bit overwhelming, but they do it like that so you get exactly what you want. there will probably be a big chart in retail stores to help you decide what u want.

People who want to make a keytar only band? Considering you can use the keys to play guitar/bass as well. Why do I think that would be awesome?
so sexy, I hope they’ll sell it in Europe > Czech republic
Preordered the Keyboard Bundle yesterday
)))))))
The keyboard in this video clearly has a high and low C. The picture on the box does not have either. Seems a little odd that it would only have one C…

I’m assuming the reason you don’t see the keys your mentioning is that the “picture” on the box is actually a window. What you’re seeing is just part of the controller.

Clever HMX, I dig it, it’s all christmasy etm xD
Anyone else think it’d be brilliant if they sold it early and patched RB2 to see it as a guitar (since it can be used as one)? The advantage being RB3 becomes cheaper to own at launch and the learning curve for the keyboard is leveled a bit. I’d buy it. Well, I will either way, of course.

Actually, I think that would encourage people to play keys in GRYBO mode instead of Pro mode, which is pretty much the polar opposite of what they want.

Not sure you have a firm grasp on what they want. What they want is success and the money and power it brings. What they know is that less than 10% of Rockband players overall even play on Expert, so that makes anything related to Pro mode a gamble. Pro isn’t going to move (much) product. Casual gamers are their bread and butter. But Pro makes it look better. So yeah, they want “GRYBO” players. And they want that keyboard used as a guitar/bass, so it’ll sell, too.

While yes, a black bottom line is definitely one of the goals of the (or any) company, I argue that if they simply wanted to retain their success/money/power/women, they’d keep on their merry and continue releasing hardware revisions of their current instruments and new gameplay modes (à la Guitar Hero) instead of trotting out new instruments.
The “Expert” level statistic is irrelevant here, because like all other instruments, the Pro Keys comes in all difficulties. Thus, there is an equivalent learning curve for Pro Keys as there is for regular keys.
The other thing about the keyboard is, if they hold onto it until RB3, use of the actual keyboard comes as a completely clean slate. If you’ve never played keyboard before and they trot in a completely brand-new two octave keyboard, you’re less likely think to yourself, “brand new keyboard! Let’s only use five of the keys!” than, “brand new keyboard! Let’s take this sucker for a ride!”
If you’ve played it in RB2, however, it’d be like, “okay, I’ve played this thing in five-button before I know I can do that at least; why don’t we start with that?”
However, I concede that I have a tenuous grasp on what they want, on the condition that you concede the same–after all, neither of us work for Harmonix.

I can see that confusing the balls off of everyone.
Just release everything normally and simultaneously. The average consumer has enough information to juggle when it comes to RB products and DLC and accessories.
im curious to see the game+keys packaging.
Wonder how many batteries this sucker takes and why they don’t include a wired option anymore. As a solo non running around the room player, not blasting through batteries is welcome.
