Snoop Dogg DLC Dropping 9/7!
Waaaaaay back in February of 2009, Harmonix made an announcement that Snoop Dogg would be coming as DLC to Rock Band. Fans of Rock Band and Snoop Dogg alike were pining for any additional details on when the date may happen that DLC from one Calvin Broadus would hit the game. Nearly 19 months later with a severe dearth of Snoop Dogg DLC, it appears the day may nearly be upon us.
Special thanks to Christian who sent me a heads up that according to a banner ad allegedly appearing on MTV sister station Palladia, an 8-song DLC pack from Snoop Dogg will be arriving as DLC on 9/7. No word yet on what those songs may be, but as soon as we find out, you know where to look!
No official word yet for Harmonix, so we’ll have to keep in the rumor category until we hear otherwise, but I’m definitely psyched if this is true!
UPDATE: Microsoft’s Xbox guru, Major Nelson, confirmed this morning the existence of the 8-pack Snoop Dogg DLC… fo’ shizzle.
[Thanks Christian!]

Good to see it finally happened though.

LOL!
Good. I needed some Snoop Dog added to my playlist.
About damn time.
Ohhhh. Can’t wait for all the “but this is supposed to be ROCK band” comments on Joystiq and x360a and such.
Personally, I’ll have to see what songs they are.
The Dizzle on Rizzle Bizzle? Awesome! Looking forward to finding out the tracklist.
…like Muse!
But this is supposed to be ROCK band >:(
…:P
What does Snoop call a light rain? Drizzle!!! Yeah I’ll pass on this pack. He sucks. I’ll spend my cash on real music.

A: Dr. Dre.

what! that’s hilarious!
I’m not a huge Snoop Dogg fan, so perhaps I’m way off on this. But the songs of his I remember (his hits, for the most part) don’t have a lot in the way of guitar parts. As the guitarist in my virtual rock band, I’m worried that I won’t have anything to do.
Of course, I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up mapping a lot of the keyboard parts to the guitar. But again, with Rock Band 3 not even two months away, it’s disappointing that they didn’t wait until we could use the keyboard peripheral. I mean, it’s already been 19 months, why not wait two more?
Either way, I don’t see myself buying this pack. Just not my thing, but I certainly know some of my friends will be excited.

They are remixing the songs so make them more “rock”-y.
Didn’t ya read the “produced exclusively for Rock Band” part? They’ve done it for a lot of songs.
I can certainly say that i’m not a huge fan of Snoop Dogg, but some songs like Vato are songs that MUST be in this game, its fun to sing!! Why not??
I don’t listen to much snoop dogg but from what I’ve heard, bass and guitar are non-existant. Looks like the guys over at Harmonix are saving the best songs for the pro-mode enabled DLC.

Again, it looks like Harmonix is saving the best for pro-mode enabled DLC.
Great news for the people that are fans of his… I’m not one of those people so I’ll be saving some money that week.

Kind of sad if this is true though as it means that we likely won’t get a PAX Collection 03, which is usually my favourite pack of the year.

They’ve released more than one pack at once before.

Yes but usually during a week where there’s a large pack (more then three songs) from an artist that’s been pretty highly anticipated, that’s usually all we get.
I’m hoping there’s more in store but I’m not going to hold my breath.
Wtf?
Yo Snoop, I’m really happy for you and Imma let you finish, but MC Frontalot is the one of the best rappers of all time

I hope that was a joke. As much as I love Frontalot he doesn’t hold a candle to Snoop.
I may like this if they actually make them more rock..
(because we haven’t had anything like this before)
but if it’s just keys on guitar.. than I WILL NOT buy this…
This is pretty kickass. If it’s been 19 months since the announcement then it’s probably safe to assume that the charts will be fun, let alone the rapping
Close minded people FTL.
I will be picking this pack up the day it comes out. I enjoy lots of rap and hip hop, so I’m going to enjoy the hell out of this. As long as the songs come from his older albums, this’ll be a great pack.
I have a feeling Drop It Like It’s Hot will be one of them, though. Just because of Dance Central.
Not my thing, but glad the fans finally get this pack. I know that a lot of people have been anxious to get it.
I had the opportunity to see Snoop live during the Projekt Revolution Tour six years ago. It featured KoRn and Linkin Park as headliners. He was really excited about the tour and made several changes to appeal to the Rock crowd. Snoop brought a full band of at least 5 people. I knew maybe 2 songs but his performance was the most memorable. The music rocked, and fit together like a glove. Hopefully we’ll see some of these rock renditions in RB.
But omg there’s no instruments in Snoop music…how could it possibly work?
In an alternative universe…rappers perform live (wait, whoops, in this one too)
Snoop and full band: Gin & Juice

The next complaint will be that they’re live tracks.
Anyway, can’t wait….it’s too bad they won’t have keyboards but they probably started working on this a long time ago.
I just hope its not all talkies. That should be the main concern. Rage Against The Machine on Rock Band sucks due to that. There’s no reason why they can’t treat rapped lines as sung lines…it’s been done in countless other tracks on the regular store and RBN.
let’s hope that at least half of the dlc is from Doggystyle.
I saw the commercial today. They had a song playing but since I don’t really know many of his songs I can’t say which one.
I like Snoop Dogg and I’m excited to get some of his songs in Rockband, but only certain ones I like. Who I Am (What’s My Name?), Lodi Dodi, and Murder Was the Case would all be pretty fun to sing. Not sure how the instruments would fare though.
Like people mentioned above (going to repeat this again)
These Rock Band-Exclusive tracks.. meaning most likely remixed/reedited to fit Rock band more.
Maybe we may get a surprise guitar solo from Slash? You never know!??! lol…
Sorry have my hopes up too high >.>

probably.
Why doesn’t Snoop Dogg release a real DLC
LIKE MUSE

Muse is FAKE.
Hopefully its not “remixed” as bad as Flo-Rida was in GH… talk about a horrible song to play on guitar.
Yay, another week without any DLC for me.
Only interested if the songs aren’t hacked up for language.
Notice that the Major Nelson link says there’s 8 singles available for 160 MSP each, but nothing about a pack. Is it possible that they’re only available separately?

Good catch. I doubt that 8 songs would be released by the same artist and NOT be in a pack, but it is always a possibility for whatever reason.
