This is Not the Rock Band 3 Achievement List You’re Looking For

I’m begrudgingly posting this Rock Band 3 Achievement List posted at Xbox360Achievements.org. I’m standing by my statement that this is fake, but everyone else seems to disagree, so I’m posting it so everyone else can review (and hopefully get a few more people to back me up) for themselves. If it turns out I’m wrong, I will humbly apologize.

A few things of note: The total gamerscore is 1,250, with 250 of that coming from achievements requiring specific DLC. 1,000 is still attainable with just the on-disc songs, although some achievements require the new Mustang or Squier Pro-Guitar.

Evidence against:

  1. The “spiritual successor to the Bladder of Steel achievement” mentioned by Dan Teasdale at E3 is nowhere to be seen.
  2. An achievement specifically referencing “The Perfect Drug” DLC? Why?
  3. Kill 53,596 Hammer-ons and pull-ofs achievements? http://yfrog.com/9fk7vp (via @Sorixas)
  4. Play a downloaded Queen song? Really?
  5. No secret achievements?

Evidence for:

  1. It’s on Xbox360Achievements.org

  • dady5000 says:

I think the HOPO-cidal one is actually one FOR it, since HMX are huge Valve fans and have talked about their love for L4D in the past. That’s not one that someone could normally coincidentally make up.

Also, the time and effort to make all of those logos is quite odd for someone who would want to make a fake list.

I say MOST of these are true. With maybe a few that will get tossed before the game ships.

    Brian Reply:

I’m pretty sure it’s a Dead Rising reference, not L4D. 53,596 was the population of the town the game took place in, and it was how many zombies you needed to kill for an acievement (easily done by taking a few delivery vans into the underground tunnels).

That is a lot of effort for a fake list. But I am still doubtful.

    Brian Reply:

Sorry. I read the later comments and learned that they both reference it. My bad.

  • toymachine says:

Ok so to 1000/1000 this game you have to buy:

    1) $130-$300 guitar
    2) download Queen DLC
    3) Download The Perfect Drug
    4) Have cymbals for pro drums

I don’t buy it- and I’m sorry if this turns out to be real I’m going to smack everyone around that thought GH:WoR’s exact score achievements were “dumb”

    zigs Reply:

    To have 1250/1250*
There are DLC-specific achievements, like a lot of games have.

    Mcmax3000 Reply:

I would still call the GH6 achievements worse.

I mean, yeah, some of the achievements require additional stuff but considering how big Pro mode is to RB3 and DLC is to Rock Band in general, I don’t see anything wrong with them having achievements tied to those things.

And even if this list is fake, if you think that the final game won’t have achievements tied to Pro Guitar, you are insane.

    toymachine Reply:

You think getting 133,337 on a song is worse than

HEY GO BUY A $130 GUITAR

    Mcmax3000 Reply:

It would be like saying that the original Rock Band should’ve had only guitar and bass achievements so that people didn’t have to go out and buy the extra instruments that made up the rest of the band.

Pro mode is a big part of Rock Band 3 so of course there are going to be pro mode achievements. I see nothing wrong with that.

Should there also not be any keyboard achievements then? That will also require additional hardware.

    Xzyliac Reply:

C’mon Toymachine. You can’t really honestly tell me through these here internetz that you don’t expect a crapload of Achievements requiring Pro instruments.

Think about it, bro. It only makes sense.

DLC specfic Achievements you might have a case on. Pro instrument Achievements are gonna be a-plenty so might as well get used to the idea.

    RockBandAide Reply:

Yeah, I’m inclined to go with Xzyliac on this one. The game is all about pushing the new instruments… the achievements would probably reflect that.

  • The Witticus says:

There’s no achievements for having a 7 person band. That was the most hyped feature of E3, so I’m calling this fake or impartial.

  • PaulTMD452 says:

The art is perfect. If somebody did this on their own, they put a LOT of work into making it look authentic. I’m leaning towards real.

    The Witticus Reply:

Alot of it is art taken from the challenges. You can get the art off the website.

    RockBandAide Reply:

A lot of the art (and by a LOT I mean nearly ALL of it) is taken from Rock Band 2 stock images. The tiger is taken from the Rock Band TWO loading screen!

    gameboy673 Reply:

Actually, a lot of the art looks far from perfect. The achievements for beating 5, 12, and 20 DLC songs are obviously the frequently used DLC challenge art (also used for Downloader) with numbers on the crates. Vocals Showmanship and Vocal Virtuoso look pretty fake, and The Perfect Drug (which by itself is a pretty lousy name) is the NIN pack art with a 200 under it. Also, like Snap Wilson said below, there are a lot of Easy achievements, something HMX hasn’t really done. I’m leaning toward fake with this one. Although this would give me an excuse to buy The Perfect Drug.

  • dady5000 says:

I say, this is real or MOSTLY real. The time it would take to put those logos together and actually the HOPO-Cidal one is more of a check FOR it, since I could see HMX doing it because they are such huge Valve fans.

  • Buddha says:

Im kinda leaning towards real but you make a point with the DLC cheevs.

  • Mcmax3000 says:

I’ve never seen that site post a fake achievement list before. I’ve always been led to believe that they get their achievements from pages on Xbox.com but I could be wrong.

Plus, as much as I’d love to believe that nobody put the time & effort into making 62 fake achievement images, I’ve been on the internet way too long not to know what some people will do for a pointless hoax.

You make good points though. I was definitely surprised by some of the achievements in the list.

I’m taking a wait & see approach. I’m still leaning towards the ‘it’s real’ camp but not by much.

  • Snap Wilson says:

Totally agreed. This list seems thoroughly ridiculous. When did they start handing out points for five-starring songs on Easy? An obvious fake.

  • Alex says:

I agree that it’s fake (mainly because I ‘don’t much like’ the list), but there are a couple which would be cool to see in the real thing.

Connect your Rock Band 3 Band with rockband.com at http://www.rockband.com – hopefully they’ll do more with the website this time around (really, the RB website should be the place to go for stats, not Keldon)

Beat all of the free downloadable songs for Rock Band. – great, get people downloading

Beat 5 songs from any band that has had Dave Grohl as a member. – technically not worded properly, but the only ‘amusing’ achievement on there.

    RockBandAide Reply:

They’ve already said that there will be major interaction between the site and the game. John Drake at E3 said that you can make a playlist on the site and go home and play it.

    Myr Herder Reply:

I’m looking forward to new group photo options. Maybe now we can choose instruments in the picture? Custom backgrounds? Adjust clothing in the editor?

  • izzy2287 says:

DLC usually adds 250 gamerscore points. I added up DLC-related achievements and it’s only 180.

    izzy2287 Reply:

Oops. Nevermind. The last 12 add up to 250.

  • ramedy says:

I’m not sure what you’re getting at with #3 evidence against. The Left 4 Dead achievement was a joke referencing the Dead Rising “Zombie Genocider” achievement, which was for killing 53,594 zombies. So it might actually make sense to keep the joke going.

That being said, DLC achievements don’t sound right at all.

  • Anex says:

Totally call fake on this.. someone was really bored. That or it make be something part of the game but not achievements.

    T Reply:

So bored that they hacked Microsoft to get these hosted…because that’s the only way X360A was going to run with them.

    RockBandAide Reply:

Link please. I know I’m beating a dead horse, but that would shut everyone up. Very simple solution.

  • zigs says:

If it’s a fake, it’s an incredibly good one. I’m totally willing to believe it.

The humour in the achievements is incredibly Harmonix in style. Look at the Overdrive achievements, that seems like such a perfect HMX-style joke to me. Perfectly meta too.

I’m not sure if I like the list, some fairly bland achievements in there, but I can believe it’s legit. Though that is a valid point about the stock images, does seem to be a bunch of BotB images there.

    RockBandAide Reply:

The old Overdrive achievement was Bachman Turner Overdrive, and now they’re just doing “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet?” Seems highly unoriginal and convenient.

    zigs Reply:

Doesn’t seem unoriginal or convenient to me, seems like an extended joke. Another reference/joke on their own original joke, which seems very Harmonix.

    SebastianSB Reply:

I don’t love the list either, but I agree that it’s almost definitely real. x360a posts rumored lists all the time, but as rumors. This is posted as an official list and not once have I seen one of their lists be wrong in the years I’ve been on their site.

    RockBandAide Reply:

That’s because they take them down once they find out they’re fake…

    zigs Reply:

You said that on Twitter too mate, but I’ve never, ever seen it happen. I’ve never heard anyone else mention it either, and I know a lot of people who use the site, even some former staff. Have you got any evidence that x360a have done that before? Because I’m pretty curious about it

    RockBandAide Reply:

Of course not. That’s what happens when something is deleted. =P

    zigs Reply:

Come on mate, that’s such a cop out! It’s all well and good claiming that a site operates in a certain way like that, but without any evidence to back it up it’s purely speculative.

That would be like me saying that RBA frequently posts Guitar Hero news, but removes it before anyone reads it.

    SebastianSB Reply:

I’d say just give up, zigs. RBA’s being pretty stubborn and expects proof that’s literally impossible to achieve without HMX confirming it or the game releasing. If he wants to doubt a website with a spotless history based on an assumption that he made and has absolutely no evidence whatsoever to support it then let him.

    RockBandAide Reply:

I think I’ve presented my evidence pretty clearly (the post above). I’m still waiting for someone to provide a link that supports the validity of the list.

    SebastianSB Reply:

No, you’ve provided absolutely no evidence against the list. You’ve only listed a bunch of things you don’t like.

Side note, how did you reply to me? Nothing below zigs’s twitter message has a reply button for me.

    RockBandAide Reply:

It’s my site. I can reply wherever I like! ;)

The post, and subsequent comments, are filled with reasons why this list looks fake. The case AGAINST rests, your honor.

    T Reply:

C’mon, that is such a copout arguement.

I accuse you of deleting articles including insulting and libelous comments aimed at John Drake and Dan Teasedale. Prove that you have not deleted these articles from your site.

    RockBandAide Reply:

    …an argument nonetheless.

And don’t throw accusations like that around. You won’t like the results.

  • Andy says:

I voted fake simply because I want a harder list. Not enough expert achievements IMO. Also, not one for completing the Endless Setlist on expert?!

  • dady5000 says:

Where’s the “Some Fake Some Real” option?

  • SebastianSB says:

Why are people bothered by the Ho/Po achievement? It’s a long-time running joke that has been in Dead Rising, Left 4 Dead, Prototype, and possibly others. I’m not surprised that HMX and their lean towards humor would want to jump in on it.

  • Xzyliac says:

Yeah I’m on the fence. However I don’t think it’s a stretch to believe they’d throw DLC Achievements in. I think they’ve been successful enoough in their DLC that they could toss in a few and be confident that people will buy it.

It might hint at certain packs (the Queen Pack and one if not both of the Nine Inch Nails Packs respectively) getting upgraded.

Actually I kinda like the idea of DLC Achievements. I could see HMX tossing some inside joke Achievements like the Dave Grohl thing. However I could see them doing it as a joke Achievement.

All that said there’s no Bladder of Steel so I’m leaning towards fake.

  • ramedy says:

Could it be possible that SOME of the achievements are real, while some are fake? I wonder if maybe someone got an incomplete leaked list, and tried to fill it in so it would look real. Just a thought, since some of these do sound perfectly legit.

  • Sorixas says:

Everyone is saying “There’s no Bladder of Steel successor”. What if Harmonix just cut it from the system’s achievements list, and it’s actually part of the achievements list in the Career?

    SebastianSB Reply:

I pretty much figured the same.

    RockBandAide Reply:

    Definitely possible.

  • Explosion2 says:

If harmonix was jumping in on the “genocidal achievement” joke, then they would have made it 53,597 as Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, and Prototype all increased the number by one after each other.

    ramedy Reply:

Totally forgot about Prototype, and I even played that game. Good call.

    LoopyChew Reply:

They could’ve forgotten about it, too.

    Tinykoko Reply:

    O_O

    good point my friend.

  • Xenigma says:

Normally I trust the achievement lists on xbox360achievements.org, and many of these sound very plausible. Dave Grohl Band, in particular, sounds totally legit as a DLC achievement given how he’s become such an inside joke among the RB community. However, I’m bugged by the lack of the “Bladder of Steel” follow-up, and that Perfect Drug achievement better be fake, because it’s all sorts of awful. I’m calling fake, at least partially.

  • Masem says:

I’m calling fake too. I don’t believe it possible at all within RB, unless there’s something like “Through the Grapevine” or “Super Bowl S-Mashup”, to score 12 million points even with a full band. 1 million’s not hard, and I can easily see 4-piece bands with 2M on these longer songs, but unless they’ve got a long song on disc and changes the scoring methods, that’s just impossible.

    SebastianSB Reply:

    I think it’s fairly obvious that’s a career score

  • Plutarch says:

I expected the pro-mode achievements…but the DLC ones are the ones that make me call bullshit on this. The Perfect Drug one is totally random, it doesn’t even have a catchy name!

And also, why are so many focused on Hard mode instead of Expert? That’s just odd.

  • Tinykoko says:

I’m going to go with fake if only for the weird song achievements (Queen / Boston / NIN). I can understand the Bohemian Rhapsody one.

    Also.. it’s ugly

    SaikoSakura Reply:

    Your face is ugly. <3

Btw, I totally read “Total Debauchery” as "Total Doucebaggery."

    RockBandAide Reply:

    I did the same thing!

  • comp says:

I’m fairly certain that it’s real, on instinct alone. We’ll see, I suppose.

  • Emerson says:

It does seem like a strange list, but X360A doesn’t just publish any set of achievements. The icons must come straight off the Xbox server or else they won’t publish them.

  • Rob says:

The “Perfect Drug” one is a big red flag. Wasn’t that DLC around before Rock Band 2 was released? I find it very hard to believe that this game would have an achievement for DLC that was released years ago.

  • HillHammer says:

Actually this seems to indicate to me that maybe Harmonix have gone back and updated “some” Legacy DLC. Lets face if there were 2 bands crying out for Keys that we have DLC for it would be Boston and Queen.

    Crunk Posby Reply:

This is what I was going to say. I think this hints that The Perfect Drug, The Queen Pack and the Boston Pack are all going to be updated for Rock Band 3 upon its release.

  • Britten says:

FAKE. you know why? NEEDS MOAR MUSE!

  • Schlagwerk says:

Why are there achievements worth 4 and 6 Gamerscore?

    Sorixas Reply:

Because those are things that you have to do, except for the “Connect your band to rockband.com”.

    Schlagwerk Reply:

I meant as opposed to denominations of 5 as all the others are.

  • Whizzer says:

Can’t imagine this is real. 1250 points, DLC achievements, strange names, barely any Expert achievements and all the rest. I’d be very surprised and disappointed if Harmonix would turn this sloppy on this aspect of the game.

  • River 0tter says:

The last 12 acheivements are all based on specific songs or band dlc, and adds up to 250 gamerscore. It’s kind of like other games then….

  • libregkd says:

Saying its real until I get proof otherwise. They got their list directly from xbox.com. So unless someone hacked into xbox.com to upload these achievements then this is the legit list.

    RockBandAide Reply:

Where’s YOUR proof that they got it from Xbox.com? You can’t have proof that it’s real without proof. That’s what proof is. Proof!

    libregkd Reply:

The fact that their submission guidelines specifically state that any info needs to come from xbox.com’s servers, they’ve never posted a fake list because of that requirement. If its been creditable for the last few years, I hardly see any reason to doubt them now. Besides this isn’t the first time achievements have been leaked for Rock Band, we knew about the achievement list for the Metal Track pack before it was even officially confirmed!

I actaully find it rather hilarious that the RB community is so divided on this. Hell; this is the first time I’ve ever seen people suspicious of an Achievement list. Either way; we’ll soon find out its true soon enough.

    zigs Reply:

Here’s a quote from the Submission guidelines on x360a (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58152)

“3. New Achievement Lists that are all text will be denied. New lists that are stolen from other sites will be denied. If you have found an achievement list, you MUST give us the xbox.com link for the list OR a link to someone’s profile who has played the game where the list is ACTIVE. To add a game to the site, we must be able to view the achievement list via an xbox.com link. That is how we import the achievements and that is the only way you will receive credit of any kind. The process is automated and only triggered by an xbox.com link, so submitting anything else is useless and will not get you credit.”

  • Francesco Poli says:

It’s 100% real. Some cheevos ARE weird (why The Perfect Drug???), but if it’s n x36a.org, it’s verified.

    comp Reply:

Precisely why I believe it. To my knowledge, x36achievements has NEVER been wrong about ANY achievement list leak.

The achievements are usually gathered directly from the Xbox servers as far as I know–right from someone who has it linked to their profile.

    RockBandAide Reply:

It’s NOT verified yet! I challenge ANYONE to bring me evidence that this list is from a legit source, or that it is direct from Xbox! I keep saying that and people just say “Doesn’t matter, it’s true.” Bring evidence and I’ll shut up!

I understand what you’re asking 100 percent, RBA.
    Apparently nobody else does.

The x360a forum clearly states that the list has to come directly from xbox.com servers; therefore, the achievement list should be readily visible on xbox.com. Guess what? It ain’t. So who posted this to x360a, and where did they get it from? Cuz it sure ain’t on xbox.com…..like you, I challenge ANYONE to find that list on xbox.com.

    SebastianSB Reply:

Because we don’t know the link. We would obviously post it if we did.

    zigs Reply:

There’s so much ignorance in these comments about both Xbox.com and x360a it’s infuriating. Why are you guys so abhorrent to the notion that those of us who are huge achievement fans and have a much greater understanding of x360a and how it works? That our lengthy experience with the site means that we know what we’re talking about? I’ve been using x360a since mid-2007, and I think Seb’s been on there longer than that. Achievement lists is their greatest forte, and like we’ve said countless times, they import their data directly from Xbox.com

The reason we don’t have an Xbox.com link for it is because it’s not easy to come by. Microsoft intentionally make them hard to find (and impossible to google) to try keep them hidden as long as possible but if one person has the game on their gamercard, then the achievement list is visible – but only if you know who that person is and can see his/her list. x360a do not share those links, just isn’t the way they operate.

For example, because RBA has RB2 on his list, I can log into Xbox.com and view that game’s list: http://live.xbox.com/en-GB/profile/Achievements/ViewAchievementDetails.aspx?tid=%09%5d%3adh)k%3f%7ex&compareTo=RockBandAide

That part of the link that says “%09]%3adh)k%3f~x” is the unique Xbox.com id tag for the RB2 achievement list. It’s pretty much a meaningless sequences of characters, but unique enough. Every single game has a unique id like that, but they’re not exactly easy to find. TB:RB’s is “%09]%3adh)k%3f~x”, LRB’s is “%09]%3bgk%2bi3” AC/DC RB’s is “%09%5d%3adh)k%3fpv” and so on. Trust me, I’ve tried endlessly to find patterns amongst them and to see if you can just guess an achievement list, but you can’t

Like I said, only if you have found someone with the game on their card – which is what x360a do. It’s what they’ve always done for the entirety of their existence as a website.

I’d love to be able to provide the Xbox.com link, but I can’t. But I don’t see why you’re just flatout refusing to believe people who know more than you about the specific subject.

I see too many conflicting tenses (Do vs. Did). Don’t achievements usually say “do this” (future tense) when the achievement is locked, then “did this” (past tense) after it’s unlocked? I could see this kind of inconsistancy in a fake list of an early draft. A published list from xbox.com should be consistant.

Also, is a “Mile High Club” reference appropriate?

    Quina Reply:

The person they got the achievements from could have unlocked some of them. You can change the description of an achievement after it unlocks.

Fake. I’ve never seen any disc based game (Not arcade) have the gamerpoints awarded not be a multiple of 5. The 4 and 6 point achievements make no sense.

Pretty damn sure there is an achievement in Rock Band 2 called Flawless Fretwork. Google disagrees though, therefore RB2 obviously has no achievement called that.

    RockBandAide Reply:

If the achievement list was “google-able,” we definitely would have had it by now.

    SebastianSB Reply:

lol you’re the one who claimed google was evidence, RBA

    RockBandAide Reply:

I was using Google as a tool to find the Xbox.com link for the Rock Band 3 achievements, not that it was evidence.

    TheCrow924 Reply:

I stand corrected. However, RB2 is littered with achievements surrounding online play. Battle of the bands, tug of war and so forth. Not a one to found here. I still stand by fake. Besides, are we seriously to believe the icon for connection to rockband.com is a power cord? This kind of silliness are what contributes to my doubts. Not to mention it seems like almost half of them are for doing mundane things, like calibration or downloading a song.

Additionally, the first two didn’t have any achievements tied to specific songs. Nor were there achievements tied to things you didn’t actually need the game to do. I’ve already downloaded a Queen song and gotten a 200 pt streak on Perfect Drug. Do those immediately get awarded upon starting RB3 for the first time?

    SebastianSB Reply:

Past trends are hardly evidence. God forbid they don’t just copy/paste the same list into every game like they practically did with RB1/2.

The track packs, the lego game, and both band games have all had achievements for specific songs. That’s EVERY Rock Band game except 1 and 2.

  • Antwon says:

I remember waaaay back when, some HMX developer doing a straw poll on ScoreHero, asking about how people felt about achievements with values that weren’t evenly divisible by five. Specifically referring to only a pair of achievements, neither of which were tough to get, and that semi-naturally went together. First thing I thought of when I saw the 4 and 6 pointers here. Not that that’s more than thin circumstantial evidence, but it’s yet another tick mark for the “real” side.

It is, admittedly, kind of a weird list. And there’s what, almost 200 gamerscore tied up in Pro Keys and Pro Guitar alone? Yeah, gonna be some serious bitching from achievement completionists about that.

    RockBandAide Reply:

Your first paragraph is a great point, and people have been bringing that up. My hardline theory on this list being 100% real or fake is softening… more theories soon.

And people need to stop bitching about ~200 gamerscore accounted for via Keys/Pro-Guitar. Everyone know’s the game has a large emphasis on NEW peripherals… why would you NOT expect achievements to reflect that?

Also, if you don’t get a perfect gamerscore, what happens? It’s not the end of the world… it’s a video game, people. I admire your dedication to 100% completion, but video games may not be the area of life to enforce such steadfastness.

    T Reply:

I don’t understand the griping about Pro Keys achievements. Guitar is a little more understandable as people already have guitars…but we KNEW there were going to be keys achievements (just like we had drum, vox, and bass achievements in the first title).

If you want to play keys, you’re going to buy the bundle. And there’s your pro keys achievements there!

  • IvoryDoll says:

I think that this is partially real.

The DLC achievements are actually very smart, gain more profit by tying an achievement to DLC. I know that I would probably fork out the MS points for some extra achievements. Think about how many people buy game expansions with additional achievements…People LOVE achievements. Plus new instruments and game modes of course they will tie achievements to those.

  • Foxkiller says:

almost if not all the bass achievements have guitar icons ¬¬*

    zigs Reply:

But as they’re not releasing a pro bass peripheral, that kinda makes sense. Could be misleading if not.

  • argyle says:

I think this could be real but I’m hoping it’s not, save for a few of them. There are a lot of very lame achievments in this list.

No 100% on drums or expert vocals? I mean, are they really going so stupidly casual that they’re now giving achievements for playing on easy? Sadly, I could actually see this being true. Seems to me HMX has gotten the completely backwards notion that reducing competitive incentive creates motivation to play more often.

  • T says:

The arguments for really downplays the significance of the source. X360A.org is a widely successful and long-running achievement site that has built up a level of credibility such that they have worked with Microsoft in the past to help identify and eliminate Achievement cheaters/modders.

Not only that, but X360A.com also requires that all submitted achievements be confirmed using the permanent Xbox.com URLs that include the game page and achievement icons.

So really, you are arguing one of two things:

    1) X360A.com is lying. Even after establishing a 3-4 track record of accurate and verified achievement lists. And all to troll the RB community.

    OR

    2) Somebody hacked the MS servers for the sole purpose of creating a fake list of RB3 achievements. And that the hack has remained unrecognized on MS’s servers after almost a full day of the achievements being posted.

The RB community right now is emabarassing themselves. Especially when this is the same community that will take a mouse fart on a radio station as a sign that Band X is coming to the platform.

    Antwon Reply:

Having mulled things over today, I agree that x360a being the source of this information gives it massively more credence than it would if it’d come from some other source. I mean, it’s not like this list was culled from Wikipedia or Johnny Douchebag’s Gaming Blog or something. Given’s x360a’s standards and policies regarding posting such achievements lists and their generally spot-on track record, they’re a source with a lot of weight; it’d take some serious convincing to suggest that there was some sort of absolute systemic failure there, intentional or otherwise.

    RockBandAide Reply:

I’m just asking for an official source (i.e. a link to Xbox.com… the same link that Xbox360achievements.org requires as validation). I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

    Antwon Reply:

Eh, it’s a request in the same ballpark as demanding that a polling firm release their raw untabulated data or that an investment bank spell out the details of their fund-management algorithms. There’s no real incentive for Xbox360achievements.org to provide that information. I mean, the upside for them involves proving yourself to folks who are already predisposed to doubt you… and the downside is providing choice “inside baseball” information, making it that much more likely that someone could mine xbox.com for achievement info or otherwise try to scoop you in the future. There’s just not much it in for them there, y’know?

I mean, you’re free to ask. And if someone actually provides proof concrete enough for your standards, hey, awesome! I’d just be borderline-shocked if somebody actually complied with that request.

After using RockBandAide for a long while now, I know I can trust your posts. You’ve never steered me wrong, and I know because of my experience with the site that I can trust your content’s validity.

I’d say the exact same about x360a’s achievement lists, and I’ve been using them for twice, maybe three times, as long. x360a is a reliable source for achievement lists.

    T Reply:

Your proof that the Xbox.com link exists is that X360A.com is using it to post the achievements. They use an automated tool to scrape the website to pull down the URLs for their own usage. The ONLY way, and I do mean ONLY way they could be faked out is if somebody hacked Microsoft’s servers and hosted fake information up there.

And if you don’t believe that MS was hacked, the only OTHER way it could be fake is if X360A.com is lying. And again, if you are accusing them of lying you are basically accusing them of throwing away 3-4 year track record of completely accurate achievement reporting for one game. That’s a pretty serious claim to be making when you have nothing to go on other than “This achievement list isn’t very good.”

If someone else has made this point, I apologize. About the “spritual successor to Bladder of Steel,” we still have no idea what the road challenges will include. I do think I remember reading where one of them might be about 3 hours long, so that could be it right there.

  • Mo says:

I disagree with considering this list is fake based on the DLC requirements. Why should we discredit the list based on the achievements requiring specific songs? Any other game requires specific DLC for specific additional achievements, so why should Rock Band 3 be different because the DLC selection is larger? Personally, I’d much rather have the specific achievements than 12 “Play x DLC songs” achievements, especially since the former would ultimately cost less. And at least the specific songs required are more popular songs and are generally considered good. They could be requiring us to buy Naked Brothers Band DLC. Surely no one wants that.

Besides, the DLC achievements are extra. They aren’t going to stop you from getting the standard 1000/1000. (The $150+ investment for a Pro Guitar might, but that’s not the point.)

If you want to debate the legitimacy of the list based on other criteria. by all means go for it. But as far as I’m concerned, to use the DLC requirements as proof against it is nothing more the grasping at straws.

  • Nick says:

I am hoping this is fake because this is a very unsatisfying achievement list. This is a must buy game for me but so far I really don’t care for the set list or the achievement list. I hope that this is fake and that they add better songs to the on disc set list. I don’t want to buy the game just to download the DLC. I don’t even like the DLC achievements for this because to be honest, I’m not a real big Nine Inch Nails fan. Having DLC achievements in Rock Band is a bad idea. It’s will just turn into a competition for big bands to try to force their music on you and make you feel compelled to buy their songs just so you can get some extra gamerscore. It really seems like favoritism coming from Harmonix.

  • Schnell says:

“Having DLC achievements in Rock Band is a bad idea.”
At E3, Harmonix were toting upwards of 2000 DLC songs by years end; why wouldn’t they include some sort of achievement tied to downloadable songs? It is fair to assume that people who play Rock Band/2/3/whatever else will splash out on a few tunes, and so I don’t believe there to be any logical evidence against this move.

As for people who don’t think there is a spiritual successor to the “Bladder of Steel” achievement, did it ever cross your minds that the “The Endless Setlist III” achievement could be what Harmonix were hinting at?
