Official Sounding Rock Band 3 Description Has New Vague Details
Hailing from our friends in the UK, specifically retailer Zavvi.com comes a few vague items about features expected in Rock Band 3. Of particular note are the following items:
- Newer release date of September 24, 2010
- “Support for existing Rock Band tracks (previous Rock Band discs…” While not confirming Rock Band 2 export, it further supports what I’m calling an inevitability
- “8 distinctive gameplay modes…” EIGHT?! Sounds like this is DS specific (see below).
- “100+ unique clothing pieces…” Sounds like this is also DS specific (see below).
See the entire product description below.
Release Date: 24 September 2010

Hopefully now when my band has 4,000,000 fans I’ll make more than $120 per concert.
September 24th…isn’t that the supposed release date of the Pearl Jam project?

I mean, the 24th makes a little more sense, since I wouldn’t think Harmonix would release two of their biggest games in back-to-back weeks, but still, it’s very odd that this date comes up after several places have October 31st listed

Rock Band Pearl Jame was just the code name for the RB3 Release..
Okay one can hope.

Jame…nice…. stupid non spell check fast typing…
And hopefully I can exceed a billion fans.
LEGIT.
Actually I’m going to speculate for a bit
It’s entirely possible that the 360 is getting another limited exclusivity, like with RB2. It would make sense, since releasing RB3 and Dance Central for the 360 within a week of each other would be a little silly from a financial standpoint
On the flip side, however, if the reports that RB3 DLC not being compatible with RB2 are true, that poses a problem. Either;
A) RB3 DLC begins in September with keyboards, harmonies, and pro guitars, and Wii and PS3 are pretty much DLC-less for a month, or;
B) RB3 is released but RB3 DLC does not appear for another month, leaving a few more weeks of DLC without harmonies, keys, and pro mode
Option B could make sense – after all, there’s a month to play with 83 new songs with all the new modes, so that’s enough to be preoccupied by. Just a couple thoughts that ran through my mind is all

I thought Dan Teasdale said that RB3 DLC would release the same day as the release of the game, though.

It makes no sense that the 360 would get exclusivity, given the official press release:
“Rock Band 3 will ship simultaneously worldwide this Holiday 2010 in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other territories for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the Wii™ system from Nintendo, and Nintendo DS™”
They better not anyway, because that will cause a gigantic shitfit on the forums, and I will be participating.

We can organize a plan now. Just in case.

i think harmonix made a big mistake with xboxs prerelease date. ps3 makes very high sales too and after seeing posts harmonix intends to balance the dates accordingly. its great to hear that sony loves its consumers, but microsoft on the other hand… i mean no one plays rb2 on xbox anymore
Sept. 24…..2 days before my b-day.
SCORE!!!
I really hope it’s not a Sept 24th release date. I mean I’m super pumped for RB3 but the release date for GH6 is September 28th and I don’t want to pick between the two

If it is, that’s exactly why they’re doing it. Do you think it was coincidence that GH5 came out less than a week before The Beatles: Rock Band? That’s how the game is played.

Just a quick note, incase you was unaware, in the UK nearly all games come out on a friday, whereas it seems most games in the US come out on a Tuesday. Sept 24th is a Friday, its an american based company so here in the UK we get it 3 days later (which happens countless times for other games and is still considered simultaneous I presume because its the same week) which would make it Sept 21st for US.
Rarely we get games the same day, for MASSIVE titles that then follow the US tuesday release date scheme.
PS If I remember correctly Both Beatles RB and RB2 came out on xbox 360 in Sept the previous two years. GH always tries to snaffle the sales by aggressive release dates close to RB and here in the UK nearly all the shops seem to favor GH, they have lots of banners and ads and when I tried to buy RB2 on the release day, most shops didn’t even have it on day 1, there was no advertising in the windows or banners, posters, tv screens, unlike GH World tour.
God I hope the new date is true. I was really hoping for a November date like with RB2 and TB:RB. One less month to wait!

September**** fail typo
Your eight distinctive gameplay modes and 100+ pieces of clothing are for the Nintendo DS version specifically here, by the way.
Does anyone else see the “hiding songs” function as a setback? I mean, how many people online will hide most of the disc songs except a few that they like? If five people can play together online, it just seems that the odds of even having disc songs in common will greatly diminish.

The “hiding” of songs isn’t what it sounds like. It’s more rating them lower so you can avoid them, but they won’t be unplayable or just straight up never appear anywhere in the game. For example, if you don’t set the filter to avoid songs you’ve rated as “1″ and then go pick “All Rock Band 3″ songs, all of those songs will still show up as they always have.
Other than the release date, there is nothing new.
“8 distinctive gameplay modes…” EIGHT?!
“100+ unique clothing pieces…”
Are for the Nintendo DS, not the main game.

That’s what I thought when it said NDS, but it was still new to me. I may have missed this news elsewhere. I’ll edit the post so this is more clear.
The PS3 and Wii listings on that website also say September 24th release, so that should end the xbox 360 exclusivity debate.

I would love to see it released in September, but with all the new instruments and simultaneous worldwide release, I’m skeptical that it will happen. I do however think that it would help sales to beat Guitar Hero and not be so close to the release of the expensive Kinect.
I want the last three years of my life back so I can save up for stuff like this next time!
…And now the date (on all 3 platforms) has been changed to October 29.
