ION Drum Rocker Pro Premium Drumset Announced

This is the old set... ION hasn't released an image of the new one yet.

ION announced yesterday that everyone’s favorite premium Rock Band drumset is getting an upgrade, and will officially be Rock Band 3 Pro-compatible. Now dubbed the ION Drum Rocker Pro Official Premium Drum Set, the Drum Rocker Pro will be available for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii.

The biggest change from the existing Drum Rock is that the Drum Rock Pro adds the Drum Rocker Pro Pedal, a professional-grade electronic kick drum pedal.  The Pro Pedal has a steel base plate, all-metal construction, dual-chain drive, adjustable beater, rubber trigger assembly, and adjustable spring assembly. The Drum Rocker Pro Pedal is included with Drum Rocker Pro, it is also available separately for existing Drum Rocker, Drum Rocker Core, and Rock Band drum set owners.

The Drum Rocker Pro also includes everything the original Drum Rocker included: four drum and three cymbal pads and a fully configurable metal drum rack. The drum and cymbal pads are the same super-quiet, highly responsive pads from the original.

The Drum Rocker Pro will be available Holiday 2010, coinciding with the release of Rock Band 3. Pricing has not yet been announced.

It sounds amazing! Now, if I can just get ION to send me one, I would love to test it out for the site! ;)

    Wow. Just WOW.

  • Travis says:

    MUST. SAVE. MONEY.

Oh my god. I’m already broke, but I’m going to have literally no money after the release of Rock Band 3.

  • Pez says:

I wonder what the cost of this bad boy will be

  • bear89103 says:

Hmmm, I have to read the press release, because the picture shows a high hat pedal but there’s no mention of it.

  • Matt W. says:

Is that the real picture? Does that mean it’ll also include one of the cheap-o pedals to use for double-pedal or hi-hat?

  • Doom878 says:

So will it support double bass/hi hat pedal?

  • As a heel RB drum pedal player, it’d be nice to see a reversible “anchor” for the pedals…

  • RedIon1992 says:

Dammit Harmonix and related companies, stop making me earmark all my money for you guys! I’m already broke from the Squier and the keyboard, plus an upgreaded guitar for the bass player…

  • Other says:

Is it the same brain? The current one has one input for pedals, so a second pedal will need a connection box to turn it to a second bass pedal. A high-hat pedal will need an upgraded brain.

I’m wondering if it would be better to use a drum brain and the new MIDI pro-adapter.

Is the pedal triggering similar to the Omega pedal or is there a trigger pad? If it is like the Omega, does it double-hit as much as the Omega does?

Will upgrade kits be available in stores or just the main kit?

    • RockBandAide says:

All I know is what is in the press release, unfortunately. Bobby from New England Music Supply contacted ION today to try and get answers to these and other questions, but they don’t have any further specifics yet.

  • Matt says:

Soooooo is it simultaneous release for the Wii? I’ve been waiting for the Ion to come out for the Wii, maybe this is why they were waiting.

  • Chucklestyle says:

The only thing I would take with a grain of salt is the “super quiet” bit. My Ions are louuuuuud. Easily as loud (or louder) than my Beatles kit.

  • zigs says:

I’ve had the ION kit for well over a year now, and the pedal is the one piece that I’ve never, ever had any trouble with. I’m a little disheartened to hear that that’s the main thing they’re changing, because firstly there’s nothing wrong with it all (in my experience at least!) but secondly, I think it’s the cymbals that need improvement. It’s great to hear that the Pro Kit will include all three, but they really can’t take a beating very well at all.

    • Oathbreaker says:

Yeah I didn’t think the existing Drum Rocker came with three cymbals, it looks like only two on the website and the Core comes with none.

So cool it comes with three now, but not sure how factual that one line is in your blog. “includes everything the original Drum Rocker included: four drum and three cymbal pads”

Still I officially shelve my attempts in the last two days to buy the Drum Rocker kit… >.>

  • Zaphod42 says:

I know, I know, the GH series is not too popular here, but I have a few games and am therefore interested, so what do you think? Will the ION Drum Rocker Pro Premium work with those games? There are certainly enough pads and cymbals…

(I’m eager to substitute my Word Tour Drum Kit and hope to find one set that works both for RB3 (Pro) and GH.)
