Rock Band Network Preview Channel Now Live
I’m pleased to announce a new tool hosted here on RockBandAide that will help promote the songs coming to the Rock Band Network. RBN superstar Mithin had a great idea that in order to both limit the influx of prematurely leaked YouTube RBN videos, as well as create a central location for all authorized RBN videos, an account on YouTube has been created for RBN authors and artists to advertise and promote their tracks.
Using a tool designed and hosted on RockBandAide.com, RBN authors can submit their authoring files for conversion and upload onto YouTube in an efficient and consistent manner. The YouTube channel RBNPreview is a quality controlled channel with RBN songs shown in full 720p HD with uniform detailed descriptions including the price, artist, title, label (if any), author, myspace page, websites, trial download link, full download link, and anything other relevant information.
Harmonix has given their tentative blessing on a user-supported YouTube channel, provided it is not affiliated with Harmonix, MTV Games, and Viacom. Going forward, with RBN announcements, I will try to include embedded videos of songs by authors/artists that have given their approval for submission on to RBNPreview.
If you are an RBN author, please contact me and I can provide you with the details for submitting your tracks so they may be featured on the RBNPreview channel.
Congratulations to Mithin for setting this up and allowing me to help out!
Head on over to YouTube to check out the RBNPreview channel. Below is an example of the quality of RBN songs featured.

Sounds like a great idea, but one thing did occur to me.
You said: “Harmonix has given their tentative blessing on a user-supported YouTube channel”
Does that mean that there is no chance of youtube taken the channel or the videos down for “copyright claims?”

I don’t think there’s any guarantee, but this should reduce the risk of occurrence.
authors will still need to have full rights to post a video of a song. With the case of RBN, many of the authors are actually the artists themselves
Authoring groups on the other hand will have to make sure they have clearance with any label/band they are working with.
This is AWESOME! Thanks for putting this together, huge help for deciding what RBN tracks to get.
(and it’s it a little .. crazy .. that Harmonix doesn’t have something like this already? Well, no matter, thanks to YOU AWESOME DUDES now we do!)
I’m really curious. How does the whole thing work? Is there really some automated system to handle it or is it just someone you have recording them as the authors give permission?
umm I just tried the link and it said video could not be found.

some videos I had up there were only for testing purposes and not meant to be public. I removed them to not cause a problem in the future.
Right now its just me recording videos as I get the files, details, and permission from authors! Its manageable for now, if it gets to be too much of a workload we’ll deal with that in the future
Awesome, I hope it all works out
