More Details On “Rock Band, Live”
If you haven’t heard about “Rock Band, Live” coming to an amusement park near you this summer, a many more details have come out about it, including characters, venue, and setlist… all below!
The image header above reveals some of the characters and parts of the storyline for the musical “concert-like” show. During the 30-minute show, eight singers play Rock Band in front of a massive backdrop of speakers.
The backstage crew, including a manager, roadie, spiritual guru, merchandise girl, groupie and even a “Mom” character, also play roles in the show. The show’s storyline (SPOILER WARNING) follows the trials and travails of a glam band, its tour manager and an eclectic backstage crew. Almost immediately, the band fires its tour manager, who breaks down the theatrical fourth wall and starts his own band with members of the audience. Naturally, a battle ensues between the stage band and the audience band, resulting in a series of video game showdowns. Meanwhile, a secondary love story develops between the band’s bass player and the merchandise girl. Eventually the rival bands decide to put aside their differences and form one band.
Prior to each 30-minute performance, theme park visitors will compete on Rock Band drums and guitar/bass instruments, with the top scorer climbing on stage to jam with the singers for the final song of each set. Audience members selected to jam on stage make a quick costume change before joining the band during the final song of the set.
Non-touring versions of the show will play throughout the summer at Cedar Point in Ohio from June 5 to Aug. 22, and Canada’s Wonderland near Toronto from May 29 to Sept. 6.
A touring version of the show will make stops at Dorney Park in Pennsylvania (May 28-31), Kings Island in Ohio (June 3-13), Valleyfair in Minnesota (June 17-27), Carowinds in North Carolina (July 2-11), Worlds of Fun in Missouri (July 15-18), California’s Great America in Santa Clara (July 23–Aug. 1), Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park (Aug. 5-15) and Kings Dominion in Virginia (Aug. 20-29).

Looks like I know when I’m hitting Kings Island this summer
Ooh, Carowinds in NC. I’ve been meaning to go back there for a few years.
I’d go to Dorney Park but I’ve already made commitments for Memorial Day weekend. Bummer.
This sounds like an excellent excuse to go to King’s Dominion!
could be a better setlist- woo Canada’s Wonderland
OMG Awesome! Europe gets totally screwed on all this fun stuff.
Just was at Dorney yesterday. There are signs ALL over the park promoting this… crazy!
Lots of signs at Cedar Point too (yesterday was its opening day, and I was there). Really hope I get back to Cedar Point later in the summer…
Wonder why Wonderland got it all summer. Ah well, not complaining. Rock Band Live, here I come! =D
Finally, FINALLY, Worlds of Fun has some use to me. The songs are easy, but oh well.
