Revisiting the Original ‘Pearl Jam Live’ Rumor

If you haven’t heard, but in the last 24 hours, there have been two rumors pop up on foreign retail sites about a new Rock Band title focusing around Pearl Jam coming out in September. While this had been announced as a thing quite a long time ago, I thought a refresher might be in order, along with a bank of songs that may be featured in the game.

While Harmonix never made an official announcement about the title, they did promote the project about a year ago. In fact, Pearl Jam’s official site solicited fans to vote for live tracks that they would like to be featured in the game.

The bank of 43 songs from which Pearl Jam allowed fans to choose from are included after the break, along with a nice long playlist of all the tracks for you to listen to today.

This needs to happen! I just hope it’s better than AC/DC Rock Band. Not that AC/DC was a bad game, it just didn’t have many songs or achievements.

    non_zero Reply:

AC/DC wasn’t really a game. If you look at it as a game then objectively it was pretty bad.

…because what we need is a third copy of alive…

I doubt (and hope) they wouldn’t include the live version of “Alive” on the new project. In theory, it would be treated similar to the Green Day DLC, such that it is importable into the Pearl Jam title. All speculation at this point, but these seem like pretty safe bets.

My guess is that this will be something similar to the AC/DC Track Pack, although with a slightly higher production value. I wouldn’t probably put this on par with Beatles (or even Green Day), but we’ll see…

I recall that there was a vote conducted over on pj’s website… Was there ever any word on which songs received the most?

  • RBGHfam says:

If this all comes to fruition, I would hope the songs below would make the list, and that they mixed live versions with studio tracks. NOT all live, please!

    Glorified G
    Daughter
    Yellow Ledbetter
Last Kiss (I know its a remake)
    In my Tree
    Off He Goes

Pearl Jam Rock Band is a title that doesn’t actually grab my attention… perhaps it could be a nice opportunity to get to know the band better, but I was never that big of an enthusiast of Pearl Jam.

I downloaded “Black” because my brother asked me to, but to tell you the truth, that song bores me to tears. The live version of “State of Love and Trust” was a very pleasant surprise for me, though. So maybe there’s hope…
