Gee I wounder how this poll is going to end up? At least 50% Pfft… Green Day? No thanks! Cause all the haters will come out just to vote that HMX should of not gone with Green Day.

Because someone is not a fan of a band and doesn’t want to spend money on the game they are automatically a hater?

It’s come to my attention that the more a band is complained about the more it sells. This is why Green Day, Evanescence, Gorillaz, Blink 182, and Maroon 5 were some of the highest selling packs for Rock Band last year.

I’m excited for this game as a Drummer or Voxtarist, plus I love Green Day, but I am massively disappointed that it will be censored.

    RockBandAide Reply:

I never get why censoring is an issue with people. If you are singing the vocals, you obviously know what the word is that’s taken out. I’m not trying to be a troll, I guess I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

I think the thing with it is that the cursing is part of “stickin’ it to the man”.
When it’s censored, “the man” has taken control of the “rebellion” and made it “appropriate”.

    at least, that’s my opinion.

Green Day is one of the few bands that curse regularly that I listen to, and that’s part of what makes them (especially in their earlier years) great to me.

My only real problem with censoring is that it sounds really off having the vocals just cut out mid-sentence but aside from a couple of songs that I would love to play that would be absolutely butchered by censoring, it’s not really a big deal to me.

Maybe not everyone will be on the “hating Harmonix becuz of Green Day!!1″, but maybe they just don’t find Green Day any good.

As for me, I’ll probably end up buying it, but only out of respect for Harmonix. I’m really not hot on 47 songs by a band that seems to have more political attitude than actual talent… and their political attitude is as mature as a teenager smoking a cigarette deludes himself to be.

Also, no SE in Europe. I take it EA still has NO actual trust that the brand can do well there – which is, surprise, part of why the brand doesn’t do that well there.

  • Struble says:

Still hoping they’ll inlcude a song or two from their side projects. I’d kill to play song songs by the Network. (Plus, it would be fun to see them in those costumes in the game)

  • Taker says:

While I’m one of the people thinking “No thanks”, I can see why they chose Green Day. IT actually makes me happy to see a not classic rock band getting a game, it gives hope to more contemporary band games.

Green Day: Rock Band is a day-one purchase for me. (Though not SO awesome that I’ll be doing the “take some time off work for dedicated rocking out!” like I did for RB2 or Beatles.) Much more interested in the Dookie-through-Nimrod material – as you’d expect by someone in my demographic – but I’m sure there’ll be a sufficient amount of that for my tastes. Was going to export the tracks regardless, but if GameStop is willing to comp me the $10, hey, that’s OK by me.

I think we should prepare ourselves for the Lady Gaga sales machine.

  • Riosan says:

Nah, I’m simply just not a big fan of Green Day.

  • Cam says:

@jimmyinnernets I am not even going to try and explain what I mean. I have been dealing with people dissing GD:RB since Dec when GD:RB was announced.

    jimmyinnernets Reply:

I’m not dissing anything. Honestly, there is some Green Day stuff I like but not nearly enough to spend $60 on a game for the songs. Maybe in 6 months or so when it drops to $30 or less or if I can get it used and still export the songs (as long as they don’t require a one time use code) I might get it. That’s a pretty big maybe though. There’s a lot of games out there vying for my gaming dollar and with RBN and new DLC every week, I don’t see this $60 getting coaxed from my wallet.

Don’t be so defensive. It’s just a game and it’s just a band.

Now if it were Phish Rock Band or Grateful Dead Rock Band, we’d have ourselves a crazy lit up hippie throw down! hehe. No honestly. More Phish and Grateful Dead in Rock Band now.

  • Max says:

I honestly don’t know if I will get it or not.

I love supporting Harmonix and the Rock Band franchise but I’m not really much of a Green Day fan. I enjoy some of their songs but they’re not a band that I follow by any means.

I’ll have to listen to more of their songs to see if I think they’ll be fun to play.
