FREE Version of Rock Band for iPhone Coming?

Thanks to @iTapple on Twitter for alerting me to something on the Austrian iTunes Store.  Apparently, there is a FREE version of the Rock Band iPhone/iPod Touch app available, and I’m assuming it will roll out soon to the other countries iTunes stores, as well.  The only catch is that it only contains one song, the Foo Fighters’ “Learn to Fly,” but what do you expect for a free app?  I was able to grab a picture from the Austrian store that shows the gratis (free) app above.  So if you were hesitant on committing the $6.99 to the app and not liking it, check out the free version when it hits your iTunes store.

In the meantime, here’s a link to the current version of the Rock Band iPhone app on iTunes.

UPDATE: The FREE app is now live.  Here is a link to the free version in iTunes.

    Downloading here from Italy…

The free version does NOT have a store, so you can’t expand the library with the three free song packs. You can’t even buy the full or even a partial song list from the basic game; this is nothing more than a one-song demo.

Too bad, I think offering the platform for free (or dirt cheap) and selling just the songs, like Tap Tap 3, would work better. Provided they started publishing song packs regularly, which so far they haven’t.
