DLC for the Week of January 5th

OK, this is pretty sweet, and VERY unexpected.  Joystiq is reporting that three live tracks featuring Sir Paul McCartney will be greeting us as DLC during the first week of the new year.  I’m still labeling this as a rumor for now until I hear official confirmation from Harmonix, but for Joystiq to be running it, there has to be some sort of weight to it.  Here’s the tracks they are listing:

  • Paul McCartney – “Band on the Run (live)”
  • Paul McCartney – “Jet (live)”
  • Paul McCartney – “Sing the Changes (live)”

Until I hear otherwise, I’m assuming these will end up in Rock Band, and not Beatles: Rock Band, but how cool would it be if they could be played in both?!

Update: It’s official! Harmonix made the announcement this morning here!  All tracks will be playable in Rock Band and Lego Rock Band, but sadly not the Beatles: Rock Band.

Pretty friggin sweet if it pans out, hope it does.

  • Ah poop, more live tracks…sigh. I wish they’d stop releasing live tracks – they are not the songs we all love and know. Sometimes I wonder if the masters (or whatever) are really unobtainable or if they’re choosing to release live tracks instead. If you have a choice, release the album versions.

I personally found nothing wrong with AC/DC live tracks. I do know what you mean though, a person listens to the studio version so much that is what we want to play.
