Green Day Rock Band is Fully Exportable, Importable
Harmonix released a press release regarding Green Day Rock Band following the West Coast airing of the Spike Video Game Awards officially announcing the new project. In it, they confirmed that the game will be fully exportable into Rock Band 2.
I had no reason to believe this was in doubt. Why have other Green Day songs playable in Rock Band 2, but not any songs from Green Day Rock Band? The Beatles were different due to strict licensing issues with Apple Records, which is why that games is always referred to as a “walled garden.”
I missed this initially, but the press release also mentions that all existing and future Green Day DLC will be IMPORTED into Green Day Rock Band, as well.
Now that exporting has been officially announced, does this change anything for some of you not originally interested?

It makes me 1% more interested, but I’m on Wii so we probably won’t be able to export anyway. If we can, that makes me like 50% more interested. Still withholding judgment until the setlist and price are announced.
The official press release actually states that the existing Green Day DLC will be playable in Green Day: Rock Band:
“In addition to the game announcement, Green Day will bring three more tracks from 21st Century Breakdown to the Rock Band Music Store as downloadable content on Tuesday, December 15th. The three pack of songs will include, “Christian’s Inferno,” “Last of the American Girls,” and “¡Viva La Gloria!,” all from 21st Century Breakdown. These songs, as well as Green Day tracks previously released on the Rock Band platform, will be supported in Green Day: Rock Band.”

Ugh… see what happens when you read the whole thing instead of rushing to post something late? Thanks for pointing that out… I’ll update it now! You rock, sir!
I’m interested now assuming the setlist is decent (wasn’t initially). But I wish the songs would be offered as a DLC pack, because I don’t care about the venues and models.

I concur. I’m excited about gettin some old school Green Day into my regular RB play, but I don’t think I’ll ever play the songs as part of a seperate, on-disc game. I barely even play the RB1 or RB2 careers anymore. I just play everything in Quickplay.
I’d much rather have a DLC pack than a separate game. I’m afraid of the Rock Band franchise going downhill and joining the Guitar Hero franchise with its ridiculous amounts of releases.
All I want is a Rock Band 3… complete with vocal harmonies!

i sure hope i’ll be able to download 2-3 songs from dookie.
i like some of their songs, but not that big of a fan to buy the entire rockband:Green-day game
It took me from a rather blasé “oh that’s cool,” with a desire to buy it, to making me excited. If they announce that it’ll have at least one song by the Network on it, I’ll plunk down a pre-order tomorrow.
Not interested in Green Day, but already have lots of stuff to play as it is! There are those LEGO and Beatles games people have no doubt heard about…
