Harmonix Hit with Layoffs Today
Read about this earlier this morning, and really didn’t feel like posting this on the site out of respect for those laid off, especially since I always try to report the good news related to Rock Band, but I think it’s right that everyone knows about it. According to a story from Joystiq, Harmonix had 39 layoffs take place today due to a company restructuring.
As someone who has been laid off due to “company restructuring” in the past, I can say that this is devastating to those directly and indirectly impacted. I don’t even work for Harmonix, but I have that sick feeling at the bottom of my stomach that probably won’t go away for a few days now. I never know what to say in stressful and trying situations, and usually responding by emotionally shutting down (can you say coping mechanism?), but let it be known that my heart truly goes out to those laid off, and I hope that good things are in store for them in the future.
My advice to all you who read this, please keep those both at Harmonix and in your personal lives who have been laid off in your thoughts and prayers.

Wow. This is really bad news. Mega-dry, extra harsh, no foreplay FML. My job ends next Friday, too, so I’m right in line with y’all.
Happy f’n Holidays, right??
Hang in there, everyone. Let’s keep the faith that better times are coming.
Peace, drums & guitars.

That’s really, really unfortunate. I feel terrible for those at Harmonix who were lost. It’s doubly-bad during the holidays.
Best of luck to all those involved.
