Rock Band Network Slated for Early 2010
I’ve known about this for some time, but looks like everyone else was touching on this during the Thanksgiving holiday, so it’s probably only appropriate that I address it, as well. The Rock Band Network, initially planned to emerge from the closed beta in November, has now been postponed until early 2010. The reason is that the product should be released free of bugs, instead of rushing a product to market that needs to be patched. As someone who has play tested tracks, I can assure you that the wait will be well worth it! Plus, with the delay, there will be even more songs available now at launch!
Via an MTV spokesperson:
“We’re working hard to get the Rock Band Network open public beta release of tools up before the end of the year, with our RBN storefront launching in early 2010. Exact dates still TBD. The tools necessary for bands to start authoring and prepare their content for review are already live on Creators.rockband.com/tools/download. The open beta launch will add access to the currently private website where all of the RBN community activity and peer reviewing of tracks will take place. People who join the Rock Band Network (bands, fans or otherwise) will be able to play and preview any song before it hits the store, so they should stay tuned for the official launch.”

I saw it coming but I still hoped to have Amberian Dawn by my birthday.. I’m sad.
Is there a place where we can see what bands/songs have already been created for RBN?

There are forum threads over at RockBand.com and Rockband.scorehero.com, but it’s hard to rely on these lists, as the tracks are in different stages of readiness (i.e. some have been announced only, some are being charted and awaiting review, some have passed review and are ready for go-live, and some have even failed peer review and may not make it onto RBN).
