Rock Band Blitz is leaving the Xbox and PlayStation stores

Blitz-logoThis is probably one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to write for RockBandAide but, after 5 years of availability, Rock Band Blitz is to be pulled from game store fronts on the 28th of August. The spiritual successor of amplitude at the time, the game switched to a standard controller setup not too dissimilar from Amplitude but was far simpler to grasp. It read all your DLC, including Rock Band Network tracks . It was also the first attempt of a social multiplayer environment rather than synchronous online, which can also be found more recently in Rock Band 4’s Rivals game mode.

While the coin economy had issues and some of the power-ups were more fun to use than useful, the game itself beamed character and was an absolute joy to play. Not to mention, it was great value for money as well. All 25 tracks in game exported to Rock Band 3 at the time with no additional cost. These also carried forward to Rock Band 4 as well. There’s still one month left to purchase guys. If you haven’t already, get on this straight away!

What you need to know

  • The full game and demo are being delisted on the 28th of August.
  • As with all delistings of past content, if you’ve already purchased the game or downloaded the demo already you will still be able to re-download them. They are yours to keep.
  • In addition, Harmonix will continue to maintain servers and online services after the game has been pulled. Any functionality at time of pulling will remain intact.
  • This should not effect your entitlements for the blitz soundtrack in Rock Band 3 or 4 providing you purchase Rock Band Blitz before it’s pulled.
  • This delisting does not apply to individual DLC tracks from the game. All 25 tracks were relicensed for release through the Rock Band Music store and will remain in the DLC store until further notice.

As always, if you have any questions about the announcement or what that means for you, you can always shout out to Harmonix on social media or their support page for more help.

Rest in peace, Rock Band Blitz

The coin system ruined this game. You had to grind for the right to play with power ups, which affect your score. It was designed like a Facebook game. It was a great value for a track pack, though.
