Setlist Checklist: Guitar Hero: On Tour Modern Hits

The Guitar Hero: On Tour series kept pumping out titles. Released in mid-2009, and very shortly after Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades, Guitar Hero: On Tour Modern Hits would bring the series to three titles in just one year. It would wind up being one of the EIGHT titles that were part of the Guitar Hero franchise released in 2009.

As with On Tour Decades, GH:OTMH was built on the original On Tour’s frame, although it was more substantially different than Decades. A big new feature was the “fan request” system that would change up the standard career progression from simply playing 4 songs and an encore, to having to meet specific demands from fans in order to progress.

One very well liked feature from Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades, the song sharing between games, would return meaning that playing multiplayer with an owner of On Tour OR On Tour Decades would allow you both to play the songs from both setlists.

As it was released very closely to Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades, you could still consider Modern Hits’ Rock Band equivalent to be Rock Band Unplugged. Between the two games, however, only one song is shared:

  • AFI – Miss Murder

As noted in previous Setlist Checklist posts (and all future posts, as well), as the holes are continually filled in by Rock Band’s weekly DLC releases, we will update this post, and keep it linked in the FAQ page above, for future reference.

The name Modern Hits gives a very good idea of what the setlist looks like. All of the songs on the setlist were released between 2000-2008. The game featured a 28 song setlist, although there was more disparity than ever between the North American and European versions of the game, with there being 12 exclusive songs to each version, for a total setlist size of 40. Of those 40 songs, only 10 are currently available in Rock Band for a total of 25%. It’s worth noting that one song was part of the no longer available Rock Band 2 Free 20-Pack, and another is technically purchasable through the Xbox store, but was never officially released. If we factor those two in, we get a total percentage of 30%, still a HUGE drop-off from Decades’ 65%, and On Tour’s 48%.
