A little warning: both the Azania and the Chad Smith’s Bombastic Meatbats songs are hard for tier 4 on guitar – too hard, in my opinion. Both are more deserving of a 5. Also, the Azania song had one of the most annoying chorus riffs this side of the second Slipknot pack. Tip to guitarists: avoid. The Meatbats track is okay, but I need to try the other instruments on that one before really forming an opinion.
The Van Friscia track is tough. They mean those devilheads. Think more “Blitz”, less “Marching Out” or “Zero Hour”. I found it too hard to be enjoyable, but that’s just my taste – if you love ‘em real challenging, this will probably be for you.
On the other hand, the Cynic songs were surprisingly fun (I didn’t particularly like their first two offerings, but these are solid to good), and I love finally being able to play the fiddle on “Santa Fe” the way it was meant to – on a keyboard!
If you had told me two years ago that we would have *a* Cynic song in Rock Band, never mind *four* Cynic songs, I would have thought you were crazy. The “Traced In Air” album isn’t quite as mind-blowing as “Focus” was, but it is still some of the most unique and creative stuff out there. Best week for Rock Band since the Maiden Epics pack!
