DLC for 2/19: Rock Band Blitz Singles
We had a five pack of Valentine’s Day themed singles this week, so we’ll be seeing a few more Blitz tracks make their standalone appearance in the DLC store next week, which will include:
- Barenaked Ladies – One Week
- Collective Soul – Shine
- Fall Out Boy – A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More ‘Touch Me’

How many Blitz songs are remaining to be released as singles?

Kids in the Street
Always
Jungle Boogie
Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom)
Give It Away
Shout
are the ones remaining, so probably two more weeks of three songs each.
(that list is courtesy of boomsniper77 in the comments of the last Blitz Singles announcement post… I just removed the three that were announced today)

My first credit. It feels good.
Damn. Was hoping for a collective soul pack containing some additional songs.

I was hoping the same thing for Barenaked Ladies.

Yeah, I saw the pic and was pretty excited at the prospect of a three-pack.

It was confirmed weeks ago that there will not be any more artist packs for Blitz songs.

Ah well. We’ll be back to regular NEW DLC pretty soon, so that’s something to look foreword to.

Although in the discussion thread, HMXHenry posted in one of the responses that there could be one or two instances where previously unreleased content could be released at the same time as one of these Blitz packs. Not saying they will, just that they did mention it’s a possibility.

Yeah, I think they said they wouldn’t do what they did with the Rick Springfield song again (one from RBB plus two new ones as a pack). They could still do what they did on New Year’s Eve with two RBB songs plus two new ones by four different artists.

Yeah, we could definitely get new content along side Blitz content, but an actual artist pack based around one of the Blitz songs, like the Rick Springfield pack, isn’t happening.

I thought he said that there would be one or two instances where a Blitz song would be coupled in a pack. Those two instances were the Foster the People pack and the Rick Springfield pack.
I think they’re just getting lazy, no Pro upgrades at all. It’s nice for people who didn’t buy blitz but for those that did, you would think there could be some kind of reward for them.

You mean aside from a significant price cut buying all of the singles and an ENTIRELY NEW GAME to play?
That kind of reward?

Well, when you put it like that…

Not to mention that on the 360, it went on sale for 600 MSP ($7.50) back around black Friday in November 2012. That works out to 30 cents a song, AND you still got the free new game! If I hadn’t already bought Blitz on release day, I for sure would have picked it up that week!

None of those three tracks are very interesting on protar, I’d rather have no pro upgrades this week than have an upgrade removed from, say, the Aerosmith pack.
Looks like there are 6 more Blitz songs left. So two more weeks of repeats in our near future.

And then what happens?? Are they just going to release new DLC every two weeks going forward? Really hope new weekly DLC continues.

If biweekly means getting stuff like the Aerosmith pack or the Valentine’s singles, I’m all for it. If I want three more-or-less obscure songs, that’s what RBN is for.

I’m pretty sure it will go back to normal weekly new stuff. Or they could go back for the Wii people and release RB1 and Lego tracks for DLC
a year ago I would had been for this as a Wii user with 900 songs but switched to Xbox and now have 1000 on that.

It’ll likely go back to weekly. I’m betting they are using the Blitz songs as a way to deal with the stress of people being on vacation over the holidays and not much work getting done. Gives them time to build up a good release schedule.

Well, so much for that, then…

Sigh.
We knew this would happen at some point, but I was still hoping it was in the vague distant future.
For me though, I think this is more part of the feeling that the current generation of consoles is really winding down, and I wouldn’t be surprised if trying to continue into the next one, as well as using the current catalog on an Xbox 720 / Playstation 4, was just too much of a licensing nightmare.
*cue taps* You will be missed Rock Band, but I won’t stop playing. I look forward to all Harmonix has to bring in the future.
I was really hoping for a 3 pack of Led Zeppelin this week….ba dum chhh
4 from Aerosmith, and 5 sappy love songs will keep our next rockband party entertaining!
Noooooooooo! “Shine” was the one song I was hoping (and assuming) would have a Pro upgrade from the blitz songs. I try not to let DLC releases bother me usually, but this is really disappointing.
