DLC 12/25: My Chemical Romance
Barring any 2112-like surprise end of year release (and it seems that @RockBand just hinted that there might be…), this is it. The final piece of DLC of 2012! While I don’t believe it’s Christmas related, stranger things have happened in the past! Anyway, let’s see what’s on tap this week…
- My Chemical Romance – Helena
- My Chemical Romance – Teenagers*
- My Chemical Romance – Sing
Tracks marked with * indicate a Pro-Guitar/Bass chart available for $0.99
Tracks will be released on Wii on January 2nd, PS3 (North America) on January 8th, and PS3 (Europe) on January 23rd.
Also, it should be noted that more DLC is going to come on December 30th (Jan. 2 on Wii, Jan. 8 on PS3 (North America), and Jan. 30 on PS3 (Europe))

Glad to be getting more from MCR. Already have Sing since I have RBB, but that’s a great song for the Wii players to be able to add to their collection.
Hmm… Needs more Na Na Na and Planetary (GO!) in my opinion, but will still buy the two non-Blitz songs.
Regarding next week, the DLC is set to drop on the 30th (Xbox) according to the linked post on the RB forums. And if you like MCR and play on a PAL PS3… sucks to be you, you don’t get it until the 23rd of February.
Getting “Teenagers”.
First DLC purchase since the 20th of last month.

who gives a damn that you haven’t purchased DLC in a month?
I haven’t purchased any on release day since Iron Maiden and Bullet For My Valentine AKA May.
also every idiot that complains every week about not liking the band needs to STFU because quite frankly, no one cares.

Comments like, “Oh, I haven’t purchased anything in three months!” are just as annoying as, “Wow. This band sucks.”
No one cares for it.
By the way, fuck you.
I do like Helena. I suppose that they’re going to be trickling out three-packs featuring RBB artists for the foreseeable future. Maybe there can be a “Diamond Eyes” pack with the Deftones’ “Diamond Eyes” and the Shinedown version.
Damn, was hoping to maybe get Dead from GH2

Same here. Have Sing already, and Dead wax one of my favourite from GHII.
Will be getting the two non-Blitz singles. Can next week be Fun. or Kelly Clarkson? I just want “Since U Been Gone” and “Some Nights”…

There’s so much Clarkson that it’d be tough to pick just two more to fit this release pattern. “I Do Not Hook Up” and “The Trouble With Love” would be great, but “Since U Been Gone” is the song that basically defined the kind of music she’d do from that point forward.
Plus “Darkside” since it’s newer and they’ve tended to skew that way lately.
Well after last week i’m happier this week. Long overdue with getting Helena.
Eh….I was expecting something big to end the year…just not my taste…
Rock Band took to their facebook page after seven or so complaints in 20 posts to state the following:
“Hey guys, get used to the re-releases. We announced when we released Rock Band Blitz that the tracks would come out as DLC eventually. We will be releasing the rest of the soundtrack over time. Not everyone bought Blitz, and Wii players didn’t have access to these tracks at all. We just want everyone to have access to the music.”
So who is next? I’d say Robert is right by saying fun. But, MAN, I’m hoping for Barenaked Ladies, Collective Soul, or, if it’s a simple 3 pack (with re-release), Foo Fighters, so they can FINALLY add “Big Me”.

You listed the 3 bands I’m most excited for more songs from – Foo Fighters(hoping for The One and For All The Cows), Collective Soul(Gel and December), and Barenaked Ladies(Postcard from Chimpanzees and If I had a Million Dollars). I’m hoping that the 3 Blitz 3pack that came out for the Wii a while ago doesn’t indicated no more BNL or Foos for us.

Barenaked Ladies was a band I was absolutely SHOCKED took as long as they did to appear in Rock Band (excluding their “Holiday Contribution”). I’d like to see the live version of “If I Had a Million Dollars” and “Too Little Too Late”.
Foo Fighters already have a million songs on Rock Band (hooray gross exaggerations), but “Big Me” is the ONLY song I can think of that’s sorely missing. To fill out a 3-pack, I’d add “Next Year”, because, as far as unappreciated Foo Fighters songs goes, that’s right up there towards the top for me.
As far as Collective Soul goes, I thought a 3 pack that included “Heavy” and either “Gel” or “The World I Know” would be just fine, though I wouldn’t be disappointed in “December”.

My only annoyance at this is that instead of 2 new songs, do 3 new songs AND the blitz song. I almost feel like I’m getting cheated when they tell me it’s a 3 pack, but wait I already bought one of those songs a few months ago.

[nigeltufnellvoice] But….but…but then it wouldn’t be a three pack! [/nigeltufnellvoice]
Awesome. I’ll get the two non-Blitz tunes.

Damn, ninja’s two posts above. To not make this post totally worthless, my MCR opinion:
Got excited when I saw the thread title but very disappointed with the choices – Danger Days has so many good songs on it besides Sing. Teenagers is good but Helena was IMO the only dud in the Guitar Hero MCR pack. At least we get Pro Guitar this week.

That response won’t do anything to curb whiners, if only because they’re the kind of people who don’t think of anybody but themselves.
But great to see them thinking of Wii gamers. That didn’t even cross my mind when I first saw them start releasing Blitz songs.
KStrickTech Reply:

People whine. It’s what we do. Hell, I STILL whine about the ending to Mass Effect 3 (and the Extended Cut) and it’s been, what, 7 months now? Granted, my complaints are less of the bullcrap ending(s) and more of the whole “Love the ending or f*ck off” response from BioWare after the Extended Cut did little to quell angry fans. Sometimes it DOES get results, but mostly it just pisses people off and forces gaming companies to do harmless and “by-the-number” games like Call of Modern Duty: Battlefield Edition.
Definitely picking up Helena, will probably get Teenagers as well. Wouldn’t mind seeing even more songs from Three Cheers
I’m not surprised by people whining about the “Sing” release. It’s the same crowd that moaned that they were “Blitz Exclusive”, and about the Green Day re-releases, and about the Green Day songs only being available via Export.
That’s what they do. They whine.
That said, “Teenagers” is something I’ve been wanting since GHII got it as DLC way back when. So glad it’s finally “crossed the pond” so to speak. It will go on the backlog, but points are tight these next few weeks with the Countdown to 2013 on the XBLM.

I was one of those whiners last week, difference for me personally this week is the 2 other songs in the pack this week compared to last week. I still am not a fan of this trend as there is no incentive for me to buy the full pack at discount having supported Blitz since day 1.
KStrickTech Reply:
December 21st, 2012 at 9:41 am
The game Blitz by itself was supposed to be the incentive; or, as they put it, the game was supposed to be the point, and the uploading of the songs to Rock Band 3 was supposed to be an added incentive.
I don’t know if I’m in the minority or not, I just didn’t enjoy Blitz at all, unfortunately.
Gbangr Reply:

Yeah after thinking about it Blitz is the best deal IMO then buying those tracks individually. If you bought 13 songs individually you would be paying more then blitz, 7 when the sale was on. I love Blitz, the weekly FB goals is a revelation and I hope they push it further with future releases.

Great song too, they’d have plenty of songs that’d be great for RB.
Nice to have some more MCR….I of the bought Blitz crowd wished they gave an extra incentive to those who actually purchase it but I digress….
I will be purchasing the other two songs though so thats a plus….and this is a great addition to the 2 already released MCR songs.
This will also be the 2nd time Ive purchased Teenagers as it was available quite awhile back in the Guitar Hero franchise…
Good stuff HMX and I plan on getting a little time in over my Xmas vaca days.

I need to get some Microsoft points soon! Those are some good picks.
As one of the whiners from this week and last, I wish we would’ve gotten just one week where the DLC was the entire Blitz soundtrack (or even separated into two releases), and then two singles in later weeks. It’s cool that Wii owners get the tracks this way. I didn’t mind the Green Day re-releases because it was over the course of just two weeks. This is going to feel like forever until we get three new tracks in a single DLC release.
I’m guessing that this is how HMX licensed the tracks, but as someone who bought Blitz, it just puts a damper on the next couple of months worth of DLC releases.
T Reply:

But as somebody who couldn’t buy Blitz (such as Wii owners) it’s great for them. It won’t always be about us on the PS3 or 360.
And yes, I too bought Blitz on Day 1.
If they continue releasing the Blitz tracks in a 3-pack of the artist, then I want a Fun. 3-pack with Some Nights or Carry On and a song from the first album (Walking the Dog or Be Calm would make me REALLY happy).
Toad3000 Reply:

Agreed. Any two of those would round out a 3-pack nicely. Maybe make it a 5-pack just to be safe.
Will get Teenagers, for sure. Helena I’m not familiar with, but will give it a listen. Sing I like, but I already have it.
Here’s hoping for a Barenaked Ladies 3-pack in the near future, though – Every Subway Car, Million Dollars, or maybe Pinch Me would all be nice. That said, the issues of then One Week being a re-release on the Wii due to the Blitz-day release for it might cause issues, or at least screw up the pack due the rules Wii has against old DLC and new DLC in the same pack (as seen with the 21st Century Breakdown Green Day release where the full album wasn’t available due to the mixing of DLC)
awesome! best dlc in awhile for me. not their best songs but ill take all mcr. new.mcr had keys on.some..was thinking wed see some of those soon
get both songs and welcome to black parade as I apparently missed that song when it was released.
…
Yes! This is exactly the Blitz song I wanted ever since the game came out. And since the re-release trend started, I was hoping Sing would come soon. Just gimme the Shinedown single and I’ll be well set.
Also excited for end-of-the-year dlc.
Now I’m happy that mcr is back but uhh…

They’ve only done Christmas DLC for two of the past five years, and one of those years it was only one song. Why put in the work into releasing songs that are going to be irrelevant the very next day?

Kudos indeed
This is quite possibly one of the best Christmas DLCs I could get, even with the Blitz repeat. There’s still a lot of MCR that I would love to get in RB.
Thank you Harmonix for getting another one of my all-time favorite bands!
Let’s hope Pack 02 has “Famous Last Words”, “The End/Dead!”, “Na Na Na”, “Hang Em High”, “Thank You for the Venom”, and/or “Vampires Will Never Hurt You”.
Seriously, if we get “Dead!” without “The End”, I might cry.
Guessing we will see another 3 pack next year with:
Dead!
Famous Last Words
Na Na Na!
Hoping that’s the case at least…
Im happy about teenagers and helena, but i would have also loved Dead and Famous Last Words. As with last week with Elton John, Im not sure how I feel about the whole 3rd song is in blitz thing, but it does lead me to believe that now another Blink 182 pack is in the works, and Id LOVE if Carousel and Going Away to College could round out a 3 pack with re-releasing Always…
Also, praying for a Fun. 3-pack of Some Nights, Carry On, and We Are Young

I really want a song from Aim and Ignite in the pack, but there are probably more chances that it will only be Some Nights, Carry On and We Are Young… Oh well, as long as It Gets Better is not in the pack, I’m okay with pretty much anything.
Finally, good DLC. Why are they releasing Blitz songs as DLC?

If there is to be a Foo Fighters 05 in the future I wouldn’t be able to say no. I had totally forgot about ‘Generator’ a great song. Someone else brought up ‘The One’ earlier, another under-rated song. Would be great to have those and yeah totally if I had to take another song from the latest album then ‘Bridge Burning’ for sure would be my pick.

The only thing I’d replace in the FOB pack would be “Me & You” for “Headfirst Slide…” or “America’s Suitehearts.” And in the Blink pack, “Josie” over “M&Ms.” The Maroon 5, Kelly, Fun., and AAR packs are perfect.
Based on the Blitz trend if 3 pack are coming out like this then that means… My wish could come true! Foster the People Pack 02, “Houdini,” “Waste,” and “Pumped Up Kicks.” fun. Pack 01, “Some Nights,” “All Alone,” “We Are Young.” And of course my BIG seller (please keep all snickers to yourself) Fall Out Boy Pack 03 (Any 2 of these), “I’m Like A Lawyer With How I’m Always Trying To Get You Off (Me & You),” “The “Take Over,” The Break’s Over,” “20 Dollar Nosebleed,” “What a Catch, Donnie,” “Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet,” “From Now On We Are Enemies,” “Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner,” “Thriller,” “Golden,” “The (After) Life Of The Party,” “Bang The Doldrums,” “XO,” and then of course “A Little Less “Sixteen Candles,” A Little More “Touch Me”.” If this happens I might never request DLC again. True statement.

Yes. We should be friends.
Super pumped about Helena. I’m not a massive MCR fan as I don’t know a lot of their stuff but this song really stood out for me during its airplay back in 2005.
I have to say this collection of songs has me scratching my head a little. I expected something a little more Holiday themed. Oh well, the under 25 crowd will probably enjoy these. Maybe I’ll get my wish next week with new years day (yeah right!), or the new year by dc.
Hopefully we can get another A7X pack if they keep releasing blitz artists
Oh if we’re getting blitz as dlc that’s fine, I just want:
Tears for fears: sowing the seeds of love, mad world
Foo Fighters: arlandria, big me.
Queen: the hitman and who wants to live forever.
Those would do fine in 3-packs.
Eff that noise.
RICK SPRINGFIELD 01
* Jessie’s Girl
* Don’t Talk To Strangers
* I’ve Done Everything For You (Sammy Hagar cover)
Pack also includes free download link for the movie “Hard To Hold” and two episodes of “General Hospital”.
I got really excited when I heard abput this dlc but then I scrolled down and seen that for a 2nd week in a row theyre putting a song that was already free to port from blitz, it just doesnt make sense especially since it wastes a song slot in a 3 pack. Its just lazy, I really wanted to have famous last words but no, lets make a free song from another game. Same with the green day bullshit, they could have rb3 versions of the song and I would be happy and see the point as dlc. Im not one to complain but this isnt crying about bands sucking or bad songs. I expected more from Harmonix.
I like a bit of My Chemical Romance. They remind me of being a teenager even though I was well into my twenties when I first heard them.
