What’s Your Favourite Rock Band Song?
As of now, there are almost 4000 songs in Rock Band, and with such an expansive catalogue, it’s no easy task to try to find your favourite, but we here at RockBandAide would love to know what yours is (and why)! Given the fact that the 5th anniversary of Rock Band is upon us, I thought it’d be great to do a countdown of the best songs in Rock Band, but I don’t think it would be fair to just post what I liked, so I decided that I’d ask you guys what some of your favourites are!
Tell us in the comments!

It’s My Life by Bon Jovi, pretty easy but a blast to play when playing Full Band
Still love “Highway Star” by Deep Purple. As a great song, plus the song that was the intro to the original Rock Band, it is always one of the first songs to come to mind when asked to pick a RB tune.
Would love a RB3 version with keys.

I agree, Highway Star is probably my favorite song to play in RB. I love the guitar and my friend loves the vocals. I really do want a RB3 version too, quite badly. It might not be my favorite song ever but it’s high up there and a blast to play.
My personal favorite is “Weapon of Choice” by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
It just blows me away no matter how many times we play it
It’s really hard to narrow it down to just one all time favorite. Dawn of a Million Souls by Ayreon is always a good personal favorite of mine, but when I’m in the mood for something truly ballcrushing Abraxas of Filth by Cephalic Carnage gets the job done, and then there’s the novelty songs that aren’t too great musically but are always a favorite at parties like Motorcide by Man Parts, Bra Off Party On by Thinderdikk, and Last Train to Awesometown by Parry Gripp. Then there’s of course the more obvious epic choices like Bohemian Rhapsody and 2112, and the older tracks that bring back a total rush of nostalgia like Black Hole Sun, Dani California, Say It Ain’t So, Tom Sawyer, Wanted Dead or Alive…..I honestly can not just pick one.

Oh yeah, can’t forget to mention Ghost of Perdition by Opeth too.
“Heart Shaped Box” by Nirvana. Playing that song in GH2 made me fall in love with the plastic rhythm genre. And HMX mainly. Been following them ever since!
Smash It Up (Part 2) by The Damned. Just amazing.
My top five:
1. “Kool Thing” – Sonic Youth
2. “Oh Yoko” – John Lennon
3. “De-luxe” – Lush
4. “American Music” – Violent Femmes
5. “Leaving Here” – The Who

Taste is truly an interesting thing. I absolutely loathe all those songs.

Well, I’m certainly glad you’ve told me! I’ll go ahead and cancel that invitation for you to play Rock Band at my house!

Nevermind that, I’ll go for the food instead. Just don’t tell me you’re a vegetarian too!

I AM ACTUALLY
(I’m not even kidding, I’ve been vegetarian for about three years now)
When they put up the Doors finally it made my mom very happy, so that will always hold a spot for me. As well as Head over Heels.
Huh. Generally speaking, I really wasn’t aware how much tolerance people round here show for poor instrumental parts as long as they really like the song. Not that I’m different in that regard; I just notice it when it’s songs that didn’t survive my last DLC purge (I’m close to the 2952 limit, so I need to go through the songs every now and then to delete stuff that I bought that’s not really that great). Just goes to show how tastes differ, I guess.
I love me some Rise Against. Especially the DLC form the past 2 years.
She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult. Never heard it before RB and now we play it all the time. It’s become a party classic here.
legacy DLC – Opeth – Ghost of perdition
RBN – Kaipa – In the Wake of Evolution
at 2.1 k songs atm

Ghost of Perdition isn’t legacY DLC.
Roundabout, Medicate, Tell Me Baby, No One Knows, New Fang…
I loves mah bass…
I think in terms of being fun on every instrument, as well as a great song, you can’t beat ‘More Than A Feeling’. Runner up places for ‘Welcome Home’, ‘Highway Star’ and ‘Jesus of Suburbia’
For an individual song for group play:
“Everlong” by Foo Fighters — Almost everyone knows it and has some memory associated with it and the parts are interesting without being overwhelming. Being one of the popular songs during Rock Band’s peak of popularity doesn’t hurt either.
Favorite Pack:
“Heartache Duets”: It was clever, highlighted and underserved dynamic of gameplay, and had a sense of humor. It was the last pack that I can remember feeling like an “event” and the last time I remember a lot of my friends being jazzed for Rock Band DLC.
It is hard to pick just one, but as a die-hard Alice in Chains fan, I will have to go with Heaven Beside You – Alice in Chains. A great song, and fun to play (and especially to sing!).
If I consider simply sheer fun on every instrument, then I must go with New Fang – Them Crooked Vultures
Blink-182- Dammit
Green Day- 21 Guns
Avenged Sevenfold- Nightmare
Disturbed- Inside the Fire
My Chemical Romance- Welcome to the Black Parade
Paramore- Misery Business
Bullet for My Valentine- Scream Aim Fire
Foo Fighters- Everlong
Fall Out Boy- Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down
Lamb of God- Laid To Rest
My Top 15: (In No particular Order)
1) Won’get Fooled Again
2) Shooting star by bad company
3) One Week by Barenaked Ladies
4) Blue Sky by Allman brothers Band
5) Can’t Get Enough by Bad Company
6) Juke Box Hero by Foreigner
7) You Should be Dancing by the Bee Gees
8) Me and My Gang by Rascal Flatts
9) Wanted Dead of Alive by Bon Jovi
10) I want it all By Queen
11) Peace of Mind by Boston
12) Sweet home Alamba
13) Mary Jane’s Last Dance (Live) by Tom Petty
14) Hot Blooded by Foreigner
15) We Didn’t Start the Fire by Billy Joel

We should be friends
Favorite On Disc: Blink 182 – Aliens Exist
Favorite Official DLC: Hoobastank – Crawling In The Dark
Favorite RBN: The Agonist – Thank You, Pain
Won’t get fooled again!
I like the songs by artists that I listen to outside of Rockband the most. Meaning, best songs for me are the ones from Radiohead, Silversun Pickups or Death Cab For Cutie. I also love Post-Rock, and the closest thing to it are the RBN songs by Killbody Tuning.

Oh, and Blink 182 songs, especially from their latest albums.
My favourite Rock Band song (that is, my favourite song to play in Rock Band, not at all my favourite song to appear in Rock Band) has to be “Foreplay / Long Time” by Boston. Rock Band was made for songs like this. If you needed a song to demo exactly what makes Rock Band so awesome, this would be it: wailing guitars, badass vocals, high kicks aplenty. It’s a damn shame Harmonix has stopped with the RB3 Versions, because this song in particular would be even better with harmonies and keys.
My favorite would be The Ramones! The tracks that HMX has put in the game so far RULE!!!
P.S. HMX, RB needs MOAR RAMONES!!!!!!
Loverboy – “Working for the Weekend”
Still love me some “Alabama Getaway”
Rick Astley: “Never Gonne Give You Up”. It’s cheesy enough that you can play it with almost any crowd and it goes over great!
Dammit, I knew this was gonna happen. After already posting my pick and now reading the other folk’s favs…
Everlong, Dragula, Dani California, Thrill is Gone, Schizophrenia, By the Way, Need You Now, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, A Lot Like Me. It’s beginning to sound like a K-Tel music cassette commercial.
Hard question! I’d say Aqualung.
I like a lot of songs from the game, so is really hard make a choice for a single track… I think i can nominate 2 songs from each version of the game based on the times i already played them.
Normal DLC – Listen to the Music – Doobie Brothers and I Heard It Through The Grapevine by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
RBN – Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On – Jerry Naylor
From RB1 – Green Grass and High Tides – made famous by Outlaws and Highway Star – Deep Purple
From RB2 – Ramblin’ Man – The Allman Brothers Band and Alive – Pearl Jam
From RB3 – Killing Moon – Echo and the Bunnymen and Just Like Heaven – The Cure
REO Speedwagon – Roll With The Changes
Adam’s Song – blink-182
I love it
AC/DC-”Shoot To Thrill”
My big two are “It’s My Life” by Bon Jovi, and “Foolin’” by Def Leppard. I’ve played each of them over 90 times, as a warm-up on drums. Despite that, they’re still fun to play every single time.
This is hard, just one song? That’s hard. I’ll have to pick five or so:
green day – jesus of subberbia
green day – homecoming
two very epic songs. They just work, the fact that harmonix managed to secure, pretty much, three full albums from a band in one year is just staggering.
social distortion – story of my life – it’s different to the gh3 version not the least because that one was a cover, but it actually sounds generally different, much more rocky in general. it’s awsome.
brad paceley – mud on the tires – an all round fun, country song. love the guitar part in this one. vocals are a blast, and i wasn’t really into country music beforehand. for another song, life is a highway also makes the cut too.
i have so many more i can list, oh heck there’s just list a bunch without explaining:
glados still alive, johnathon coulton mendlebrock set, livin on a prayer, wanted dead or alive, 2112, spirit of radio, me and my gang… seriously, throughout the years this platform has just added so many songs, and harmonix have actally been listening to the community and responding, and it is for these two reasons that I will stick with rb for as long as I possibly can.
More than a feeling.
Great on all instruments. It’s just fun to play, whether you like the song or not.
Hysteria – Muse
