DLC for 9/4: Linkin Park 4-pack

With Rock Band Blitz arriving this week instead of our normal DLC, we’ve got more than enough to keep us busy, but if rumors from earlier this week are accurate, we will have another three singles coming next week, so without further ado…
- Linkin Park – Breaking the Habit
- Linkin Park – Shadow of the Day
- Linkin Park – New Divide *
- Linkin Park – Burn It Down
* Denotes Pro-Guitar/Bass chart availability for $.99.

Well, I was hoping for “The Catalyst” or “Papercut,” but these songs will do just fine. “Burn It Down” is great, while “Shadow of the Day” is one of my favorite Linkin Park songs. Hopefully there will be another pack, because I loved the first one.
Might get Breaking the Habit. Not a fan of their newer stuff and Shadow of the Day got WAY overplayed on the radio and by friends.
My money’s safe.
Okay, if I’m to be disappointed by this not being Burnin’ For You, then I’m happy that the alternative is more Linkin Park. Looks to be more key heavy and softer than the prior pack, but I’m still a little miffed that we haven’t gotten Faint yet. That would probably be the most fun song to play in Rock Band.
Insta-buy pack for me.
Hm. Looks like those rumoured singles will have to wait at least another week – which makes sense, considering that we just got a huge “bundle” of singles.
Anyway, very much looking forward to “Breaking the Habit” and “Shadow of the Day”, even though the first LP pack was somewhat lacking on guitar (oh goodness, “Crawling”. Eurgh).
Pass. I barely played the first pack anyways.
Not a fan of their new stuff. More Hybrid Theory please.
Hmmmmmmmmm…..I like Linkin Park, but not so much their newer stuff. However, all the newer songs in this pack(Post-Meteora) are tolerable for me. I might just cave and get the whole pack. Might…….
Super glad that more Linkin Park is coming and hopefully more in the future!
I’d have preferred the rumor.

Agreed. I was stoked for more Blue Oyster cult and then I checked RBA to see Linkin Park in the title. I think it’s time we give LP a break and go to other bands that need more songs in Rock Band (Tragically Hip, Metallica, Muse, Blue Oyster Cult, Led Zeppelin…)
i saw the singles feared that rock band was going soft. This is a welcome pack.

WTF? It just did, with these poppy song choices. I was hoping for songs from Hybrid Theory, back then these guys were at least somewhat heavy.

yeah, I can see how much edgier Carole King is than Linkin park.

I’m glad that you realized that. Then there was Blue Öyster Cult which is much cooler than LP. Or instead we could’ve had some real metal.
Breaking the habit YES! Its going to be dumb on drums though haha

That’s pretty much what I thought. Best song on this pack…and it’s got a ridiculously fast hi-hat. Great.
LOL NOPE
This is a nice surprise. Happy with more Linkin Park!
Very excited for this. Eagerly waiting to play “Breaking the Habit”. Bleed it Out and Faint are strangely missing from this pack though…
HELL YES! LP is probably my favorite band, so I’m definitely excited!

Boo-f*ing-yah!! More from my second fab band! (RHCP being the first)
LAME. Who is buying this stuff? Feel like we are getting Nickleback and Linkin Park way too much. Once a year is a lot right?

Spoiler: Popular music sells well in Rock Band. It’s really not a huge logic gap to explain that.

I believe the first Linkin Park pack is the best-selling post-RB3 DLC. Harmonix is making Linkin Park the first post-Blitz DLC cuz it will sell like crazy. Not my type of metal, but I figure Harmonix have to release stuff like this, which will turn a big profit, so that they can bankroll niche stuff I love like Maiden, Yes, Slayer, Hendrix, Ozzy, Rush, etc.
FYI, combined scores on the leaderboard for all the Rush released last December = 77,000. Combined scores on Leaderboard for all the Nickelback released last November = 99,000. Combined scores on Leaderboard for all the Linkin Park released in January 2011 = 557,000.

I don’t understand what number of scores proves. In that linkin park pack, one person can post 52 total scores. In that Rush pack one person can post 35 total scores. I believe my numbers are right but someone could double check. Also, a song could be bought once but played on 6 different accounts on the same console. The combined score numbers to me are irrelevant. Rush was also released almost a year after Linkin Park.

That’s true of every multi-instrument song, so it’s a valid comparison.
Hines Reply:

It may be valid when comparing two songs with the same number of instruments, but when comparing two packs (which had a different number of total songs as well as a different number of total instruments) it isn’t at all.

Maiden, Yes, Slayer, Hendrix, Ozzy, Rush, etc.
Niche.
Wut.

Come back when you learn to spell Nickelback right.
Also, your maths is off – there were 17 months between the Nickelback packs and 20 months between LP packs. Hardly “one per year”.
Damn, really wanted Stars. Hopefully later.
Harmonix here are some suggestions, these are Linkin Park classics…
Bleed It Out
Lying From You
Faint
Papercut
And here the descent songs from Linkin Park…
Leave Out All The Rest
Lost In The Echo (Only song on Living Things that is worth listening to).

That’d be an instant buy LP03 for me.
Pack of the Year!!!
kinda disappointed we did not get Faint though….
Very little middle ground on this band. Lots of people love them and many think they are a bunch of posers.
I’m not a huge fan…but I think their music plays very well in RockBand, especially for parties. I will be buying at least 3 not sure about “new divide”.
FoxForever Reply:

Well just think of it that if you buy the other 3 then new divide will be discounted because of the sales of it in a pack.
Glad to see “New Divide” in this pack. Was one of the few good things to come out of Revenge of the Fallen.
…God I wanted to like that movie.
A nice 4 pack. A 6-pack could have had castle of glass and faint in it. But this is fine.

That’s a dangerous-sounding song title!
as much as Hybrid Theory and Meteora have been requested, I’m starting to think Linkin Park doesn’t want their awesome old stuff in Rock Band. For almost an entire pack to be made up of the last three albums, which sound nothing like the first two albums (even breaking the habit is stretching it for me), that seems to be the only reason why we’d get these.
Still…happy for those who like the new stuff. Linkin Park is obviously making enough money to stick with this direction, so enough people will probably buy this to make it worthwhile, and that’s good for the game. I shan’t be buying it though.
More Linkin Park?!?!?! Come on, these guys are just awful, period.
I like it, I wouldn’t have minded a few older songs, and I liked Bleed it Out from GH6 and would have like it to cross over, but I know and love Breaking the Habit, and the others I don’t know but like the preview well enough. Will buy.
Hmm. I can’t stand Shadow of the Day and don’t know Burn it Down, but I like Breaking the Habit and New Divide enough to cherry pick those two. I think if Faint were to come out I’d have all the Linkin Park I need in RB.
I love that we’re getting some new Linkin Park but I was hoping “Given Up” would have been in there. I want to see if I can hold that note like Chester. I wonder if it’s being withheld because Harmonix doesn’t want anyone to sue them for ruining their vocal cords. LOL
The rumored tracks sounded so much cooler than this.
Very happy.
Meh. Disappointed that Papercut and Bleed It Out are missing.
Very excited, can’t wait!
Wow, thought we knew this week’s DLC also this is an awesome surprise. Linkin Park are one of my favourite bands so I’m so happy to see them back in RB, even if the new album is a bit meh.
Really surprised that they chose Breaking the Habit over Faint – I felt sure that if we got a Linkin Park 02 that Faint would be in it. Instead we get an equally great but much less RB-friendly Meteora song. Oh well.
Happy with the others though. New Divide is one of the best LP songs of the past 5 years, and Shadow of the Day is the best song from Minutes to Midnight (and another personal favourite of mine), even if it won’t be very RB friendly. And if you had to pick a song from Living Things then you cuold do a lot worse than Burn it Down.
Disappointed at the lack of Hybrid Theory (RB should just have that whole album already) but I’ll take all the LP I can get. Now to wish for Linkin Park 03 with Faint, Papercut, The Catalyst, Bleed It Out, Points of Authority and Runaway.
I’m a huge fan of the band, but if I had been asked to make a 4-pack, I don’t think I would have picked ANY of these songs. :-/ Never cared for Shadow of the Day, Breaking the Habit got old fast, New Divide is ok, and Burn it Down… ok, this one I can’t really take issue with, because promoting new material and whatnot (and I haven’t listened to it enough to suggest a different track).
Still, excited to see more from them, will definitely download it, and just hope that Pack 03 will include better songs.
I’m not a big fan of the band, but for some reason I really enjoyed Breaking the Habit, and I had fun playing the songs in the last pack, so I’ll probably get this whole pack as well.
After having one of my favorite songs of all time being rumored for this week, there is literally nothing that could be more disappointing for me than getting Linkin Park instead. Well played, HMX, well played indeed… :p

BOC? Me too…
Very disappointed this morning, and couldn’t agree with you more!
I hate Linkin Park with a god damn passion. Theyre up there with Coldplay and Nickelback in bands I hate, Theyre repeatitive, boring, emo, whiny, and just overall terrible,
That being said, I will probably end up buying shadow of the day, because that song has a bizarre personal meaning for me, and was the only song they wrote that i not only tolerated, but kind of liked.
Breaking the Habit is cool
I’m very happy with this!
Unfortunately, this will have to wait. I don’t play Rock Band 3 by myself that much (and when I do, it’s on a rare occasion). So, this will have to wait for a little while.
I have the points for it, but I’m going to pick up new Skyrim DLC on Tuesday since I do play that a lot.
This makes me really sad, you have no idea how excited I got when I thought we were getting Stars, I wasn’t that pumped for DLC since we got Imagine, but now my hopes and dreams are destroyed. No Hum on Rock Band
When are we going to get a full album by anyone again ? It has been forever.
Thedave Reply:

I think the days of full albums are long over!
Shadow of the Day will go good with Pat Benetar’s Shadow of the Night.
For those that didn’t catch it, the rumor has been confirmed fake. I can’t say that they aren’t in the pipeline, but we have no reason to believe they are now.
Sorry for those of you who wanted those songs.
I wanted the others Rock Band Blitz songs for the wii… :’(
I don’t know why some of you are hating, but I was expecting three of those songs!!! It’s good news right here. Their newer songs are great too!
I’m glad there is no songs from A Thousand Suns. I hated that album. Their new album is decent though.
Love all these songs, but I would gave added Faint, Bleed It Out, Given Up or Runaway. Maybe in another pack?

would have added*
Oh and it’s been a long time since we got more than 3 songs on a regular DLC week!
Still looking for “Points of Authority”, “Faint”, and maybe “Runaway”.
