Outfit Your Xbox Live Avatar in These Rock Band Blitz Shirts

In advance of Rock Band Blitz arriving tomorrow on the Xbox Live Arcade (but today for you PS3 players), three new Rock Band Blitz avatar t-shirts are available for your male or female Xbox Live Avatar. The prices are 80 MSP for each shirt, or roughly half the price of a standard DLC track, for those keeping track at home.

Unfortunately not available for your Xbox Live avatar? Blitz Mittz. Marketing opportunity wasted, Harmonix.

[Thanks to @Croq360 for the heads up!]

Too bad these couldn’t have been unlocked in the game.

I was wondering if there’d be any Avatar Awards associated with Blitz. Guess this answers my question: No.

This doesn’t necessarily negate avatar awards in the game… Plenty of games have awards, and marketplace items.

That said, no, there are no avatar awards in Blitz.

I can’t remember the last game I played with Avatar Awards. Probably Rock Band 3. I don’t know why more games didn’t support them. I guess they just realized a lot of people are dumb enough to buy that stuff. (I’m not one of them, I’ll use them on my avatar if I unlock it, but I won’t pay real money for a digital t-shirt for a tiny me).

There are a decent number of games that support them. When I go into the ‘Awards’ section of my 360 guide, I count 48 games in there that I’ve played that have Avatar Awards with them.

Yeah, but anything released recently? It seems to me like games quit supporting these a year or two ago. I honestly can’t remember the newest game I’ve played that used this feature.

Just from my list, released in the past 12 months, with Avatar Awards: Mass Effect 3, Trials Evolution, Forza Motorsport 4, Zuma’s Revenge, Minecraft, Dance Central 2, Joe Danger: Special Edition, The Gunstringer, Kinect Sports: Season Two, and Saints Row: The Third.

Where can I get a real one?

I don’t get the Blitz Mittz reference. Usually when I don’t get something on the interwebz, I google “[thing I don't get] meme”. In this case, “Blitz Mittz meme” returns nothing. Gah! I not only no longer know the latest memes, my tech abilities have atrophied to the point where I can no longer hunt down their meaning! :-(

I’m guessing “mitts,” like what you put on your hands when it’s cold outside.

I was leaning towards it being Stephen Colbert’s SuperPAC. Let’s hope the Blitz Mittz are as cool as their gaming predecessor:

Harmonix is giving them away as promotional swag out at PAX, fingerless Blitz gloves IIRC.

Yeah, Drake said on the most recent episode of Major Nelson’s podcast that they were going to be giving away Blitz Mittz at PAX.

Happy to share! :) I like these shirts, but I’m not sure I can get past my will-not-buy-clothes-and-other-crap-for-my-avatar mindset. I do know that a bunch of people like to dress up their avatar though, so this is nice for them…

I was the same way until some of the Minecraft items were released. I just couldn’t pass up the Creeper pet and Creeper head. Aside from that I’ve always been content with default clothes and avatar awards.

Oh, the blitz link on the site still goes to undefined.

Now that the game is available for everyone, the banner ad is working properly. \m/
