DLC for 8/14

As you may (or may not) have read in a post I published last Saturday, there are some big behind-the-scene changes coming to RockBandAide, but hopefully the transitions will be smooth enough that readers won’t even notice. In fact, most of the expected changes should result in much more original content here on the site, so that’s a bonus for everyone.
Anyway, here is what’s coming for DLC next week:
- Foreigner – I Want to Know What Love Is
- Foreigner – Waiting for a Girl Like You
- Nightwish – Amaranth *
* Denotes Pro-Guitar/Bass chart availability for $.99.

Awesome – my two favourite Foreigner songs, plus it’s yet another two off the Vice City list. These will be EPIC on vocals and keys.
Nightwish I’ve never heard but I know it’s been top 10 most-requested for a long time so I’ll check it out.

Holy shit, that Nightwish song is AWESOME. Definitely checking this band out!
I know a lot of people have wanted nightwish for a while, so cool for them.
I wanna know what love is will be awesome
The odds of this happening have got to slim to none, but I’d kill for Juke Box Hero (Original version).

After we got Hot Blooded and Urgent last year I said exactly the same thing about Girl Like You and Wanna Know What Love Is. Never say never – especially since we now know that masters from 4 exist.
YES! For Foreigner! I’ve been craving for more Foreigner since we got Hot Blooded and Urgent a while back. Finally, an excuse to get back into Rock Band after a little break!
Finally! I’d buy that Foreigner pack a million times if I could!

It’s not a pack. Or do you mean the old pack?

Referring to the two singles, sorry. But Nightwish is a great addition!
Rock of Ages night here we come!!!!!
Or is it aged rockers – hahaha
AW YES. THE FOREIGNER BALLADS. Epic singing commence.
Nice to finally see Nightwish.
Not so keen on ‘Waiting for a Girl Like You’ and I highly doubt I’m getting the other one. Early Foreigner is much better.

I totally agree, but I’ll take what I can get (and mostly just sing it, anyway).

At this point, that’s about the best we can do, unfortunately. Hopefully we will get more in the future. I think it will sell quite well.
Nightwish! Finally! Further proof that it is U.S. tours, not new albums, that seem to drive artists and labels to give their music to Harmonix. Plus, first time one of my choices on the Facebook Dashboard has made it into the game. Now that Nightwish is out of the way, Therion is next. Right, Harmonix?
Koehan Reply:

I second this… I’ve been waiting for Nightwish and I have requested Therion on my Dashboard wishlist and in the web tool… Bring moar symphonic metal!!!!

As much as I LOVE Therion as well, (and just being realistic here, guys) there is an absolutely zero chance of getting Therion. Nightwish is the biggest symphonic metal band and we’re lucky Harmonix finally acknowledged them. I fucking love Nightwish too, though, they’re what introduced me to symphonic metal, a genre I didn’t even know existed!

I know… our last hope is via RBN but it seems that Nuclear Blast is releasing tracks from All Shall Perish only…

Sirius B + Lemuria, make it happen, Harmonix.
I have honestly never heard of any of these songs. When I saw Foreigner, I thought we might fianlly get “Double Vision.” Alas, two balads I don’t know. And never heard of the band Nightwish. Could be in the minority here, but a pass week for me. I’ll save my money for the discounted SR3 dlc next week

That first sentence was exactly what I thought when I saw the songs in the first Foreigner pack. In fact, from a European perspective, I’m amazed that it’s possible to know of Foreigner at all and not have heard those two ballads, because apart from “Urgent”, they’re the only Foreigner songs ever played on the radio.
YES!!!!.FOREIGNER ROCKS!!! Good harmonix!
Damn, I saw Jeff Pilson in the picture and thought we were finally getting Dokken. Oh well, the Foreigner songs will be fun.

Dokken were one of my favorite bands of the 80′s. Good musicians, excellent songwriting, just a quality act all around. They were in a weird situation, though. Not heavy enough for the thrash metal crowd, not over-the-top enough with the hair and makeup for the glam metal crowd, not enough classic rock influence for the AOR crowd.
SWEET MOTHER OF GOD NIGHTWISH.
HARMONIX, TAKE ALL OF MY MONEY NOW.
While I like both of those Foreigner songs, I’m not sure how much fun the instruments will be in RB. Definitely fun for the vocalists though, so I’ll pick them up for parties.
Yay Nightwish making their RB debut! Boo Wishmaster not being their debut track!
Ospero Reply:

You weren’t seriously expecting Tarja-era Nightwish in RB? From what I can tell transpired between the band members, that’s about as likely as Slash-era Guns N’Roses.

Honestly, I know very little about Nightwish, but I know lots of people have been clamoring for their addition for some time. I just want the one song I know. I can sum it my knowledge of the band as follows:
- Wishmaster is hilariously awesome
- Their lead singer changed a few years back, and the new one isn’t as good (my sister’s opinion)
Ospero Reply:

The change you mentioned left behind quite a bit of scorched earth. I don’t know much more myself, but the band and their former singer really aren’t on speaking terms anymore.

I want “Bye Bye Beautiful”
Nightwish? Don’t they already have like 1000 songs on RBN already?

Probably thinking of Amberian Dawn.
*still misses Tarja*
I’m soooooooooooooo happy to finally have Nightwish on Rock Band!!! Thanks a lot!!!
I really wish that this could’ve been a Foreigner pack with “Double Vision” included, but I’ll take it. I’ll have to listen to this particular Nightwish track before I buy it.

I’d love to see a Foreigner 02 consisting of
Double Vision
Head Games
Long, Long Way from Home
Juke Box Hero (Original Version)
Classic Rock? I’ll TAKE it!
Really digging the Nightwish song too.

Ditto!
I love these Foreigner songs. If the charts look fun to play on Tuesday I’ll pick them up. Too bad they didn’t get the original Jukebox Hero.
Snoozapalooza!
Not a vocalist or keyboardist so those Foreigner songs will bore me to sleep. But finally we get some Nightwish!!! This is awesomeness! The only band in the entire world that dared to cover a Gary Moore tune and pull it off respectfully! Hats off to Nightwish and HMX!
I am encouraged.
I’m glad to see some 80s these past two weeks and I’m really excited to see more Foreigner.
I really wanted Starrider when I saw Foreigner, too bad instead we got two really, really boring songs.
And Nightwish? That chorus sounded cheesy as hell but then it seemed to pick up.
As happy as I am to see nightwish, a part of me wishes it was from something during the time Tara was their vocalist.
i’m on an android and i literally JUST woke up so when i saw that tiny picture i thought the dude in the middle was steven tyler…

Oh, it took neither for me to think that (I was wide awake and looking at a laptop monitor), so you’re not alone.
I think I first heard “Waiting for a Girl Like You” on the old “Secret Love” compilation commercial.

While Foreigner is not on it, this kinda reminds me of the ultimate CD Compilation commercial:

I could go for all of these songs on Rock Band!
NIGHTWISH.
The literal reason I bought Rock Band was because (way back in RB1) I was like “I bet someday they’ll put Nightwish on here!”
HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGHHHHHH OH YEAH.

But yeah, I’m right there with you. This is the single greatest DLC of all time.
YES!!!!
These two ballads from Foreigner are EPIC!! Thanks Harmonix!!
They will be on my site shortly after the release, for sure!!
NIGHTWISH!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!! \m/
Nightwish \m/ hell yeah. I hope to see more from them. If this pack had been completely Nightwish that would have been even better but I wont be greedy. I hope this will get more of the other underground metal groups to come to rock band, like Primal Fear, Iced Earth, Hammerfall, Sabaton, more Nightwish, Stratovarious, and I can go on.

Screwed the replying before, so I’ll put this here too.
Well, here are some of the less-known bands that I’ve listened to lately:
Seventh Wonder (Best prog metal band IMO, Tommy is the new singer of Kamelot), Damnation Angels, PelleK, Persuader/Savage Circus (same singer in these two), Pretty Maids, Leverage, Masterplan, Scheepers (from Primal Fear), Dream Evil, Powerwolf, Scelerata, Teramaze (coming to RBN) and Threshold.
Seth Reply:

I have heard of most of them. all but maybe one which is Pretty Maids. Do you remember Iron Fire, Iron Savior. I just got some more Dream Evil songs. Powerglove is also amazing! Exmortus is another one
MacFarlane Reply:

Iron Fire, not so much, but Iron Savior yeah, Condition Red is my favorite from them. You should get Pandemonium by Pretty Maids, great album.

Almost forgot, Rage is a great band too.
I knew we’d get “Amaranth” eventually! Sooo pumped on that. 60 million views on YouTube don’t lie!

Hope they get more metal bands from roadrunner. Gojira, machine head (the new stuff), fear factory, mercyful fate, hatebreed, 3 inches of blood just to name a few. And hopefully they are pro upgradeable since I only play proguitar.
Foreigner has me mega-excited!
Maybe the powers that be could have picked some of the many ROCKING songs from Foreigner that would excite the Band as well as the vocalists. Starrider, Long,Long Way From Home, Dirty White Boy, or Head Games. Maybe next? time…P.S.{congrats on your new baby!}
Yeah Classic Rock!
I’ll pick up I Want To Know What Love Is
Was I the only person not to realize that “I Want to Know What Love Is” doesn’t have a guitar part? That was probably the biggest surprise for me this week…
