DLC for 8/7
The DLC for this week apparently leaked, in fact @HMXhenry even mentioned that it was available in the store for 5 minutes yesterday. Let’s see what it actually is…
- Cutting Crew – (I Just) Died in Your Arms Tonight *
- Whitesnake – Still of the Night
- Hoobastank – Crawling in the Dark
* Denotes Pro-Guitar/Bass chart availability for $.99.

YES! Another Vice City song off the list and it’s one of my all-time favourites! Plus the first classic rock song in three months, and it’s absolutely brilliant. Don’t know the Hoobastank song but if it’s anything like their song in Elite Beat Agents then I’m sure it’ll be awesome.
EPIC WEEK. BUYING EVERYTHING TWICE.

Crawling in the dark was their first big hit back in the esrly 2000s. Never played EBA.
But yea, great week.

I totally missed this earlier. Little sad to see Whitesnake described as “classic rock”. It’s only…25…years…old. *SIGH*

Normally I would agree, I hate using the term ‘classic rock’ because it’s not technically a genre – but I used it because it’s the first song since Two Tickets to Paradise that would get any sort of airplay on ‘classic rock’ radio stations. (Plus it’ll probably be labelled as such in the game.)
Toad3000 Reply:

I guess so…but only cuz we don’t have a “hair metal” genre tag.
DVD Smith Reply:

Plus, it is a rock song, and it is undeniably a classic. Kind of the old “she’s a girl and she’s my friend” argument, but meh.

I’ve always been told that Rock music is considered “Classic Rock” at 25 years. So the timing seems right. Of course, new songs by bands who have been around for over 25 years also seem to be deemed classic rock sometimes too.

Crawling in the Dark was a good choice which I’m getting. Will definitely buy any EBA songs that come through though!
Except La La, unless it’s the EBA cover of it.
buying all 3 – great week.
No complaints this time.
Pretty great week all around. All 3 songs are good, and excellent variety.
Awesome what a great week!
Never expected the Cutting Crew.
Great Harmonix!

Agreed, great week! Now they need to work on getting “Twilight Zone” by your namesake… Having “Radar Love” is awesome, but we need that one too…

That would be awesome! My favourite song of the Golden Earring is ‘When The Lady Smiles’. Maybe in the future?

That’s a great song too!
Awesome week!! I LOVE Still of the Night! I’ve been waiting forever for that song. Don’t know the Hoobastank song but I’ll give it a listen.
I love single weeks, especially when they are different genres.
Kinda weird they didn’t get the most popular Hoobastank song but I’m good for (I Just) Died in Your Arms. Dunno the Whitesnake song, I’ll give it a listen.

I think “The Reason” would be somewhat boring to play*, and as a debut, “Crawling in the Dark” is a little more representative of the band. Now that they’re on the platform, no reason not to hope to see the bigger hit sometime down the line.
*This is one of my wife’s favorite songs of all-time.

I could see “The Reason” and/or hopefully “Is This Love?” by Whitesnake possibly being amongst the unannounced Blitz songs.
samjjones Reply:

Those two songs are not on the remaining Blitz setlist. Sorry.
MattyT Reply:

That’s only if the “leaked” list is true. Which, as we’ve seen over the years regarding leaks, isn’t set in stone.
Cassie Drake Reply:

Omg, I would kill everyone and their dog if “The Reason” came to RB. I effing hate that song! 1) It’s a whiny song in the first place, 2) TOO MUCH OVERPLAY!!!
That being said, I’m SO SO SO stoked that we got “Crawling in the Dark” instead!
samjjones Reply:
August 4th, 2012 at 8:25 am
“2) TOO MUCH OVERPLAY!!!”
Define “overplay”. If you mean played a lot on the radio 6 or 7 or whatever years ago when it came out, and sold a bazillion copies, then I guess you’re right. But that’s pretty much every “popular” recording ever released. If you don’t like the song because it’s whiny, that’s fine, but I can’t see how you can hate a song just because it’s popular (which is evidence that lots of other people like it).

I just felt like it was EVERYWHERE. In my city, we’ve got a Top 40 radio station, a rock station, an alternative station, an indie station, an adult contemporary station, a classic rock station and a country station. Only two of those stations did not play that song once an hour. I felt like every time I entered anyone’s car and the radio was turned on, that song was the first one I heard. Any time I entered the mall or a store, that song was playing. Every time I turned on the TV that song was being played. I felt like that song was stalking me. I actually stopped listening to the radio because I was tired of that song being on everywhere. Even this decision did not cause me to go more than a few hours without hearing this song somehow.
Yeah, there are a lot of popular songs now that get a lot of airtime, but since I don’t listen to the radio anymore, I don’t get overexposed to them. My best friend listens to the Top 40 station and complains that all she ever hears is Justin Bieber. I think I can name like, two of his songs ever, because aside from Top 40 radio and MTV, his music doesn’t really get played.
It’s great that “The Reason” was a big hit for Hoobastank, and artists are allowed to grow and evolve and try different sounds. But it was nothing like what I had come to expect from them, it was different from the sound that I had come to love, it was a sound that I personally am not a fan of, and I could never escape it.
I just felt like I heard it enough that one year to last two lifetimes and if I never heard that song again, I’d be much obliged to the whatever gods are out there lol
Yes yes and yes!!! Have wanted still of the night since rb1!!!
Outstanding! I love all three of these songs.
Epic “Oh it’s THAT song” on all three of these.

I had that on the Cutting Crew song. I havent had that in a long time lol
does this mean “the reason” might be headed to Blitz? has that been part of any of the track announcements?
Croq360 Reply:

No, that song is not in Rock Band Blitz tracks announced so far, nor is it in the “leaked” list of songs.
Pass on the Hoobastank. Getting the other two for sure.

Awesome week!! Sooo happy
Super excited!! My bday is today and I was hoping for some for some stuff that I will have to buy asap…. curse you harmonix lol.
Finally – a good week this summer. Some of us were getting worried.
Finally a decent week of songs. I might pick up white snake.

I don’t follow, Whitesnake actually had a good guitar player and a vocalist whose vocals have aged very well.

Have David Coverdale’s vocals aged well, though? I saw them a few years back in Atlantic City, and it was pretty apparent to all but one of our group that he was lip-syncing.
Still of the Night is sweet, great riff. Cutting crew song I never expected, and Hoobastank, eh
This is probably the weakest singles week of this year.
That said, definitely buying “(I Just) Died in Your Arms”. I’ll ask my parents if they want the Whitesnake song, since I wouldn’t be getting it for myself.
Ospero Reply:

Considering that there is a bona fide #1 hit among the three, and that we had a one-song week, no, it probably isn’t.

Guess I should have added an IMO.
No, I realize that these are all fantastic gets, but they’re just not my thing. I preferred the other singles weeks. Cutting Crew is still great, though.
YES! “Crawling in the Dark!” Strike out another classic Karaoke Revolution song off the list. Buying that as soon as it hits the store.
YES YES YES!!!!!!!!

Thanks Harmonix! Picking up Whitesnake and Cutting Crew! Let’s hope they keep up some more classics.
No complaints this week.
OMG!! Still of the Night, one of my favs of Whitesnake and it’s finally come. I’m shocked to see Cutting Crew and I’ll be getting them and Whitesnake when they release. I hope this becomes the start of more Whitesnake. Now I can’t wait for RB Blitz, so I can play 80s music set.
Hmmm, I think we have a winner this week. I see only one complaint so far.
Awesome week!
Also, those girls from Whitesnake are hot!
not making still of the night pro is a huge mistake.

Probably because hair metal guitar tends to be incredibly fun to play, no matter how dated the songs may sound. Died In Your Arms isn’t exactly what I would term a guitar classic.
Died in Your Arms is so overdue!
Nope. Not for me. Enjoy.
Great week again! Two old-school classics and one “new” classic!
We get bands like Hoobastank over slightly more current versions of that same sound like Billy Talent?
Bleagh, is all I have to say.

lol I don’t see what Hoobastank have to do with Billy Talent, BUT OMG SOMEONE ELSE KNOWS WHO BILLY TALENT IS!!!
We totes needs some Billy Talent in RB. SO MUCH BILLY TALENT!
Wow, finaly stuff I will buy, been like 3 months, and other than Love Shack, been some lean times for new music.
Oh, I’m definitely getting I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight, and maybe Still of the Night, which looks like it’ll be fun.
On the note of DLC purchasing, it has been a bit lean this year, but these past few weeks have been pretty good.
I’m excited.
Whitesnake and Cutting Crew! Sweet!
Now, if we can get Your Love by The Outfield…
The precursor to getting everyone back into the game a few weeks before the release of blitz. Awesome week of singles!
Hey, man. We’re Poison!
Might grab the Hoobastank song. TOTALLY getting the other two. Great week! Love those songs
Wait. The Whitesnake song isn’t getting a Pro upgrade? Yeesh.
