Thursday Throwback: “Behind Blue Eyes” by The Who

For this week’s pick, I’ve simply turned to a song I’ve just purchased, and quite like. My pick this week is Behind Blue Eyes by legendary rock band The Who.
Like fellow rock bands Rush and Queen, The Who has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the most successful artists of all time. Also like said bands, they are no stranger to those who played a lot within the Rock Band franchise. The band has had three on disc songs (Won’t Get Fooled Again on the original Rock Band, Pinball Wizard on Rock Band 2, and I Can See for Miles on Rock Band 3), with Won’t Get Fooled Again regarded as one of the best songs ever in the game. With great reception for the song, in July after the release of the original Rock Band, a 12 pack “best of” collection was released, featuring loads of classic The Who tunes, picked by Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey themselves, including my pick.
Behind Blue Eyes was originally released in 1971, on their legendary album Who’s Next, which is widely regarded as one of their best albums ever. Although the single didn’t chart too well, only reaching No 34 in the US chart, it has since become of the band’s most well known songs. You might of heard this song via Limp Bizkit’s cover from 2003, which charted quite well in various countries.
Similar to Every Rose Has Its Thorn by Poison and The Only Exception by Parmore, the beginning of the song features a 3-tier acoustic guitar leading the way, with a mixture of singular notes and chords. This is backed by 1-tier vocals, with your usual Roger Daltrey vocals and backing vocals (which sadly isn’t charted) for the first 45 seconds of the song. The 1-tier bass kicks in at that point, which compliments the guitar nicely. This nice ballad continues until about the two and a half minute mark, where your crazy Keith Moon 4-tier drums kicks in to your usual The Who fashion. Make sure your alert when you start drumming!
Got any ideas for any artists we haven’t featured yet? Or different songs by artists we have featured? Any ideas would be great!
After looking through this site, why don’t you head on over to my growing fansite, The Tribute Pages which features loads of tributes of video games, TV shows and movies. As a bonus, all the previous Throwback Thursday articles are been transferred and updated there too, with the latest Me and My Gang.

Do Love My Way by The Psychedelic Furs, because more people should know that this song is in Rock Band.
Summertime Rolls by Jane’s Addiction
How about Siva? One of the best bass charts available as DLC, plus a fun devil-tier drums part and diverse and challenging guitar/vox. Probably the best Pumpkins song available in any rhythm game, period.
