DLC for 6/26

We’ve been on quite a roller coaster of DLC announcements lately, with the last few weeks seeing a variety of singles, versus a pack from one artist. Will the trend continue into next week as well? Lets find out…

  • Carrie Underwood – Before He Cheats
  • Carrie Underwood – Cowboy Casanova
  • Carrie Underwood – Good Girl *

* Denotes Pro-Guitar/Bass chart availability for $.99.

When I first saw this DLC announcement I admit I did think to myself “who the hell is this chick… and does she have a good rack?” just as my wife walked by and said “that’s Carrie Underwood, I like her.” Now, my wife is not a music fan nor has she ever played Rock Band with me or at all for that matter but it did get me thinking that maybe this DLC will be pretty groovy. I clicked the play button on the sampler and try as I may I just couldn’t feel inspired so I’m going to pass on it. Although it’s not in my interests to buy this DLC I’m sure it will be popular. My non-musical wife convinced me of that plus it’s more DLC and that’s a good thing!

So, uh, why don’t you pick it up for your wife and try to convert her?

I noticed that there’s usually a hugely negative reaction in the relatively narrow RB community whenever a poppy artist is announced. The same thing happened with Miley Cyrus awhile ago. I don’t like Miley, but it’s catering to a broader audience than people realize. Although I do think that HMX should perhaps add in single or two to appeal to others. The three-song kick they’ve been on, while somewhat understandable, has some downsides too.

Roller coaster? I feel that quality of DLC is paralleling the value of stocks during the great depression.

I normally don’t care much for country music, but “Cowboy Casanova” is a guilty pleasure buy for me.

Actually, I also like “Good Girl” and will likely buy it, too – I just didn’t know the song by name before.

I’ve recently stumbled onto the unfortunate situation of of having to re-download my entire RB music library. Regular DLC is fine, as are re-downloading the RB2 & Greenday exports, but the exports for RB1 & Lego Rock Band were handled differently — and as a result they do not show up in my dowload list — only the Export Keys are available.

As I recall, the RB1 export code on the instruction manual was not unique; however, I no longer have my copy of RB1. So if someone out there still has their copy of RB1 on PS3, I would greatly appreciate it if you could post the code here. Thanks.

Also, if someone has an unused Lego Rock Band export code kicking around, I would appreciate that as well.

    Thank you kindly.

I’m almost positive that Lego Rock Band was no different than RB2 or Green Day or any of the other track packs. If you ever bought the export license and downloaded the tracks, it should show up in your download history and you can re-download it at any time.

Rock Band 1 was different in that there was no download at all; anyone could buy an export key and that key just gave you the right to rip the songs directly from the disc. So you’re going to have to get your hands on a physical copy of RB1 to get those songs.

Not my thing, but it’s not like I don’t have enough to play, and lord knows my wallet can use a break. Good for those who are into this, though.

At this point I’m just eagerly awaiting an announcement on Rock Band Blitz’s release date, but I suppose that because it’s online only they probably don’t even know themselves. It’s really bizarre how difficult it is to know exactly when things are planned to be released outside of specialized events like Summer of Arcade, etc.

I always find it fun to come into these threads when a mainstream pop artist gets added to rock band. I think the people who really get upset are just embarrassed that their cliquey hipster nerd game just got “violated” by some musical genre they don’t care for.

Then their friends that don’t play rock band will laugh at him saying “did you get the new Miley or Carrie DLC, wussy boy?” and then, because he has zero self-esteem, he’ll get in a fight, lick in wounds and cry himself to sleep that night.

I feel there’s been far to much metal and hard rock lately, so this is refreshing. Not my cup of tea, but considering every week +5 hardcore thrashy RBN songs come out, we should all welcome something for the rest of the community. Not everyone likes what you like, you learned that in preschool the same time you discovered “sharing” and memorized your colors. Green, Red, Yellow, Blue and Orange, of course.

One of my best friends was Carrie’s boyfriend through the American Idol days. She dumped him back in 06.
It’s weird, though, that I knew somebody who dated her. He would listen to her first CD and get all emo about it after the breakup.
Anyway, my wife loves her, so I guess we are picking it up.
