Harmonix Teases Three Artists Coming This Summer as DLC

Not sure if the tease was a concession for the sole DLC track next week (due to a last minute licensing snafu), or was a planned announcement similar to last year, but Harmonix also included three artists that will have DLC arriving sometime this summer:
- The B-52s
- Daughtry
- Queens of the Stone Age
No word yet on what songs, or how many from each artist will be appearing, but fans of these bands will probably be excited.

What QOTAS could we be getting? I feel like we have all of the big hits. Some deeper cuts would be nice though.

The rest of Songs for the Deaf. Anything from self/titled or Rated R?

I will definitely buy anything more from Songs for the Deaf. Gonna cross my fingers for You Think I Ain’t Worth a Dollar.

Queens has so many songs that would be perfect for RB. I’m hoping for something with Mark Lanegan on vocals though.

I’m hoping Hanging Tree is one of the songs. Or really anything else off of Songs for the Deaf.

That would be cool, then we get another song with Trent Reznor in it! He sings background vocals, if you didn’t already know.

OhohohohoHOHOohohooo no. The 5 songs we have so far is an anemic offering when you look at their full catalog. My reasonable wants from the first album would be Regular John, How to Handle a Rope, and Mexicola. I wouldn’t mind anything from R, but the other albums have better offerings. We could definitely use Medication and Burn the Witch from Lullabies. I have hopes for Long Slow Goodbye, but meh, it’s up to what they license. More of anything off of Era Vulgaris would be awesome. I don’t like the longer dragging songs from the latter half of the album as much, but I’d take’em.
However. WE. NEED. FUN MACHINE.
Also Regular John live from Amsterdam would be my farthest shot of a TAKE MY MONEY NOW.
“LOVE SHACK”!

It’s either that and/or Private Idaho, can’t think of any other songs by them besides the 2 already in game.

Debbie (from their retrospective album in the late 90s)…apparently Cosmic Thing and Channel Z were released as singles around the same time as Love Shack, I would love to have those. Maybe even Planet Claire.
But yeah, I’d say Love Shack is a sure thing.

Cool, I’m sure those are other possible songs, especially if they need to fill out a pack. Not a huge fan but I like some of their stuff.
What I actually would like to see and this is more of an REM song though is Shiny Happy People.

Planet Claire and Dance this Mess Around would be nice. Song for a Future Generation would be an interesting choice.

I hope it is “Love Shack” at least! As mentioned by others, there are some other songs that would be great too, but Love Shack is a MUST!!!
Sort of said it in the DLC announcement thread, but woo Daughtry!
Others I don’t know well enough to care.
Never heard of Daughtry.

Croq Reply:

Agreed, Carrie Underwood has been huge.
Other American Idol alumni that have had a career where you might have heard of them after the show are:
Kelly Clarkson (the first winner, has had several albums and hits)
Clay Aiken (doing Broadway & was on Celeb Apprentice this year)
Jennifer Hudson (won an Academy Award for Dreamgirls)
There are others too, like Adam Lambert, David Cook, David Archuletta, etc. But the others have probably had more notable successes.

That’s saying VERY little.
Yes to Daughtry. Nothing else.
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE YEAHHHHHHHHHHH
No to Daughtry, yes to everything else.
YES! FINALLY this game is getting Daughtry! They’ve been long overdue. Hope we get something off their first album (although their newest album has some amazing tracks on it). Here’s hoping for a 4-pack of It’s Not Over, What I Want, Over You and Renegade.
Yes to Daughtry! Meh to all else
Would rather have more Them Crooked Vultures instead of more QotSA

This. One thousand times this. I’m not too keen on QotSA, but I really like TCV. Also, more likely to be Dave Grohl.
Diaboros Yuzuha Reply:

QOTSA has come to have better drums since Grohl was around.
GloofiE Reply:
June 9th, 2012 at 1:40 pm
Dave Grohl set a tone as their drummer, but Joey Castillo pushed it to the rawness it needed. Gotta love ‘em both.
I think “Song for the Dead” would be the most fun to play on drums. Then again, I’m not picky. Just glad they got more of my favorite band. Pro guitar for “Turnin’ on the Screw” would also be pretty badass.
Diaboros Yuzuha Reply:
June 10th, 2012 at 5:02 am
Yes, best song for QOTSA drum nuts.
Also, holy hell, Turnin’ on the Screw would tear your fingers apart unless you had good callouses or the Mustang Pro. Dat powerdrill interlude…
I feel like it will be a Daughtry 4-pack:
Home
It’s Not Over
Feels Like Tonight
Over You
Maybe we’ll get that Daughtry song that featured Slash. The one from GH On Tour.
QOTSA!
Feel Good Hit
The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret (how this wasnt the RB3 on-disc song is crazy)
In My Head
I’d also be happy with Auto Pilot, Monsters in The Parasol and Someone’s in the Wolf
I feel stupid for hoping this considering how little effort seems to be put into Pro guitar these days, but still, a Little Sister Pro Upgrade would be all kinds of awesome.

No one knows of it to be honest.
No to Queens of the Stone Age, yes to everything else.
Love Shack – calling it now.
B-52s & QOTSA – YES!
Daughtry – Errr… never heard of them.
Hoping for Mosquito Song for QotSA.
Probably going to get Love Shack for B-52s.
I’m sure they could pick whatever for Daughtry and people will be pleased.
I love QotSA and I really hope we get “The Fun Machine Took a Shit and Died” but I have a feeling it won’t be that one
Love Shack for B-52s most likely.
Daughtry is pretty good for the most part, I’d pick it up.

“The Fun Machine Took a Shit and Died” is a great song! Sadly, the whole Rated-T-For-Teen thing won’t allow it. Songs about killing prostitutes are rated Family Friendly, but we can’t have 13 year olds being exposed to the word shit!

There is nothing prurient about it. It is not an in-your-face, “Let’s go kill some hookers! Yeeaaah!” kind of song. But it is about a serial killer who stalks a red light district.

I want this song so damn bad. It can definitely go in the library regardless of content. What supports this is that Serj song Beethoven’s C***… and that they cut Apache Rose Peacock to hell. They can censor “shit” in the title and the ONE occurrence of it in the song. Otherwise, the song is clean.
Diaboros Yuzuha Reply:
June 8th, 2012 at 8:41 pm
Hell yes! If they can get 2112 and Rime of the Ancient Mariner into the library, Fun Machine is fair game!!!
Qotsa?!?!?
WOO Finally more from them, I’d love anything off their self titled album, if only and avon would be the best though
Very VERY excited about Daughtry!
Maybe the B-52′s and maybe Queens of the Stone Age. It just depends what’s released for both of them.
Keeping a Secret needs so badly to be in the game. Private Idaho is a must for the B-52s. More stuff from the Ricky Wilson era.
Daughtry … yay for his fans.
Still hoping we’ll see more INXS, Cure, Primus, and Flaming Lips from the list of RB3 artists who haven’t had any DLC yet. Oh, and another Yes pack, please.
Eww Daughtry is terrible.

Seconded, kind sir!
B-52′s is fantastic! I would prefer NOT to have Love Shack, but to have Strobe Light, Planet Claire and Cosmic Thing if it is only 3. Two more could be Private Idaho and 52 Girls.
Eric Reply:

I would love more than 1 from this list:
- Private Idaho
- Mesopotamia
- Debbie
- Cosmic Thing
- Planet Claire
- Love Shack (If only because it’s unavoidable; I actually don’t think it would make as great an RB song compared to some of their others)
She Brakes for Rainbows by the B-52s always helps me sleep.
Shane Reply:

That’s an underrated song off of a pretty unknown B-52s album. Summer of Love isn’t too shabby, as well.
I’d also take Deadbeat Club (one of my fav songs by Fred & Co.) off of Cosmic Thing.
Pass
Pass
Meh
And there’s the best HMX had to offer at E3! It was loads better than the dance central BS.
More Queens of the Stone Age? SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! I don’t even play Rock Band 3 anymore because I sold it and now I haven’t been able to find a used copy anywhere, but I would ABSOLUTELY by all QotSA they put out. Just the satisfaction of knowing when I get RB3 it will be on there. I’d say either a full album, or a 12 pack with:
-Regular John (live)
-Give the Mule What He Wants
-The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret
-Better Living Through Chemistry
-In The Fade
-Millionaire
-Song for the Dead
-Do It Again
-Someone’s in the Wolf
-You’ve Got a Killer Scene There Man
-Turnin’ on the Screw
-River in the Road
Though I doubt a quarter of these songs would end up on there because they’re not hits. I just think they would translate to fun game play.
I hope that QotSA gets a pack of songs, not just one
no to all…
and a lame E3 too… how i long for rock band 4
“Regular John” or we riot. The drums… the drums, man. Robot rock at it’s finest. Hell, gimme a S/T 3 pack- “RJ”, “How to Handle a Rope” and “You Can’t Quit Me, Baby”. You know what? Just gimme “You Can’t Quit Me, Baby”. Hypnotic. Possibly my favorite QOTSA song, especially live.
CCDaDon Reply:

The version of You Can’t Quit Me Baby on Over the Years and Through the Woods is OP status
Songs for the Deaf full album. Calling it now.
it’ll probably just be half made up from their new album.
Meh to all three. Really it depends on the songs though. There’s no way I’d get away with not owning Love Shack for my mom’s sake if they released it.
