DLC for 1/31

Well, it’s been a few weeks since we had DLC from one of the sets of artists announced in the livestream from December. If I was a betting man, I would put my money on either Bush or Huey Lewis & the News DLC for next week. Lets see if my bet paid off…
- Sum 41 – Fat Lip *
- Sum 41 – Still Waiting
- Tears for Fears – Head Over Heels
* Denotes Pro-Guitar/Bass chart availability for $.99.

Tears for Fears. RIGHT ON.
Woah! Did not see this coming! Wish it had been a Tears For Fears pack with Mad World and Shout too. Oh well. Hopefully more will come soon!
Super excited about “Head over Heels” – which is my favorite Tears for Fears song besides “Shout.” I would have preferred “We’re All to Blame” for the other Sum 41 song, but it’s still a good week. A fine example of how you don’t need a billion songs released in a week for it be a solid offering.
o…..m…….g……..sum 41 and tears for fears….and i love all these songs. day 1 purchase
Great announcement. I love all three of these songs, will be picking them up on Tuesday. Fat Lip is long overdue (hello, GH1), and I’ve been expecting Head Over Heels since we got a Tears for Fears song on-disc for RB3. Still Waiting is a pleasant surprise, though.
For those who haven’t seen the literal version of “Head Over Heels” on Youtube, I strongly suggest you go check it out.

Yeah, I’ll second that. Hilarious. One of the best (if not the best) of the literal video versions.

+1 to that as well. My top favorite is still “Making Love Out of Nothing at All”, but “Head Over Heels” is unquestionably top-flight material on the literal video front.

I don’t think I’ve seen that one, but I’ll try to pull it up now. As a side note though, why do Jim Steinman songs seem to lend themselves so well to the literal video interpretation?
Dammit. I HATE it when they release two songs from a band. Why not just get one more and make it a three pack? Ah well. Better than nothing!
In for all three, as always!

From what I know, they license songs in sets of 3 from artists.
The other Sum 41 song was in Lego Rock Band: In Too Deep

Which still doesn’t explain the (in total) two Tears for Fears songs we’ll have on the platform this Tuesday…

Why not? That would only mean that there’s still at least another Tears for Fears song in the pipeline.
Safe guesses would be either:
Sowing the Seeds of Love
and
Mad World
And since they didn’t release it with Head Over Heels, I’m guessing whichever other single it is, it will have a pro guitar upgrade.
I’m thinking each of the livestream artists occurs once a month.
OMG YES YES YES YES YES!!!
About time we got some more effing Sum 41 in this game! I’m sad it wasn’t a full 3-pack [or even better, a 5-pack or 8-pack! come on! they've got lots of great singles!] but man, I’ll take what I can get. Needs me some more Canadian lovin’.
Now to get some Billy Talent and Three Days Grace into the game!

10/10, totally agree. I’d kill for Billy Talent.
Which instrument is shown on the left side on Head Over Heels? Keyboard or guitar?

Keyboard.

Left side is always keys.

I like that Chad Kroeger’s Mom is participating in discussions not involving Nickelback. It’s nice to see.

Chad is a nice boy. And although I was disappointed that there was no Nickelback released this week, I’m glad to see a song from my second favorite band, Tears for Fears.
HEAD OVER HEALS! My mom is going to cry! It is by far her favorite song!
Totally wish we could’ve gotten a Tears pack but this will do. At least they got one of the best ones.
Head over Heals will be lots of fun to belt out harmony style with friends. Not a big sum 41 guy but it looks like others are happy with it, which is good for dlc sales.
Would have hoped for 1 or 2 more from Tears for Fears but oh well, I’m sure they have their reasons for the 3/4 song weeks in January.
Fat Lip will be tons of funs on vocals with two people. I like the back and forth lyrics.
I am SUPER THRILLED about “Head Over Heels”. Would love more Tears For Fears though:
- Change
- Shout
- Mad World
- Sowing the Seeds of Love
- Break it Down Again
Hopefully sales of this song do well enough to justify the larger investment in their back catalogue!

I’ll see your songs and raise you a couple from their grossly underrated Everybody Loves a Happy Ending album, like “Who Killed Tangerine” and “Everybody Loves a Happy Ending.”

We need some “Woman in Chains” up in here, too.

I just want Shout, Disturbed cover or not.
where is PALE SHELTER?????? Anybody noticed that missing?
[x] Everybody Wants to Rule the World
[ ] Pale Shelter
[ ] Shout
I’ll be super happy with “Head Over Heels” provided that all the harmonies appear and are charted, including the “yeah” in the second verse (of course if it’s not there I’m doing it anyway).
There have been a few 80s songs released where not all the harmonies are present for whatever reason, including “Bad Medicine”, “The Power of Love” and “Invincible” (though the latter was probably due to the alternate vocal track used), so hopefully we won’t have this problem with “Head Over Heels.”
Not a bad week. All for me. Still longing for more Duran Duran and The Cure though!

Not a fan of The Cure, but I’m right there with ya wanting some Duran Duran.
Nice. Getting all three in all likelihood.
It’s about time we get Fat Lip!
That was one of the Guitar Hero holdouts that I’ve been hoping for for years. In Too Deep was a ton of fun to play in Lego Rock Band, so I’m looking forward to this.
(Does this mean that the GH1 feature gets retroactively updated?)

We always go back and update the Setlist Checklist features. They’re all linked in the FAQ page at the top for easy reference, as well. In fact, the GH1 feature is already updated.
HUZZAH!!! Super excited about more Tears for Fears, my absolute favorite 80′s pop band. Great song choice but I wouldn’t mind a few more, Pale Shelter, Shout to name a few.
I seriously thought it was the sex pistols when I first saw the image lmaoooo

Each week I like to take a look at the band and see if I can tell who it is. It took me a little while to decide that it was Sum 41 only because I know what the vocalist looks like. Usually I can get it right apart from a few weeks here and there.
Happy to see Fat Lip and Head Over Heels
Would like to see a lot more Tears for Fears though, especially these:
Sowing the Seeds of Love
Pale Shelter
Shout
C’mon Harmonix! Chop Chop!
Maybe I’ll download something just so won’t go a month with no purchases…
Hell yeah Sum 41! Wish we had more than two songs, but have wanted fat lip for such a long time. Thank you hmx!
Great to get HMX GH songs in RB
Hell yeah! Another GH1 song I really wanted in RB. Gonna be getting the Sum 41 songs and maybe Tears For Fears too.
Where’s “Shout” and “Sowing the Seeds of Love?” I’m not a huge fan of them, but why didn’t they add there best song, “Shout”?
dlauthor Reply:

Because they went with Head Over Heels, which is excellent and probably more interesting to play, and has some more interesting singalong bits. I’m sure that, if it sells well, we’ll get Shout and Pale Shelter (which is actually their best song, if you ask me). Not as sure about Mad World, as IIRC it’s not a full-band song.
The video for Head Over Hells is excellent too, for those who haven’t seen it. I remember being deeply weirded out by it because I’d just recently been in that library — which is in Toronto, and therefore isn’t something I’d associate with a British band.

yeh, i am disappointed with only the one song, but as dlauthor said, if its popular (looks like it will be) we will get more for sure…
if it was a 3 pack, i wouldn’t have picked shout actually, i would have done
“laid so low”
“pale shelter”
“mad world”
and yeh, i think pale shelter is their best song aswell

Donnie Darko!
Died and went to heaven, tears for fears, fuck yeah!
Neither of these bands are my thing at all, this week looks like a pass. Probably pick up Fat Lip sometime down the road for the GH1 nostalgia.
Apparently I’m the only one who read ‘Fat Lip’ and thought we were getting a best of Pharcyde pack.
Now to get “Shout” and “Sowing the Seeds of Love”
One Tears for Fears song at a time is $%#^%$
What’s with the 3 songs a week, are we Guitar Hero now?

As I’ve said say this time of year for the past several years, the audio team at Harmonix takes well deserved vacations around the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years time frame, so DLC is light. Feel free to go back in time and see the 3-packs that we were getting this time of year going back a few years. (I’ll save you the time… this week last year was a three-pack of Stone Sour.)
Also, Guitar Hero hasn’t had any new content in nearly a year, so Rock Band is still doing pretty good in comparison…
Fat Lip with the 3 part harmonies will be great!
I kinda like 1 of those sum41 songs, but that picture used makes me not wanna like them or buy the songs. Am I a bad person? Am I the only one who thinks this emo style thing the kids are into these days is just a remix of the 80′s all over again, and in 20 years were gonna look back and laugh at the stupid styles, and the time when ever loser guy in the world has some sort of a hawk on his head, when the hawk hairstyles will become “cool” all over again? Oh well, at least we can get some good music out of it even if its really rare. Out of all horrible crap the 80′s put out, we did get the best Metallica which is my favourite band. I guess there are diamonds in the rough. Or BMW keys in the pile of dog shit cause he ate the key would be a better one. /rant off
Never heard of tears for fears before, and I wish I never had just now.. Nothing for me this whole month. Hopefully next month will be better, and ill have something to buy. Maybe even for my birthday since itll land on a tuesday next month.

If you say you won’t buy anything this week, that implies you own RB3. If you own RB3, that means you’ve heard Tears for Fears, given that they have a song on-disc.
WoahHash Reply:

I do have RB3. Never heard tears for fears though or at least might have just skimmed over it. Majority of the songs on the disk are just really bad. I probably listened to the first 3 seconds and skipped it. Theres a lot of songs on rb3 disk I still havent played once and never will. Just awful music. But to each his own.
Zac Reply:
January 30th, 2012 at 10:46 am
How do you know a song is “really bad” and “just awful music” if you’ve only listened to the “first 3 seconds” of each one? Do you know how many amazing songs you’ve missed if you’re out after three seconds? That’s pretty sad.
Awesome week for DLC; I’ll be buying all three for sure!
Well, Sum 41 are still 100x less obnoxious than Green Day. Punk for popular kids? Gross.
The more recent albums by Sum 41 have been closer to pop thrash, and I’ll take any thrash I can get in RB atm.
Totally gonna play a Donnie Darko set now:
Head Over Heels
Love Will Tear Us Apart
The Killing Moon
Now the need to add Under The Milky Way to make it even better.
It’s obvious they are saving ‘Shout’ for RB4…
