What’s Your Favorite DLC of 2011?

As we stated in our brief review of 2011, Rock Band had well over 300 songs released as official DLC in 2011. Instead of giving your our opinion on what we thought of last year’s DLC, we thought we would give the fans the option by voting on their favorite week of DLC.

We listed out below all the artists released as DLC by week, with links to the song detail if you can’t remember the specifics. With 53 different options, we’re letting you select up to THREE weeks that you thought were the best. And when we say “week,” we know that a few of the DLC releases came out early (Heartache Duets Pack, 2112), but we’re including those as separate entries, so the term “week” may not be the most accurate moniker, but we’re still sticking with it.

We will have the voting open until midnight (Central Time) next Tuesday, so you have until then to provide your input. Once you’ve finished voting, feel free to drop an explanation in the comments below on who you voted for and why. We’ll tally the results and list the results as selected by the community, along with select commentary, in a separate post next Wednesday.

Happy voting!

What was your favorite week of DLC?

Thanks for voting! Results of this poll will be displayed after the poll has closed in a future article here on the site, along with commentary from members of the community on why selected songs are their favorites.

We will be choosing comments to highlight the top selections for the month in the forthcoming results article!

Wow, it’s been a really great year of DLC. I overlooked the bit about casting 3 votes, so I only cast one in the poll itself. (Maybe I’ll vote for my other two on my home compy, to balance things out…)
I ended up voting for Def Leppard, just because it was so long overdue and anything I can do to encourage more 80′s rock I’ll do. :P
Honorable mentions go to Rise Against (I would’ve voted for that, but the fact that Bruno Mars was the same week brings it down a notch), Pat Benatar, and the Heartache Duets pack.

You have to go with Billy Joel here without a doubt.

I did, my good sir, I did. Thought about Queen a little bit, though, have to admit.

    The valentine duets!!
    Joy Division!
And I liked clocks from Coldplay very much.

    My fave artists by decade:

    60′s – Jimi Hendrix
    70′s – Led Zeppelin
    80′s – Iron Maiden
    90′s – Dream Theater
    00′s – Opeth

In a one month span, we got 3 of the 5, and 2 in one week! And the decades where we did not have my faves (70′s and 80′s), we got Rush and Ozzy, two giants of those decades.

    Well done, Harmonix!

  • BratzenBenni says:

    NIN all the way

  • Plutarch says:

Narrowing it down to three was pretty rough – I went with Pat Benatar, Ozzy and Queen (the December one). RHCP would have been my fourth pick…2112 was close too, played that with my buddies the other day and it was awesome!

  • StephenH says:

I will agree with most of the choices… for me personally, it was hard to choose. I reluctantly narrowed it down to Linkin Park, Incubus, and the community’s most hated Fueled By Ramen. I HAD A HARD TIME! Yes, Soundgarden, February’s Duets, Lady Gaga, London Calling, Rush, A7X… way too many favorites. I even enjoyed recalling the disgusting Limp Bizkit pack. One I picked up for nostalgia and LOLz and found myself enjoying on ProDrums WAY too much! 2011 kicked butt, here’s to 2012!

  • JB4GDI says:

I went with Linkin Park since it gets the most plays, but Billy Joel was close. And if more than one of my favorite singles was in a single week, it would have won hands down. Seriously, “Working for the Weekend,” “I Believe in a Thing Called Love,” and “Take on Me,” were highlights of the year, but not released in the same week.

  • DeftRockX3 says:

February Heartbreak Duets Pack, closely followed by the I’m with the Chili Peppers pack and the Soundgarden pack. If anyone disagrees, I will fight a bloody battle to the death.

  • IndienStrummer says:

What about the week they released all those pro-guitar upgrades? Didn’t see that as a choice. After that, for me, it was The Clash, Cash and Nirvana.

  • Bengalcp09 says:

I certainly don’t think it was the best week, but I had to vote the Phish week as my favorite week. They gave me Stash, my officially requested song from my co-favorite group. Can’t ask for much more than that.

Well, I was writing this for a while…

Here it’s my opinion, sorry for the spam…

  • Chucklestyle says:

I voted Soundgarden before reading the damn article and realizing I had 3 votes…which I would have used on NIN and Depeche Mode.

I’ll play damn near anything, but when we’re multiplaying here at the house the Soundgarden is a constant go-to so it had to be my pick.

  • Beckett says:

I only voted for one because I didn’t read it thoroughly, but it has to be London Calling for me without a doubt.

  • WoahThere says:

2112 was my favourite, not only because Rush is one of my favourite bands, and not only because the song is awesome, but also because it only cost 440 points for the 20 minute song, I have the option to play only parts of it, and I got pro upgrades with it basically for free. And its amazing. And so is Rush.

Next 2 favourite are Nirvana dlc and Hendrix dlc because I love those songs and they are fun to play.

  • SatansBestBuddy says:

You’re making me choose between Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Queen.

I don’t like making this decision.

    RockBandAide Reply:

You can make THREE selections, so you can choose both and still have one more vote.

    SatansBestBuddy Reply:

The other two were used on Heartache Duet pack and Ozzy Osbourne pack. (I actually read the rules)

This is why I’m glad this community exists. I’ve long since boycotted the facebook page, because of all the trolling and constant “MOAR METAL” chants (Not saying metal’s a bad thing :P ) It was around the time Coldplay was announced. I just gave up.

It’s nice to see such a varied selection of opinions and no “Thes bandz SUK, Y?!” comments.

Easy choice for me. Coldplay, Feuled by ramen and Red Hot chili peppers :)

  • Lazer says:

Playing “Make Some Noise” with three vocalists was the most fun I’ve had with Rock Band in years. By the end of it we were bouncing off of each other just like Beasties, and it was just as great as it sounds.

  • Xenigma says:

So many great releases this past year, made it difficult to choose. Ultimately my list came down to this:

    3. Yes Pack 01
Amazing music, with a lot of fun charts. Was hoping for something like this ever since Roundabout was first announced for RB3, and while none of the songs here are quite on that level IMO, it sure is great.

    2. Stevie Wonder Pack 01
I knew we were getting some great songs with this pack, but I did not expect them to be as fun to play as they were. Sir Duke is easily one of the best DLC tracks all year, and it’s not the only standout in the pack. Would be number one if my number one didn’t roll around…

    1. Roadrunner Pack 02
I had dreamed of another Roadrunner pack on Rock Band, but I never really expected it, and I certainly didn’t think it would be this good. As much as I wanted a classic Dream Theater pick, On the Backs of Angels blew away my expectations in terms of how fun it would be, and Ghost of Perdition came out of nowhere for me to be my favorite DLC track for the year. In Waves is pretty average, but the other two tracks are so great I have to name this my favorite DLC week of the year.

  • AzureAngel17 says:

I think I did Heartache Duets, Pat Benatar, and 2112. It was a tough call choosing not to choose Roy Orbison/KISS… :(

  • MagicMurderBag7 says:

Billy Joel is the freaking best pack ever! Some of my favorite tracks we ever got. Miami 2017, Scenes From an Itallian Restaurant, and She’s Always A Woman are three of the most fun Pro Keys tracks we ever got.

  • codexwyrm says:

Haters aside, I still have a lot of girls coming over for casual Rock Band parties. Gaga remains the most played artist in my house.

  • Green Illusion says:

I’ve been asking for “All Along the Watchtower” since I tried Guitar Hero 2 for the first time, so easy pick for me.

  • dc32 says:

The Clash, Depeche Mode, and the week with Joy Division, in that order.
