The Beatles: Rock Band Sales Results & Analysis

Despite what you may have heard from various other sources, here are the statistics I’m seeing for The Beatles: Rock Band, according to the VGChartz.com:
Week ending 9/12/09 (North America results):
| Console | TB:RB | GH5 | Difference |
| Xbox 360 | 250,268 | 74,292 | 175,976 |
| Wii | 241,604 | 48,787 | 192,817 |
| PS3 | 131,910 | 48,098 | 83,812 |
| PS2 | N/A | 22,119 | (22,119) |
| Total | 623,782 | 193,296 | 430,486 |
Remember, this is just for the week that the Beatles: Rock Band came out, which was Guitar Hero 5′s second week out. Cumulative numbers look a bit different, with Guitar Hero 5 selling just under 627k units across 4 consoles (unlike the Beatles: Rock Band which is sold on only three consoles). Guitar Hero division head Dan Rosensweig commented that “It did not affect our sales.” He also claimed a four-to-one sales ratio in favor of his game versus the Beatles: Rock Band in the U.S. according to the report.
I’m not an analyst or anythi… wait, yes I am (it is what they call, my day job)! Which is why I’m assuming Activision has different (better?) numbers than I do, but using the data available at VGChartz.com, I see a week over week decrease of 55.4% for GH5 during the week that The Beatles: Rock Band came out. Again, this may not be a true apples-to-apples comparison, but I have NO IDEA where his “four-to-one sales ratio” is coming from.

WOW! I Knew TB:RB was going to be a big deal, but I didn’t think it would do that good against GH5… Or did GH5 do Bad against TB:RB?
That’s why Activision was throwing away free redemptions for the GH: Van Halen game with every purchase of GH5. Their sale were tanking.
thats cause vgchartz makes up every numbers
But in the week GH5 came out, that game has been sold a lot.
I agree that VGChartz is about as credible as looking up real-world facts on TVTropes, let alone Wikipedia, but I hope this is true. Man GH5 is so bad I didn’t even play every song, just skipped to the last tier and then played whatever half-decent song I had left in quickplay. I still haven’t got the horrid charts out of my mind!
