New Rock Band 3 Patch Adds Back In Chili Pepper, Soundgarden Rock Band Exports

Following last week’s “controversy” surrounding the Country Track Pack 2 DLC/export, I noticed some interesting language being used by @HMXHenry on some of his comments both on the forums and on Twitter. My spidey-sense was tingling, and I had an odd feeling that a “surprise” announcement may be coming today. I didn’t think much of it, as actively supporting a game well over a year past launch is relatively unheard of (although Harmonix did it with Rock Band 2). I’ve had these feelings before, and typically nothing ever comes to pass, but this time was different. Just a few moments ago, @RockBand announced that a title update (AKA a “patch”) will be arriving TOMORROW for Xbox 360 and PS3 players that enables the following features/enhancements:

  • Soundgarden’s Black Hole Sun and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Dani California will now be available in Rock Band 3 to anyone that previously imported Rock Band 1.
  • New filter added allowing players to hide songs rated “One Lighter.”
  • Setlist crashes surrounding combinations of the songs Surfing with the Alien, Satch Boogie, The Hockey Theme, and Caprici di Diablo have been fixed.
  • Other legal/security tweaks.

What are people saying about the Oasis song? I can play it fine.

    Never mind.

    Well… no more non j-tagged customs :(

there are custom jtag mods? o.o

If I’m correct, it’s a way to make any Xbox run non-signed code, so that means for example, you can put any song in Rock Band, if you have the masters (and otherwise gameplay is just impaired).

Does Neal Schon want his own game or something?

What is the most likely holdup on the Journey side? Is Journey really asking for higher licensing fees than mega-bands like RHCP, Coldplay, etc?

I LMAO’d at the MTV logo getting swapped out for MadKatz in the opening credits.

Is this only happening on the 360? I played it on PS3 last night, all the patched features were there, but my opening credits still showed MTV Games and EA, and no mention of MadKatz

This is truly wonderful news. But as great as it is, it comes with a bit of sadness. The Metallica songs have not been unlocked. I cant help but think thats a really bad sign for any new or old Metallica coming to rock band. The only thing that throws me off is that there was the and justice for all pro upgrade release.

However theres still other songs locked up. And both Soundgarden and Chili Peppers have released big track packs so maybe that was part of the deal. They could still be working on deals with metallica and any other remaining band for a deal with new dlc. Who else is still missing? Iron maiden? I dont really remember. I just really wanna see more Metallica in rock band. My greatest dream few years ago was for them to make a metallica game and it happened. Now my dream is for RB and GH to team up and make the entire guitar hero metallica exportable to rock band with a pro upgrade for every song available. Is that too much to ask? How about just a small metallica track pack? I guess ill have to make due with all the other cool shit thats been coming out lately.

Those songs were never included in the original export anyway. The only other songs that can be unlocked now would be hier kommt alex and rock and roll star

IIRC, the cover of Iron Maiden’s “Run to the Hills” wasn’t exported from RB1, but you can get the real thing as DLC, so…why bother?

This is just lovely, I certainly wasn’t expecting HMX to fight our corner like this; now I can get my “Death Note” on by playing Dani California then Snow (Eh-oh).
