Wow. I wasn’t among the chorus of Slipknot naysayers when this was announced, but this pack contains two of the most annoying guitar tracks I’ve played. Two pieces of advice for guitarists:
1. Unless you eat devil-head tracks for breakfast, avoid Pulse of the Maggots. The solos are difficulty fests – and not of the good kind; they seemed like more-or-less-random flailing to me. (I know they’re really not, but I couldn’t make heads or tails of this.)
2. Avoid Wait and Bleed, no matter what – or at least look at the chart before buying. The main riff is charted so awkwardly as to trigger very bad memories of Time No More or Devoid of Thought.
Summary: Unless you’re in this for the difficultz, avoid this pack like the plague – with the notable exception of Snuff, but then the difficulty tiers should tell you that. Also, apart from the solos in Pulse of the Maggots and the riff in Wait and Bleed, the guitar charts really don’t have that much to offer in terms of variety.

I think we have similar tastes in guitar charts. Do you have the first Slipknot pack? What did you think of the guitar in that? I was not too familiar with Slipknot, but after doing some listening, I think I like the songs in the first pack more. I may end up getting Slipknot DLC today, but the first pack + “Snuff” instead of this new pack…

The first pack was quite challenging too, sometimes too much so for my tastes, but it was still way better than this one (I haven’t played it in a while, though). I don’t believe I ever gave two songs out of any pack, much less a 4-pack, one lighter.
Bass lines look like fun. Decent movement, enough HOPOs to keep things interesting without turning the bass line into a tap-fest, etc. Plus, very little alt-strumming, which I hate (partly because I always blow my combo and partly because endless lanes of alt-strummed notes are tiring and boring).
I’m probably in the minority that enjoyed Wait and Bleed. I’ll admit my first playthrough was awful and I thought it was the worst chart ever, but once you nail the main riff it gets pretty cool to play.
Not a fan at all of Slipknot. But I have heard Left Behind and Wait & Bleed- both of which I don’t mind that much. However, I didn’t really find the bass charting to look that entertaining, and the drums are just all over the place.
That said, I’d never heard Snuff before, and I rather like it. Enough that I might actually pick it up at some point (probably wont grab the others ever though). Reminds me a lot more of the singer’s Stone Sour stuff than Slipknot- which is good cause he’s actually a pretty decent singer when he’s not growling and screeching.
I said I would base my decision on the charts and they did little good to convince me. I’m not really excited by the guitar riffs and drum beats I see. The guitar solo’s in ‘Pulse of the Maggots’, accurate or not, looks like something I may never enjoy, because I’m not nearly skilled enough. Bass is ok, but nothing amazing.
And generally, I don’t buy tracks from metal artists to get songs like ‘Snuff’, which isn’t even that good for a mellow track form a metal artist.
I’ve always loved Slipknot (Iowa guy here) and I thought this was a great drums pack. Wait and Bleed takes alot to get down, but after that its fun as hell!

Payday is this weekend, and this pack is an instant buy. I cant wait to play the drum parts, they dont look to bad. Ive seen alot worse.
I love when you look at all the youtube comments on Pulse of the Maggots and they are like, “GUITAR CHARTED TO CORRECTLY UGHHHHHHH IT SUCKS!!!!” But if they had not charted it correctly people would be complaining about it -_-

Harmonix releases DLC. People whine.
Either buy the roaring maggot beast charts or shaddup and work on exercising those fingers, people. D;
I was looking forward to another Slipknot pack as I enjoy the band, but after playing “Pulse of the Maggots” and “Wait & Bleed” this morning, I think we are good at only having two Slipknot packs in the game. I never again want to play either of those two songs. Horrible, horrible charts and incredibly unfun in every respect.
All we need is a single for “Dead Memories” and we’re good.
Maybe “I Am Hated” for some Amplitude love.

I think the rest of Vol. 3 would be a great fit for Rock Band, personally. There’s a good mix of tracks there.
I’m noticing a pattern with most of the comments here…
In the beginning section of Pulse of the Maggots on Pro Keys how is it possible to hit the keys that fast? I tried multiple times and I couldn’t do it. I play on expert most of the time if you were wondering.

wait, there’s “singing” in this pack? (other than Snuff)

No need for name calling. Screaming/Growling != Singing. Fact. Now if you said “Fun for vocals”, that would be fine. But other than Snuff there wasn’t really any “singing” in this pack.

Considering all of the other songs were probably over half clean vocals (almost all of Wait And Bleed, most of Left Behind also) I’m not sure what you’re talking about…

He probably didn’t listen to the songs. In this case, no one can blame him.

If you want to properly hate something, you should know a little bit about it. Makes it so much more fun.
And the fact that Slipknot alternate between growling and clean vocals is pretty much common knowledge.
Funny that now the only bad comments are not that the songs came out, its that people cant play the parts. This is just funny. The drums seem pretty fun… and i cant wait to get this dlc to play that. The drums seem pretty simple compared to the other death metal shit that is in the game…imo.
Other then that the Bass is pretty simple and basic, same notes over and over with some scales here and there. The guitar is a challenge, but its no Dragon Force, or Nautilus.. look it up.
Absolutely NO ONE buy Wait And Bleed this week. Watch the last few seconds of the chart extremely carefully and you’ll notice that the gems outlast the audio. It’s not exclusive to that one video, either.

Keep in mind that the audio on the playthroughs is not necessarily exactly the same as whats in the DLC, its added over the video so that we don’t hear the screw up sounds or the missing instruments (since its usually played in full band mode by only one person). thenewnoelisoncruz is usually pretty good at overlaying the exactly correct audio track, but its possible that the master Harmonix got is slightly different than what was available to overlay.

*It’s not exclusive to that one video either.
It’s always assuming the lowest common denominator with you people.

Yeah i just noticed that, check out the drums and the symbols at the end of the song.. the green is kinda off, and have notes where there are none. Strange.
Wait and Bleed’s guitar chart is a complete FUCKING JOKE! Those hammer-on chords are really ANNOYING to hit.
I really don’t know why everyone is complaining about Wait and Bleed’s guitar chart. It kind of reminds of the GH3 chart for the Slipknot song in there, Before I Forget; if I remember that was a chart nobody complained about. Anyway, this chart is a lot of double chords, and all your really doing is switching between the red, yellow and blue. The only thing I don’t like about this Slipknot pack is Pulse of the Maggots solo. That random amount of notes is meant for GHP lol

I HATED “Before I Forget” in GH3! The bridge section had some of the most overcharted bullshit I have ever seen. Why the hell were those notes CHORDS? The RB3 chart is TONS better.
