Vote For Your Favorite RBN Tracks from August

OK, so we dropped the ball a little bit last month and didn’t follow up with what we had planned, which was to show the Top 10 songs as voted, along with commentary from the community for each song on why it was one of the best. But NOW we’ve got a MUCH better system in place to highlight the best of RBN for August!
We listed out below all the Rock Band Network tracks that were released for the Xbox 360 for this month. It is YOUR job to go through these potentially massive lists and select up to THREE tracks that you thought were the best. If you don’t remember each song, I’ve taken the liberty of linking to the original posts so you can go back and listen to a sample or to head over to RockBand.com.
- Xbox 360 RBN DLC for 8/4
- Xbox 360 RBN DLC for 8/11
- Xbox 360 RBN DLC for 8/18
- Xbox 360 RBN DLC for 8/25
This time, we will have the voting open for the next week, so you have until this time next Wednesday to provide your input. Once you’ve finished voting, feel free to drop us a line at BestofRBN@rockbandaide.com with some comments on the song(s) you selected, and why you think they are the best of the month. We’ll tally the results and list the top 10 songs as selected by the community, along with select commentary, in a separate post next week.
Happy voting!
What is your favorite RBN song from August?
We will be choosing comments to highlight the top selections for the month in the forthcoming results article!

I can’t decide between Freezepop’s – “Doppelgänger” or Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives’ – “Soy Bomb” I may just have to flip a coin on this one.
Freezepop – Doppleganger will be my vote
Lets just put it this way, if rockband had nothing but Freezepop albums and tracks, I would not be angry

Me neither, unless all of the tracks were as bland and repetitive as Special Effects. One of the biggest disappointments yet to come out of the RBN.
I would not buy a single one of those songs if/when they hit the ps3. First month that has happened
This was a much easier decision than July for me.
“Ashes to Ashes/Leaving it All Behind” takes the cake thanks to the incredible venue.

Wait, venue? Songs come with venues?

RBN authors have control of the venue lighting and effects and whatnot.
It’s certainly not PON DE FIOR.

It most certainly is.
“Soy Bomb” was the best this past month. Brings back sweet Guitar Hero 2 memories….
D’= aw what, no feature on Turn Around from a while back?
Oof…umm…I’ll buy Soy Bomb and Doppelganger when they get to PS3. Soy Bomb due to a love for GH2 tunes, and Doppelganger because Freezepop is a ton of fun.
By far my favorite songs on rbn have been from Free Spirit. What a great band!
Cynic and Morgawr were easy top choices. The third choice was tougher as there were a lot of good choices just below those two. I went with “War In Heaven” by Amberian Dawn. Not too tough (except keyboard, which has insane dueling solos, but I do not play keyboard), has a monster opening guitar riff, and it is time to give Amberian Dawn some love since they had no tracks in July.
Honorable mention to Halcyon Way, Fallen Angel, Lich King, and Myrath.
Oh yeah, and voting for Amberian Dawn will piss off all the haters who think RBN is a zero-sum game where every Amberian Dawn song took the place of a song by [your favorite band here].
Wii doesn’t have rbn.
YEAH TOAST!
Freezepop all the way!!!
I’ve only bought about 7 songs from RBN. Not really interested in what’s being released. Would like to see more mainstream music.

How dare you ask to circumvent releases of mainstream music around the standard RB channels?!?
I would *guess* that mainstream is 95% slated for release through the main arterial because a) Harmonix wants tighter quality control on their higher revenue items, b) xbox is first for RBN and other platforms would be pissed when they release moar muse, and 3) in the event RBN dies, there will be ample backlog of music from artists that people have actually heard of to keep RB alive in the waning days. Just my opinion.
Then again, the only RBN DLC I have is Seether and Drowning Pool, so yeah, I’m too mainstream myself.

Maybe not “mainstream”, per se, but I’d love to see more songs from the bands I listen to that are on the periphery. (Although some more Stroke 9 and Third Eye Blind would be nice, too)
More songs from Get Up Kids, Sunny Day Real Estate, Mayday Parade, We the Kings, Silverstein…I still want Six by All that Remains.
Also would like some more Vagrant & Victory records artists from back in the day…Saves the Day, The Anniversary and old Taking Back Sunday spring to mind right away.
Oh, and where is my damn Gaslight Anthem?
Hey, dumb question. How do you vote? I see no link.

It’s at the bottom of the post, clear as day. It might be missing if you have some strict ad-blocker on, though.
No love for Madness by Myrath yet?
Hyperdrive is my top choice. Not a HUGE Ziltoid song fan since a lot of it is heavy shredding, but Hyperdrive is just a slower, awesome rock song and I loved it so much. Musically my favorite song by far of the month.
Quick mention to Skindred. Wish we’d get some NEW songs, but it’s still great to have a new excuse to buy some Skindred. I will gladly have two copies of that song in my library since it’s such a great track and such a unique, awesome band.
“Gymnopédie No.1 (Satie)” by Thomas Walker: because I am a sucker for the link to The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.
