Rock Band Coming to a Bar Near You!

I’ve both hosted and participated in Rock Band nights at bars, and I can honestly say they take the average user’s Rock Band experience to a whole new level. Why sit on your couch, when you can meet other people with similar interests, partake in a few beverages, and take the stage rocking to your favorite tunes?! Yeah, that’s what I thought.
Well, EA and Harmonix are taking the reins and will begin to provide some structure and support around local Rock Band bar nights. They will start providing customizable marketing materials, limited promotion through official channels (home page, Facebook, Twitter, etc.), and will even offer exclusive hardware/software solutions. Harmonix has set up a separate page at RockBand.com with all the details, but if you own or manage a local establishment interested in hosting a Rock Band night, definitely check it out!
For all of us regular players, once everything is up and running, we’ll be able to search a central location for all officially sanctioned Rock Band events!

As a Rock Band host, I’m THRILLED that this program is finally taking off! I can’t wait to see the perks that my shows will see now because of the support of Harmonix and MTV. I’m really glad I was able to get involved with this program from the very beginning, and I look forward to meeting a lot of Chicagoland Rock Band players at my shows every week!
I’m very excited about this push to have regular Rock Band shindigs!
I hope that part of this focus involves fixing the problem that occurs when some people play on expert while others are playing on easy – namely, the fact that the expert players are forced to play at the same slow speed as the new players.
That has been the biggest problem with our regular Rock Band nights so far.
