Holy snap, that’s a lot of new songs.
“Sexual Man Chocolate” sounds like something Chef from South Park would sing. lol
I can’t help but notice the number of RBN network songs released at a time has been skyrocketing very recently. I presume this is because of the RBN1 pipeline shutoff coming up in a matter of weeks, and the pending launch of RBN2. Oh well, can’t complain. Several promising tracks in here from bands I’ve bought tracks from before, like Children of Nova and Freen in Green.

I believe I saw something in regards to them decreasing the number of approvals it has to get to make it to the Marketplace as being the biggest factor in the number of releases increasing like it has.
Wow, that’s a lot of songs.
…and, unfortunately for me, they look like mostly metal. And, for whatever reason, Ween.

At least half of those songs listed above are not metal. Might want to give some of them a listen.
Definitely gonna get this other Mayday Parade song…

So’s the other one by them these days. Tragically Hip, on the other hand…
Holy RBN-fest Batman, that’s a lot of songs!
Nothing I recognize immediately, but I’ll definitely give them a listen.
Tons of songs!!
In case anyone wants to see these videos…

“Rompecabezas” is very fun on drums and bass. Really, very fun.
I’ve heard none of these except for Attack Attack.

Hence the reason for the embedded playlist above.
The RBN is primarily a discovery tool for new and emerging artists. It’s not meant as a distribution method for more mainstream DLC. You will rarely, if ever, see a major-label artist on the RBN.
Also, none of this info is new…

I hear quite a few lesser known bands all the time. And I know what RBN is. I was just saying that surprisingly I’ve heard of none of these (except Attack Attack).

Lol, that’s pretty much a normal week for me. There are some notable exceptions to the “never heard of” overall. Namely, Third Eye Blind, Blondie (not technically “available” but it is downloadable and buyable), Flogging Molly (DEFINITELY need MOAR of these guys for sure), Evanescence, and a few others.
TBH, the main reason some of this week’s songs look familiar to me is that the bands have had previous releases.

Agreed. ‘Second Sight Blackout’ was added yesterday to the Marketplace, should be in the store soon.

Be careful with We Collide. I’m an expert level guitar player who can pass Thrasher, and that thing’s intro kills me stone dead within 2 percent of the song. Not fun at all. The rest of the song might be alright – it’s over seven minutes long, after all -, but that intro ruins it for me.
So my eyes weren’t decieving me that this RBN update was massive! And filled with, I might add, bands the RBN got me into, such as Evile, Children of Nova and Riptides ^_^
That Ween song is essentially a note-perfect Mötorhead homage/parody/ripoff

AGREED. It’s so insanely fun on drums (at least the 2x version is…can’t speak for the other).
3 Amberian Dawn songs?! Excellent! And Attack! Attack! may be stupid, but they are fun. I think the Monte Casino song is straight ahead rock and a cool song. And the Kataklysm song, if it is the one I am thinking of, is certainly metal but slower and moodier and more melodic than their prior 1000 bpm RBN releases.
This certainly makes up for the crappy official DLC this week!
Never thought a kult Black Metal band like Nachtmystium would have ever allowed their material in RB. But I guess after Emperor showing up, all things are possible.

Have you heard the latest Nachtmystium? They are not kult Black Metal anymore. It is pretty anemic. I hate to say sell out, because I do not think they have sold out. They have just gone, with complete sincerity, in a rock-n-roll direction that does not work at all, IMHO.
Morgawr are the best underground Black Metal band on RBN.

In my opinion, “Veils” by Ludicra is the best black metal RBN song. That one always seems to fly under the radar, but it’s amazing.
Jamie all over has to be fun on drums
*sigh*
Another RBN update, another batch of terrible Hot Topic bands.
Am I the only one sick of looking through the RBN and only finding awful Screamo bands which are labeled as Metal for some reason?

3x Amberian Dawn? Evile? Kataklysm? Nachtmystium? Seems like there is plenty of real metal in this batch of songs. Although the latest Nachtmystium album kind of stinks, but it is still metal. Maybe. And out of 30 songs, how many are screamo masquerading as metal? Five? Five more than anyone over the age of 14 would want, but so be it. I am sure it sells and the charting groups have a right to make a living. And there are 25 other songs to check out…

These are the bands that are embracing RBN and putting their songs in either themselves or through authoring groups. If you want certain bands/genres to show up in RBN, contact them yourself and let them know about RBN, and then point them to the authoring tools or to a company (like mine) that publishes songs on RBN.
If the bands you like aren’t showing up on RBN, it’s because they don’t know about it/don’t want to be in it for whatever reason.
Also, there’s tons of amazing songs in this update. Please don’t dismiss it all at one glance; give them a listen. You might be very pleasantly surprised at what you hear.
Im mostly happy bout the Children of Nova and August Burns Red (FINALLY!!). more Of Mice and Men is cool too.
