Dwight Yoakam and Johnny Cash…if all these songs in the pack turn out to be new ones, I’m totally picking it up.

  • Chucklestyle says:

*Finally* some Johnny Cash. Here’s hoping for an impending Cash pack with a few deep cuts so I can play the ones I don’t hear at the bar all the time.

  • Kirksplosion says:

Hehe, nice. I ask for Johnny Cash in the last thread, and Harmonix delivers. They’re listening…

  • Shane W says:

Just to play a little Devil’s Advocate: since we only have the song title to go on, Ring of Fire could very possibly be the Social Distortion cover which is already available as DLC. I’m hoping for the Cash original though!

    Kirksplosion Reply:

    I can’t imagine they’d put Social Distortion in a Country Track Pack…

    Whizzer Reply:

Cash’s is not the original. As per WikiPedia:

“Ring of Fire” or “The Ring of Fire” is a country music song popularized by Johnny Cash and co-written by June Carter (wife of Johnny Cash) and Merle Kilgore. The single appears on Cash’s 1963 compilation album, Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash. The song was originally recorded by June’s sister, Anita Carter, on her Mercury Records album Folk Songs Old and New (1963) as “(Love’s) Ring of Fire”.

    Croq Reply:

Good info, was unaware of that, but Johnny Cash’s version is considered by most to be the quintessential version… :)

We’d BETTER not get the Anita Carter version. I’m just sayin…

    KEWB Reply:

It says Ring of Fire and the Artist is listed as Johnny Cash. On the Social Distortion version, the artist is listed as Social Distortion. This isn’t a hard concept lol. I’m not a country fan, but I’m definitely picking up that song when it’s released as normal dlc.

    Sorixas Reply:

I thought the Social Distortion version was already released as DLC.

  • PikminGuts92 says:

So anyone know if this will be on the same old RB1 engine just like the past retail track packs, and if not will it be on RB3′s engine and include the new gameplay features, like keys and harmonies?

    outphase Reply:

The One You Lean On is for unisons. I assume that means harmonies are in.

    Arcanon Reply:

Unisons aren’t harmonies. Those are the bonuses you get when guitar/bass/drums (and keys in RB3) all play the same OD phrase and combo it.

    AnonymousBroccoli Reply:

Unison bonuses are when all instruments (minus vocals) hit certain sections of the song perfectly, and get an extra quarter-bar of Star Power.

In Rock Band 3, the sides of the highway turn gold to show it off a little more. And you can get them playing single player.

    AnonymousBroccoli Reply:

Some of the print on the cover talks about an export to Rock Band 3, so it seems possible that they’d finally upgrade the discs.

Though none of the achievements hint at anything other than the original 4 instruments, so who knows.

    /Useless speculation comment :D

    Croq Reply:

Plus, Gamestop’s description says that the export code allows you to export the content to Rock Band 1, 2, and 3. Unless they do separate codes, which I think is highly unlikely, the export will be RB2-style.

That being said, I would *love* to be proven wrong here! :)

    PikminGuts92 Reply:

You’re probably right. But there’s still a chance it will at least include harmonies as an option. :P

    AnonymousBroccoli Reply:

From the previous RBA post about the disc:

    http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210525&p=4218717&viewfull=1#post4218717

“It should be RB2-era songs, so don’t expect harmonies and keys”

    PikminGuts92 Reply:

Ok. You wanna play it that way? I’ll link a forum post too…
    http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210525&page=10

“Harmonies most certainly can be included in the export, even if they’re not used on the disc… similar to the way the exported Green Day songs and the Pearl Jam DLC songs work just fine with both RB1 and RB2 despite harmony charts being present in them.”

So yeah, we probably won’t see keys but we may still be able to have harmonies and pro guitar/bass upgrades. ;)

  • Darth Logo says:

Confirmed: Still no Taylor Swift. =/

Some very good songs in there, though.

    lilchro2010 Reply:

No paisley yet either, does this mean he might be a artist that gets a pack like toby keith? i would imagine he would be one of the feature artists to get mentioned in the info

    Xzyliac Reply:

Here’s to hoping it stays that way. Maybe we’ll get lucky and Activision has exclusive rights.

  • Adam P says:

We get Johnny, finally….but it’s ring of fire, ugh, kinda predictable…the world needs a “Cash Greatest Hits Rockband Edition”

    T Reply:

Yeah, how dare HMX go after one of Johnny Cash’s most well known and famous songs. How inconsiderate. *audible eye roll*

    Xzyliac Reply:

A Cash Greatest Hits would make me so damn happy.

    Hurt or GTFO.

  • Xzyliac says:

Oh God dammit it’s got Cash. Now I have to at least pay attention.

  • Jond76 says:

They somehow managed to include zero of the country I like. Wow. Of course, I would want all late 70′s- 80′s era music. George Straight, Clint Black, early Brooks and Dunn, Tanya Tucker, etc.

    Maybe the next one.

    smacd Reply:

There is a George Strait song on it- “Twang”.

Might not be from that era though, I’m not particularly knowledgeable when it comes to country.

  • HeyRiles says:

These achievements are way easier because there isn’t one that you have to close your eyes for to unlock

  • Game!Ov3r says:

What I really want to know is, is this going to be exportable to the Wii?

  • T says:

Looks like a pretty “easy” achevement list comparred to previous track packs. You will need three people for one, but a moderately talented voxtarist can do the rest themselves.

  • Michael says:

The last achievement is Giddy On Up, it automatically made me think that we might be getting Elvira. Anyone else think it is a possibility?

    Michael Reply:

I take that back everybody lol I didn’t pay attention to the stupid Laura Bell Bundy song.

    Croq Reply:

    I like your original idea better… :)

    T Reply:

At this point, if we got Elvira it would be a crime to do so without harmonies.

  • Skydog says:

Some are okay…Sugarland is good (they aren’t that bad..), Johnny Cash, Martina.

But some are misses… Urban for example (i’ve heard that song so much it’s irritating)

  • Vampire-Jekyll says:

    Thumbs Up: Johnny Cash
    Thumbs Down: Ring of Fire

It would be amazing to see the Folsom Prison live album released for Rock Band, though highly unlikely.

  • Kyle Steven says:

So, on RB3 carear they have trackpack goals so will this add to it?

    Bionic92 Reply:

    Most likely.

    T Reply:

There would likely be at LEAST a “Beat all songs” Goal like the other one. And then maybe a few achievements translated to goals as well.

    Game!Ov3r Reply:

Not on the Wii… the developers said that no new goals will be made for any future DLC/Trackpack/imports… system limitations

  • Paul says:

Johnny Cash is good, but we’ve already got a version of Ring of Fire…

Why not Walk the Line instead?

    Croq Reply:

    Why not both? :)

  • MilesRose says:

Johnny Cash will make me buy this :3

  • andy says:

Wouldn’t it be great if Ring Of Fire was the original?! :)
