Country Track Pack 2 Release Date, Partial Track Listing

I took the above image at E3 in July, and since that time, we haven’t heard much about when (and if) this was still coming out. If a very thorough product posting over at Gamestop is to be believed, 10 of the 21 total tracks and release date of February 1, 2011 have now been revealed.

Also, poster SkyttSkytt  over at RockBand.com also claimed to have chatted with John Drake at the Umloud! event last Thursday, who mentioned that this track pack will have probably “Rock Band 2″ features, so no Pro modes and no keyboards.

The disc is tentatively priced for $29.99. Keith Urban and Sugarland will also be making an appearance on the disc, but no songs specifics have yet been revealed.

  • Darryl Worley – Awful Beautiful Life
  • Gary Allan – Man of Me
  • George Strait – Twang
  • Jason Aldean – Crazy Town
  • Justin Moore – Backwoods
  • Lady Antebellum – Perfect Day
  • Laura Bell Bundy – Giddy on Up
  • Luke Bryan – Rain Is A Good Thing
  • Rascal Flatts – Summer Nights
  • Shania Twain – Party For Two (w/Billy Currington)

[Thanks @BRsareSMGs]

    And Keith Urban.

Could definitely go with Brad Paisley

I would really like to see some more Alan Jackson as well.

  • RandydG says:

Eh, ill wait till it goes down to $5 like the first pack did.

  • Kirksplosion says:

I recognize a couple of those, but this pack, so far, is not for me at all.

I could go for some more older country, though. Johnny Cash, anyone?

    RandydG Reply:

Hell yeah, even some 80s country would be awesome. Im not a big country music person, but i was raised on 80s country.

    Plainclothes Man Reply:

If your going older country we need some Hank Williams and Patsy Cline.

  • Rick says:

I’ll just wait for it to be DLC so far nothing that strikes me as a must buy now

  • flame95 says:

    Needs moar Muse.

    RandydG Reply:

    Oh hell, here we go…lol

  • Darth Logo says:

Still no Taylor Swift. =/ I really wish we could get her on Rock Band… but alas, she seems to continue to be a GH-exclusive for now.

    Rick Reply:

I would think if RB got her she would be used as DLC because shes so big and she can crossover into pop more often than country

    metallichris71 Reply:

It is absolutely ludicrous that TS can’t come to Rock Band because of that Band Hero crap. They had three songs and no DLC, and that was over a year ago. They clearly do not intend on releasing more, especially now with their focus on fantasy pig-men with battle axes clearly not being a place for TS tunes. Harmonix wants to make a LOT of money? Full album releases of Fearless and Speak Now. You’ll be in the black in no time.

    Rick Reply:

In all honesty who knows anymore if somethings exclusive to a game for all we know HMX may not have even inquired TS about being in RB you cant assume its exclusivity reasons.

    Paul Reply:

It’s a little ridiculous to think that they *wouldn’t* approach Taylor Swift, given how popular she is. She’s one of the biggest artists performing now, period.

    Game!Ov3r Reply:

TS did have one DLC song for GH “Our Song”. GH doesnt really know how to treat an exclusive band… look at the Eagles.

    toymachine Reply:

Or maybe The Eagles only wanted to license 4 songs…

    RedIon1992 Reply:

Actually, they have released one tune as DLC as part of a Band Hero Celebrity New Year’s Track Pack (basically, here’s one from each of the artists that let us use their faces).

    But besides that, nothing.

    Skydog Reply:

I can’t support a lady that sounds like a frog live.

Watch it buddy. TS bashing does not go over well with me.

  • Flan says:

    GEORGE STRAIT?!

Not my favorite choice, but YES!

10 new songs, so that’d be $20 as DLC. A couple more new ones and the cost of purchasing the disc and accepting the inevitable repeats offsets the wait for exclusivity to drop.

    RandydG Reply:

Well don’t forget that there is country music that is already DLC that was not included in the first Country Track Pack. And that pack had 21 songs on it. I picked it up for $5 at Family Dollar.

    HeyRiles Reply:

The GameStop description page mentions that every song will be brand new

    Croq Reply:

I want to see a full track list. Now. :)

    Flan Reply:

Yeah, I caught that after you pointed it out. Thanks.

That’s good news. Instant purchase then (even though some of these songs are blech).

As I did with TP1, this is a perfect opportunity to trade in some unplayed games at Gamestop and getting a credit to knock the price down.

I think that they’ll do what they did with TP1 and Willie and Kenny Rogers, they’ll announce a classic artist or two on there to hook people in. Something like “Good Ol’ Boys (Dukes of Hazzard theme” by Waylon Jennings, or anything by Johnny Cash would certainly get a few more people off the fence.

  • Boogaloo says:

    We need moar KENNY ROGERS!!

  • Croq says:

So there doesn’t seem to be overlap (like we thought there would be) between this Country Track Pack 2 and the “Going Country Pack 04″ set released back in August then?

    # Dierks Bentley—“What Was I Thinkin’”
    # Eric Church – “Hell on the Heart”
    # Jamey Johnson – “Women”
    # Josh Turner – “Would You Go With Me”
    # Keith Urban – “Days Go By”
    # Lady Antebellum – “Lookin’ For a Good Time”
    # Laura Bell Bundy – “Rebound”
    # Reba McEntire – “Fancy”
    # Sugarland – “It Happens”

If that’s the case, it may be time for me to pick up these tracks.

I won’t do anything till we see an official track list for the disc though.

    Whizzer Reply:

This is just part of the list, if true. Pack 04 may in the remaining songs. I would wait. It’s just a month and a half, after all.

    Croq Reply:

Someone else pointed out that Gamestop is indicating that all the tracks in the Track Pack disk are new. Still, waiting is probably the most prudent thing.

    I’ve waited this long already… :)

  • Game!Ov3r says:

I am not a huge country fan, but my family is, so I would have liked to of seen more “known” country songs for my own taste. I will pick this up if they have an export code for the Wii.

  • BravoGangUS says:

Maybe when you export it the Export Pack will have RB3 Features? #WishfulThinking

    Croq Reply:

Dreamin in the morning, dreamin all through the night…

Oh wait, that’s not country. :)

Seriously though, I would love to see that happen (add me to the #wishfulthinking or maybe #HopefulButNotReallyExpectingThatItWouldConceivablyEverComeTrue crowd), but I’m also not holding my breath.

  • Skydog says:

Rascal Flatts- One of my favorites by them (even though I despise them)

Shania Twain- another miss by her… she’s got much better :\

Lady Antebellum- Not one of their hits? I’m surprised…

    Paul Reply:

I’m going to regret saying this, but “Any Man of Mine” was a LOT Of fun to play.

    Especially to…erm, sing.

    Skydog Reply:

    LOL.
Yeah that songs not bad… but she’s got much better :)

  • Skydog says:

LOL i just noticed Rain is a good thing is on this list… i just busted out laughing :P

  • Brendan S. says:

How about some actual country music. This is all the new twangy pop that is marketed as country now. Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, Hank Williams.

  • Paul says:

Meh. No Rock Band 3 features and the focus on modern country mean I’m not too interested in this one. Personally, I’d love either more of the old-school stuff (“The Gambler” and “On The Road Again” are a blast to play) or more 90s country (why not some Garth Brooks or Faith Hill?). I don’t recognize the songs on the list, and while I can’t deny I might enjoy them once I do become familiar, at first glance this doesn’t look all that interesting.

As it stands now, if the other track packs are any indication I’ll either be able to get the code or the entire package for $10 or less if I wait it out, so…I guess that’s my plan.

    Mark Reply:

Finally someone mentions Garth Brooks! I realize he’s probably way too expensive for Harmonix to get, but that would be HUGE win. A greatest hits pack or even a stand-alone. I’d buy it.

    Ospero Reply:

Too expensive? They’ve got Queen, the Beatles (and John Lennon) and quite a few other high-profile artists. Brooks couldn’t be that much more demanding (and if he is, he’s seriously overestimating his appeal, particularly from a non-North American perspective).

  • freakinalex says:

Of all the George Strait songs they could have used, they pick that? Really?

  • Chris Glass says:

    Lego David Bowie.

    Plainclothes Man Reply:

    Lego Muse! ;)

  • Vampire-Jekyll says:

So… if it uses RB2 features we could a.) see these songs as exclusive to the pack if they are truly done with old format dlc or b.) see some new dlc that will be compatible with RB/RB2/LRB being released.

  • RBGHfam says:

Johnny Cash – A boy named Sue would be cool!

    Plainclothes Man Reply:

    Any Cash would be cool!

  • Clint says:

I like pretty much all of them…

& the last party everyone said the highlight was me singing “This one’s for the girls” by Martina McBride…it was ugly!

  • Dark Reality says:

Remember, this was originally going to be released in November, or at least, that’s what they were saying in September. So if it’s not gonna have RB3 features… I wonder what caused the delay.

I’m also curious as to why we’re left in the dark about the second half of the pack. The only one worth getting excited for is the first one — and maybe the George Strait song, though more pure country isn’t really my thing. I dig the stuff that sits closer to Southern rock, even the country-pop… but that’s just me. If the rest of the track pack is as bad as this, I’d say it’s a pass. The first country pack had a better selection than this, and some good songs overall.

Being as that a lot of rockers *hate* country, I think they could do a lot better with the selection. Make the pack justifiable. That means we need a Garth Brooks song, we need a Johnny Cash song… the classics and heavy hitters all need to be represented. I think there was enough “random stuff” on the first pack (and that’s also what RBN is for).

    Clint Reply:

Crazy Town might be right for you too

    HeyRiles Reply:

The delay was caused due to the length it took to get the Wii version of the game approved for distribution by Nintendo

  • Delibird444 says:

I believe that it could be the Rock Band 3 overshell and UI on top of Rock Band 1\2 visuals, or it could just be a crippled form of Rock Band 3, without customization and a smaller “Road Challenges”.

Either way, I HIGHLY doubt that this will not include keys, harmonies, and pro modes. It was delayed way past November for a reason… and it so far isn’t including Going Country Pack 04 for a reason… And when this is released on the Music Store it WILL have those features, so I’d be willing to bet that it has them here too.

Whatever happens, I’m excited. I’ve been waiting for more country for a while now, and a burst of 21 new songs will keep me going for a while.

Long live the disc-based track packs! A cheap way to get great songs (without running up stupid bandwidth usage limits) :)

    Delibird444 Reply:

Oh wait, I just remembered that these don’t rip directly from the disc (they definitely should though). That means that the 700MB file WILL run up the usage limits, which saddens me… oh well.

    Croq Reply:

Keep in mind though this from the post:

Also, poster SkyttSkytt over at RockBand.com also claimed to have chatted with John Drake at the Umloud! event last Thursday, who mentioned that this track pack will have probably “Rock Band 2″ features, so no Pro modes and no keyboards.

I hope too that it is RB3 style, but if not, I’m still likely buying it… :)

    HeyRiles Reply:

The disc will have Band Tour and Solo Tour as well as Tug of War and Score duel, so it’s pretty much gonna be a carbon copy of RBCTP1 with different songs

Since the ‘export’ is downloadable, I can guess that maybe the download will be RB3-enabled while the disc is RB1/2 enabled…but the fact that the songs are compatible with RB1 and 2 kinda ruins that theory

    HeyRiles Reply:

That is to say; we’re probably not done seeing RB2-era DLC yet, even amidst all the RB3 DLC

    Delibird444 Reply:

There’s a lot to wonder about. For example, is it going to be available for PS2 (Rock Band 3 wasn’t)? There’s still a lot that can be changed about the way track packs are set up, especially at this time.

I do think that at least the massive export download (as well as the tracks that will appear in the store) will have the new features, should the disc itself not have them. Harmonix seems very intent on NO backwards compatibility, and has stated that all DLC going forward will have these features.

Also, how hard could it be to take the existing Track Pack (RB1\2)engine (visuals, game modes [tug of war, etc.], and UI) and tack on a pro keys chart reader, cymbal indicators, and Green Day style harmonies? I don’t think Pro Guitar\Bass will be included anyway seeing as this is DLC… my guess is that they’ll do something along these lines; simply tweaking their current perfectly gimped RB1\2 engine and adding the few new instrument features. Once they have this engine ready, then they’ll probably end up using it for any future track packs as well.

New features or not (although I would be seriously upset without harmonies), I’m buying this game on February 1st.

    HeyRiles Reply:

You’re mistaken. Harmonix said that DLC with keyboard and pro mode would begin day of RB3′s release. They have never mentioned anything about RB2-era DLC continuing to be released. It’s rather silly to believe that they managed to release all the DLC that was licensed without keys and harmonies. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he started getting some gimped RB3 DLC

Also, considering that RB3 is built on a new engine from RB2 (comparable more to the Beatles and Green Day), I would imagine it would be extremely difficult to simply patch in new features in an old engine

    RockBandAide Reply:

People bitched that they can’t play post-RB3 DLC in RB2. Now people are bitching that some new DLC may not have RB3 features. Proof that you cannot please all the people, all the time.

    Delibird444 Reply:

I stand corrected. They never did mention anything about RB2 DLC being finished… but I would certainly hope that it is. I would loathe to still be receiving new non-pro tracks on October 26th, 2013; in Rock Band 4.

If the disc won’t export to have pro features, that’s fine. I’m still going to get the tracks, either through the store (wouldn’t it be messed up if that had new features, and the disc didn’t?) or through the disc. I’ve got every country song to date, and I don’t plan on stopping for Pro mode.

@Rockbandaide: You are so correct! I never understood why people complained that RB3 songs wouldn’t work in RB2 though… I guess some people just like to complain… I just like RB3.

  • Game!Ov3r says:

I wonder if we will get the Aaron Lewis (from Staind) country solo project song “Country Boy”?

  • Winter Arcane says:

I prefer old school country myself…I don’t see anything that interests me here. I just find it strange that they’re doing a second Country pack so quickly after the first. Did the Country Track Pack really sell so much better than the other track packs that Harmonix is so eager to return to that trough?

    Choz Reply:

At a seminar I attended, Jeff Marshall mentioned that Country Track Pack 1 was the best-selling expansion pack, by far. In fact, they mentioned it twice.

  • smacd says:

    http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/rock-band-track-pack-country-volume-2/achievements/

dunno if anyone else posted this, but looks like there are a couple songs alluded to in the achievement list. “Ride”, “Ring of Fire”, “That’s How Country Boys Roll”, “Kiss A Girl”, and “Sideways”.

I’m not up on country music, but I believe Kiss A Girl is the Kieth Urban song, and Ring of Fire is (hopefully) Johnny Cash’s version.

    smacd Reply:

“Sideways” is probably Dierks Bentley. “That’s How Country Boys Roll” looks like Billy Currington, “Ride” could be Martina McBride.

  • auribe14 says:

Harmonix: “all DLC will be RB3 from now on (paraphrased)”

John Drake: Country Pack 2 “probably RB2 DLC”

Gamestop: “Outlawed Tracks: The entire tracklist is currently only playable in Rock Band through purchasing the disc or through the export code* included with the software.
Go Beyond the Disc! *Xbox 360® and PlayStation®3 software ships with download codes to export all 21 tracks to play directly in Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and Rock Band 3.”

Someone has to be not completely correct, I’m hoping for John Drake.

    Croq Reply:

Harmonix could be correct since technically the “export” is not DLC. If Gamestop is correct, then they have pretty much answered the fact that it’ll be RB1/2 style content, not RB3.

Based on the way the track packs with all (or mostly) new content have worked in the past, and various recent events, this is what I expect to happen:

    1. Country Track Pack 2 is released, export code gets you RB1/2-style DLC for all the RB games.

    2. Several months later, Harmonix announces the latest “Going Country Pack” as DLC. This new DLC is RB3 DLC, including pro guitar/bass upgrades for some tracks.

    3. Tons of wailing and gnashing of teeth occurs because people have to buy tracks again at full price, clutter up their libraries with multiple versions, etc., etc., etc.

    4. Life goes on in spite of all the horrors and challenges discussed in #3.
